Hi all,

I just received my $10 off $50 Play-Asia coupon from the recent Strikebang promotion and I was wondering about what game I should get.

Since I no longer have my modded PS2, PS3 import games are pretty much the same as the US games, and I hate my NDS, I guess I better buy a PSP import game. That said, can anyone suggest some of their favorite psp import games? My choice at the moment is "DQ & FF in Itadaki Street Portable".

Thanks!

You hate your DS? Is you mental?

That said, only import games I have for my PSP are Loco Roco and Gitaroo Man - both cases because the import was cheaper than the US version. When I was in Tokyo, I was extremely disappointed to find absolutely no PSP games of interest.

Current favorite is Bleach Heat the Soul 4. As for Itadaki Street, it is very text heavy so you have to use a faq to play it.

Yeah Bleach is the first game I want to import. How easy are the menus to read?

If you have a Fry's Electronics near you, check them out as they have a bunch of PSP import stuff. Then you won't have to pay for shipping and wait to get the game.

Maybe I was a little hasty in saying that, as I do love my DS for Phoenix Wright! But I can honestly say my DS has just been collecting dust since I beat Justice for All months ago (bring on Trials & Tribulations!)

I dunno I guess I don't really like DS games very much because there aren't many games that are very deep or have good storylines (except Phoenix Wright). I guess I like console-ish games on my handhelds, even though I know what people will say... "WHY DON'T YOU JUST PLAY GAMES ON YOUR CONSOLE THEN!"

I don't mind games that are Japanese text heavy as I am learning the language so it would be good practice for me. Sooooo anyone know of any import PSP games with a great story?

Edit: Thanks for all the Bleach Heat the Soul recommendations, if that many people like it, it must be pretty decent. I'll probably pick that up along with other stuff.

You could get the Japanese version of Phoenix wright 3 & 4. That was you could get what you really want and it would help with your Japanese.

Otherwise get the PSP game DJ Max Portable if you like beatmania rhythm games.

Hmmm... DJ Max Portable. Is the entire game as hard as the demo? I downloaded the demo for that game and after repeatedly playing it, I was like "Damn! I fail at life!". I totally stink at rhythm games, but it was fun. Now if I could only last more than 30 seconds in the game...

Is that the game that is supposed to be the spiritual prequel to Odin Sphere? I'm utterly enamored with that game right now, so that may be a really good choice for what to get, thanks! I'll go do some research on it to see how it looks and plays. Thanks again!

The menus are in english. Just look up the mission objective and thats about it.

Thanks for the response. I'll be grabbing it from ebay or playasia as soon as I catch up on the recent episodes.

Exit 2. Main game is totally english, but it does come with small guide to explain how to play (didn't need it). Good one since it won't come to the US (most likely).

Do you like racing games? My Initial D Street Stage UMD is 'glued' to my psp =). I have not played any other games since I got it.

The game got a Europe release so there is an english version around

Most import DS games aren't even real games to begin with.

Man, they should get the Department of Homeland Security to take a look at these ports.

Most import DS games aren't even real games to begin with.
He's got you there.
Man, they should get the Department of Homeland Security to take a look at these ports.
Good ports to handheld > non-gaming shit and gimmicky touch screen games.

I only listed games which will never come stateside. So what if some are ports to games we never got stateside, like Twinbee Portable for an example. Plus, the PSP screen makes 2D classical compilations superior.

Don't worry guys, he's pretty much a Sony fanboy.

Edit: If you like Gundam stuff, then the G Generation series on PSP is decent.
I know I'm missing some.
yup, there's this new Korean rhythm game called

Audition Portable

I gotta get my hands on it soon, or at least get my hands on some videos of it

Would you recommend DJ Max Portable to someone who isn't that into rhythm games? I have seen a few videos for the 1st game on G4 a while ago and loved the music that was in them. But 60$ is little to expensive for a game that I'm not sure that I'd like.

Is the music in the japanese Lumines II that much better than the american version? i haven't been paying attention to it at all...

...
Parodius Portable
...

nice. i love the parodius games, but i haven't gotten around to actually playing the portable version. how does the PSP widescreen compare to the 4:3 TV setup it was designed for?

Taiko no Tatsujin is a lot of fun on PSP actually.
The first one has Katamari on the Rocks!

I guess its coming to the US now, but Parappa the Rapper can be set to be completely in English. And I got it for 1980 yen (about $16) at some random store in Akihabara :)

Also, if you're into fighters at all, the Japanese version of Guilty Gear Judgement includes Guilty Gear XXSlash instead of GGXX#Reload like the US one.

aw man... I played Audition Portable.

it sucks!!!

it's basically Bust a Move but with less personality and worse music
