I'm not sure what to do with this. Now this seems like an amazing deal but I'm not sure if I should buy it. I already hav e the better movies on DVD so I'm not sure if it is worth it to upgrade those movies then get 4 other mel brooks movies. Should I get this or not? That is the questions.
Well, there are no good answers when it comes to whether you should double-dip on blu-rays that you already own on DVD. It really depends on how you feel about it. A few questions that you might ask regarding the movies you already have:
1. How often do you watch these movies? Are they something that you'll likely watch multiple times in the future, or will they sit on your shelf to gather dust?
2. How important is the video and audio quality on these movies to you? Do you think that having them in HD will significantly enhance the experience for you?
Regarding the movies that you don't already have:
3. How interested are you in them? Do you not own them yet because you just haven't gotten around to them, or do you not really care about them?
4. Are they anything that you're likely to watch multiple times, or will you only watch them once? If you'll only watch them once, do you need to own them, or would getting them from Netflix or wherever be good enough?
For myself, I've done a number of double-dips. The way that I've been able to justify them has been that if I cared enough about the movie to have bought it on DVD in the first place (especially since I didn't used to buy nearly as many movies as I do now), then there's a good chance that I care about it enough to want the best quality (on the other hand, this very logic has served to stop me from double-dipping on some titles as well, when I've decided that I really don't care that much after all). But like I said, it really depends on you, how important the quality improvement is to you, how much the films matter to you, and whether you can justify buying the same movie again.
