Thread

I've been using Speedway gas stations rewards program for years. They have a lot of different rewards, but few know that they have some gaming related rewards. I first posted about this and it drew a bit of attention. I looked into the program even further to find even more ways to earn points while shopping for video games. I figured I'd share them with the CAG community that has done so much to save me money on games.

I assure you that I don't work for the company or anything like that. If anyone out there does, and knows any ways to maximize points, be sure to help us out.

It was brought to my attention by cusoman that the company also runs this program at a chain called SuperAmerica.

There are certain bonus point opportunities each month. I'll be doing my best to update them in this thread as they change.

First the basics...

Information from the official program web site...

Earning points is Fast, Free & Easy!™ Just visit any participating Speedway location and automatically receive 20 points per $1 spent, excluding restricted items, for purchases of food, drink, and merchandise. Also receive 10 points per gallon of fuel purchased. Be sure to look for the gold star throughout the store to earn bonus points for purchasing selected products!

Current Video Game Rewards are as follows...

15,000 Points -

NOTE: These rewards have been around for years now. I haven't seen them change. I remember using a Gamestop GC for Smash Bros. Brawl when it was originally released in March of 2008.

IMPORTANT: In my original post, I said that you could redeem points for Speedway GCs and in, use them on the any of the gaming related items. The back of the GCs say they can't be used on merchandise cards.

You can also earn Speedy Rewards points by shopping at your favorite online retailer through the Speedy Rewards Mall. Only two of them are showing expiration dates, so I'll keep an eye on them and let you guys know if anything changes. There are a few special offers listed for most of the merchants, but you'll have look through those on your own.

Current Video Game related Mall Merchants are as follows...

As suggested by Burchamj...

A great way to earn extra points is to purchase Speedway GCs before your transaction. You earn bonuses on the cards.

$25 Speedy Cash Food & Merchandise Card = 500 Bonus Points
$100 Speedy Cash Gift Card = 1,500 Bonus Points

After buying the card, simply have the cashier ring up your transaction and pay with the gift card. The first time I tried this, I earned 1,176 points instead of 176 on a $54.40 transaction. I purchased 2 packs of cigarettes. You don't earn points on (same with Lotto). You don't earn points on the base price of the Speedway Gift Card. Only the bonus. However, you do you receive points on the transaction where you spend the gift card.

There are plenty of other bonus point offers (though I don't recommend gas station food, by any means)...

These are all valid June 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011

From time to time, I've been sent postcard in the mail alerting me of a way to earn 7,000 bonus points. You had to visit the store 10 days and make a purchase within a specified 2 weeks. It didn't matter the purchase (cigarettes worked, didn't try Lotto). If I get one of these I'll relay.

If I missed anything, let me know. Hopefully, this works out for some of you.

FYI, this is the same company and rewards program for the Twin Cities (and maybe beyond) gas chain "SuperAmerica".

I had no idea I could redeem my points for XBL points. I've been earning them for years, never redeemed any. Thanks!

I've been doing this for a while now, got a 1600 MSP card and a $25 Gamestop card so far. If you frequent them like I do (almost every morning, even if it's just to get a drink on the way to work) it's pretty easy to build up points quickly.

Didn't know about the 10 or 14 days = mega bonus points thing mentioned in the OP though. Is there any more info on that? How do we know what days we need to purchase on? EDIT - oops, never mind. I logged in on the rewards site and there's a section for current bonus offers.

March 1 - March 31: "Tropicana 12 oz or Ocean Spray 15 oz with any Hot Breakfast Sandwich or Pizza Slice" = 500 pts

Seems like a fairly easy way to build up right now, if that's something you'd buy anyway.

The key to getting a lot of points, is buy 50.00 speedway gift cards, and then use those for all your purchases.. 1000 points every time you buy a gift card. Though, im sure i get them faster as i work at a driving school... :)
Im about to pick up a gamestop gift card today.

Yep, nice call on the gift cards. I'll probably give that a shot this weekend. To clarify - after I buy the 50 dollar gift card, do you still get points on stuff if you pay for it with that gift card later? Or should I just "sell" the gift card to a family member for 50 bucks and continue making regular purchases until they use up the 50 dollars on the card?

Did a redo on the OP in this thread after looking into the program more. I'll keep it going as long as there's interest.

Now that it's done, I'm going to play some RDR.

This is a pretty good rewards program, and I thank you for all of the info, OP. But it looks like they aren't even in my state. :(

I ordered Babysitting Mama for my daughters for in store pick-up at BB using the Speedy Rewards Mall. Waiting to see how long it takes my 435 points to post.

They just posted today, so it took 10 days. According to the site, they posted on the 13th, but I've been checking every day. I received an email about it today, and it is the first time they've actually appeared on my reward statement.

Didn't think it would take that long, but it's a bonus on top of something I was ordering anyway.

On the plus side, I was given 450 points instead of 435. I guess they rounded up to the nearest dollar.

I need less than 5,000 points to get another PSN card. I'll use that for the MvC 3 characters. No way I'm spending $5/ea cash.

The best way I have found to rack up points is to purchase a 50 dollar speedway gift card before you get gas because that gives you 1000 bonus points for every 50 dollar giftcard purchased. Then after you purchase your giftcard go pump your gas to get more speedy points. Also for every 6 food club items you buy you get a coupon for 1000 bonus points. So if you buy 6 hotdogs(2 for 2 dollars) you would get 1000 bonus points for 6 dollars. Also I have been invited to participate in the 7000 bonus point promotion that was mentioned earlier 3 times for a total of 21000 bonus points.

I haven't updated this thread in a while, but now it's up to date. They added some new online retailers to the Speedy Rewards Mall. I wish I would've known that Buy.com was one of them. I placed an order with them earlier today.

I noticed earlier today that they aren't giving the 1,000 bonus points for the $50 card this month. That's OK. You can just get two of the $25s and get 1,000.

with the speedy rewards mall; all my best buy purchases are done through that and I get speedy points and reward zone points.

I only wish gamestop offered instore pickup for most of the products and I would be all over it!!!

With gas prices being what they are thats about 6 $25 gift cards to fill up both mine and wifes vehicles every two weeks or so. Factoring in the points for gas thats about 5100 points per month. Not too shabby for a 1600 Msft points card about every 4 months.
