Haunted prison video game turned movie? THE SUFFERING is on its way!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with yet another video game picked up for a feature film. This time it's the survivalist horror game that follows an inmate on death row in prison. He suffers from blackouts and he awakens one day to find the door to his cell open and all hell has broken loose inside the prison. The game is a fight to freedom, past monsters and demons and some really inventive horrors. If I remember correctly the main monsters represented different forms of execution, like a little bastard that has glowing green needles sticking out all over its body. He throws these atcha, the
er. There's also representative for hanging and electrocution.
The game was very much in the spirit of SILENT HILL and RESIDENT EVIL, but I have to say I thought it was a bit more creative than those two. Since MTV Films is who picked up the feature film rights for the video game I'm not holding out much hope. I think this could be a great atmospheric creepfest with bits of ALIENS-like action, but I fear it's going to turn into a clone RESIDENT EVIL and fall into the horror/actioneer genre. Although, Stan Winston's involvement is promising!
