Suggested PS3 Rpgs

RPG's? On the PS3?

There's really only one worth noting, and thats Valkyria Chronicles which is a strategy RPG.

Other than that...there's Enchanted Arms, Disgaea 3 and Eternal Sonata. I think that's it. Unless something like Fallout 3 counts.

EDIT: Forgot about Folklore. It's sort of an action RPG. Good game.

Get the following in this order:

Valkyria Chronicles
Folklore
Eternal Sonata

Have fun!

... and R&C Future isn't an RPG. Just FYI.

Not really a lot of rpgs in general for the ps3, but I've played folklore (which, imo, is not really an rpg, per se), and it was loads of fun.

R and C? (Ratchet and Clank?)

I would recommend...
Valkyria Chronicles - Japanese Strategy RPG with that mixes up a bit
Disgaea 3 - A typical Japanese Strategy/Tactical RPG (sort of like Final Fantasy Tactics) with a great light hearted story.
Fallout 3 - I wonder if you include this here too, but has that great exploring element of an rpg.

Games that appear to be interesting -
Demon Soul (Asian ver.) - Looks boring as h***, still has a certain allure to it (might be as good as Baulders Gate or Diablo). I wonder if online cooperative play for the Asian Version works for US psn.
Folklore - Heard good things about it, but I never went for it (looking from pics... it reminds me of Jade Cocoon)

Games to look foward to -
White Knight Story - Looks average, but still an rpg.
Last Remnant - This game seem to have gone awol for the ps3 (didn't even get good reviews for 360)

Long shot-
Diablo 3 - Never likely to make it to ps3...but I'm hoping cause I have a crappy computer.

Excellent order to experience these games. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them, though ultimately I enjoyed the gameplay of Eternal Sonata more than that of Folklore.

Valkyria Chronicles is, IMO, the best game on the system (certainly the best exclusive).

I also had a love affair with Eternal Sonata, which I think is just magnificent - particularly on the PS3.

And if you're feeling ambitious, you can't go wrong with Oblivion, which you can easily sink 100+ hours into.

yeah burnout paradise is certainly also an RPG.
Ratchet and clank future (never really played but told leveling system similar to Fallout3, true?)

Demons Soul (Asian Version, Full English), this game is SOLD OUT everywhere in Japan, Getting really high praise from Jappanesse gamers, I ordered it from Play-Asia.com

Online works globally (US can play with Japan etc.)
I was going to ask about Disgaea 3 - is it worth getting for a strategy RPG noob or would I be lost?
All S-RPGs are basically the same*. You can start with any of them and it won't matter. Just don't get too bogged down with all the numbers and shit. Maybe try Disgaea 1 first, if you have a PS2/PSP/Backwards-compatible PS3.

*Ok, fine. Not Valkyria Chronicles. :/

Suikoden on PSN and Genesis Collection contains Phantasy Star 1-4 and Shinning Force 1-2.

From what I heard, if you haven't played a srpg at all, then don't start with the Disgaea series. If you had played a game or two, of just know the core mechanics and you have a general feel for the genre, then considered yourself somewhat prepared for Disgaea 3.

Note: From a friend who's a big fan of the series: "If you never achieve a character level in the quadruple digits, then you're not playing the game right."

Valkyria Chronicles is worth paying retail, playing, and writing a review to get others to play it so yeah, first pick.

Eternal Sonata has 2 player (or so I've heard) so it may be worth it just for that.

I've heard Folklore is good too.

Avoid Disgaea if you don't like GRINDING. GRINDING. And GRINDING. I love grinding so I love Disgaea but yes, GRINDING.

Basically if half the trade forum is looking for it (Valkyria) then it's worth a look. If you're looking to buy R&C I'm selling a copy on my lowball auction which is currently at $16.50 so check it out!

If I remember correctly in the 360 version you could have up to three players (one for each party member) during combat. I don't know how that is a selling point, IMO. Maybe it's a sign that I need friends or something...

The multi-player aspect in ES is not much of a selling point, because it's turn-based meaning it's barely better than just passing a single controller around. Definitely a step back from multiplayer action-RPGs like the Tales or Crystal Chronicles series.

I just got Disgaea 3 over the weekend and it's a fun game to play. 6 hours blow by and you wonder what happened!?!?!

Valkyria Chronicles is with out question the best RPG for PS3! As was already mentioned worth the full price...... as for Folklore not really my cup of tea.

I'm really curious about Demon's Soul (appears to have Diablo, Baulder's Gate vibe). Anyone had the chance to sink in couple of hours into that game? How was the online mode? Whats the major appeal of Demon's Soul (Randomly generated items? Dungeons?)?

I loved Valkyria Chronicles...but about a half way I figured out the 'trick' to getting Rank A doesn't involve how many enemies you would have to eliminate....the game got boring and I couldn't get myself to play the game properly. Are they bringing the dlc for this game to the states?
