Seals on Wii Games

I got a copy of Raving Rabbids last night and I look at the seal today and it looks like a real hack job. The case looks fine but it out of curiousity I'm wondering if it's re-sealed. There is no seal or anything on the case itself, is this normal for Wii games?

No, there's no seal. Just like Gamecube games. Some games look like shit sealed. Rayman wasn't one of the ones I noticed, though. Far Cry's seal was loose and flimsy, the other ones seemed to be sealed pretty tight.

I don't understand why Nintendo won't use security seals like MS or some of the PS2 games. Hell, they could make it look like a coin from Mario. That would be awesome.

My copy of Raving Rabbids was the same way. It looked like someone sealed it with cling wrap and a iron. I look at every copy in the store and it was the same way....
Well, I'm glad it's not just me, but it is frustrating and looks like shit.
Does it stay sealed in your collection?

No, but if I buy somethng new, I want to make sure it is new when I actually open it.

Is it just Rayman? I kinda expected that when I clicked on this thread. Seems like I've read that a lot. I have 7 Wii titles, had 2 others in my possession and all have had the standard factory seal.

I only have one other game: Zelda and I can't remember what type of seal it had. I have to think it was the 'normal' professional seal because I noticed Rayman right away.

My Rayman looked factory sealed, but my Super Swing Golf looks like a resealed, even though I know it isn't. It's kinda like some DS games you know?

Mine looked resealed also. It was from Gamestop so I have no clue if it was or not.

Any idea which DS games? Maybe its all from Ubi? I can't think if a DS game I've bought that didn't have the regular seal. For the PS2 I've bought a handful of games that had that crappy sandwich wrap seal, don't recall which ones but they seemed new and intact despite the bad seal.

just the top of my head - bomerman ds, castlevania PoR, Lunar DS

My Copy of Rayman looked like somebody did it with a hairdryer, so you're not alone. I got mine at wal-mart and they all looked that way. I think Ubi-Soft is just cheap, or the shrinkwrappers all pre-play the games.

Why did i think this was about Navy Seals? Like a new Seal game...

but yea, when i bought Rayman from Costco it had the same crap shrinkwrap...

Mega Man ZX, Castlevanias, Viewtiful Joe, etc.

I was thinking more of a Sea World game like the Gamecube Universal Studios game.

I got Metal Slug Collection and I noticed the same thing. It seems like the Wii games are wrapped in vaccum packed sandwich bags.

Jeez, I wouldn't worry about it. At least you didn't pick up Battalion Wars and Fire Emblem "NEW" at Gamestop like I did only to realize that the cases had been gutted because they were "Last copies." I'm sorry, but if I buy a NEW game I don't want it coming out of a plastic baggy...at least the product registrations were still included.

I got my Rayman with the crappy shrink-wrap. It isn't fair to say these aren't factory-sealed because they ARE - just in a crappy way. But unfortunately it looks just like a cheap re-seal job that a thief/switcher might do. They really need to use folded-style shrink-wrap for all new games. But as Botticus said, many Ubisoft and Konami GC and DS games are wrapped this way for some reason. I have a sealed Prince of Persia Sands of Time with the same wrapping. And it's not just them - the Gun (Activision) I bought at TRU during the latest sale was like this as well - I've opened it and it is clearly new, so surely it came this way (plus all 10 copies in the store were the same).

On the flip side I bought what looked like a re-sealed Shrek Super Party at a GR in Atlanta when on a business trip. Since this is a rare/semi-valuable game I was willing to snatch it up and either keep it or resell (especially after I read the reviews ). When I got home I noticed it seemed a bit lighter than it should. I took it into my local BB and opened it in front of them - sure enough, completely empty. The damn GR in Atlanta had sold me a "display" box (it had the new price sticker and all on it - most likely just some clueless employee found it and stickered it for sale). The GR in Atlanta just said (in effect) "tough shit" when my store called them. Fortunately my local store gave me a credit for it.

So, anyway, they really ought to stick to the "good" factory-sealing for all games (and a security sticker would be nice as well - but they've dropped those from PS2 games). It would help immensely with retail return fraud as well - all CS people could be trained to reject any non-factory sealing (or at least open suspicious ones). But they can't do that unless EVERY game is sold that way.

part of it may be the store adding their security devices inside of the games. I've noticed a few times that I have those stupid magnetic stickers inside the case on a sealed game.

my guess is that they are shipped unsealed and the security device is then added and they are sealed up by the retailer (it's only a guess).

One trend I have noticed at best buy is that games that are in the hard-shell case have a better seal than ones that are not. The ones in the hard shell case have the security device on the case. The ones without that case have the security devices inside the game.

I work gaming retail.

I will say that all of our copies of Rayman and Red Steel that we have been sent, have had that "crappy" shrinkwrap.

None of the other Wii games we have been sent look like that. I'm guessing it might be a Ubisoft thing.

Though not Ubisoft, my copy of Metal Slug Anthology came the way your copy of Rayman did.
