Ok, since I have a PS3 now, curious if the NCAA games are any good? I'm sure the 06 is cheap now since 07 is on the way. I REALLY enjoyed MVP 05 on the XBOX (but no BC made it worthless).

So, how are the NCAA baseball games?

I thought it was boring, its just not the same without the MLB teams. Might as well wait for MLB2k7 which is turning out to be real good it seems. Its getting a total rework which im hoping will mirror the Triple Play to MVP change. It doesnt hurt that one of the head designers for MVP is in charge of this years 2k7 :D

The 360 version is better atm from what the previews on IGN say

MVP 06 was decent. I hated swinging with the stick, but you can change it to classic mode. Also, using the right stick for defense takes a little getting used to. There's an option to use MLB rules and wooden bats. One thing they added that I really liked was the behind the pitcher view when you're pitching. If you can find it under $20, get it.

I may try it for $20...I think EB has it for $10 used for the older version. Although, I do plan on getting MLB 2K7 for the 360.

MVP 06 was really good for a first effort at an NCAA game. The analog controls are really nice, but there's the option to use button controls if they're not to your liking. MVP 07 will be really good with the new Rock and Fire pitching mechanic.

I was just looking back on all my fond memories of MVP 05 (OMG ur EA fanboy!) on the Operation Sports forums. Why this game isn't backwards compatible yet, but ASB 2003 and 2005 ARE, is beyond me. MVP NCAA was a great baseball game, mainly because of the MVP engine. The college atmosphere last year was terrible, but I hear EA is fixing it for this year. I'll probably pick it up, since it's pretty cheap, and will fill the baseball game void until MLB07/MLB2K7 comes out.

So, are you saying I should wait for NCAA 07 to arrive? I saw NCAA 06 for $15 at GameRush and I think it's 10 used at EB. I just want some baseball action. MLB 2K7 will be my main game though.

Wait for the new NCAA to arrive, I think it comes out in 2 weeks or so(I really didn't like last years especially on PS2, the xbox version was smoother I thought). I would pick up MVP 05 though also, as I was just playing it the other day and it is far and away the best baseball game ever made. Very Very good.

I actually would LOVE to get MVP 05 again, but I really want an updated roster on the PS3...not sure if there is a way to transfer those yet.

I almost picked up NCAA 06 today for $10 used...I had it, put it down.

Good choice. Just save that $10 for the one that comes out in 2 weeks. the extra $30 you will have to spend will probably be worth it. Can't say for certain but you certainly aren't missing out on anything by not playing last years version. If you are going to get an old version of a baseball game, go with MVP 05

Anyone find a way to take a PS2 save and use it on PS3 (w/o having to get all those adapters)????

If so, I would get MVP 05...if not, I may get NCAA with the GameRush buy 2, get 1 deal coming up.

Yeah, I'm sure a deal will happen eventually on this game also....maybe I'll rent if first, we'll see. I'm curious how this Rock-and-Fire pitching and the Load hitting works.

Im picking it up tomorrow so I'll be sure to post impressions. I thought I saw somewhere on this site that somebody had posted the EGM review of it and it had gotten 4 out of 5 stars.

Got a Gamepro in the mail today and it got 4 out of 5

Pros: Solid pitching/pitching mechanic. Entertaining Minigames

Cons: Dull graphics and audio

It says the controls will test your patience at times but ultimately add to the overall experience.

Not much of a review but 4 out of 5 is pretty good.

This will be in Gamestops today, correct? Or does it ship today and arrive in stores tomorrow?

Edit: Called Gamestop and I guess it ships today and isn't in stores until tomorrow. Sucks.

Got this this morning. All I can say is EA is a waste of time. Pretty much the exact same as 06 with a new pitching control (which isn't that special).

If anyone else has this post your opinions, I'll post mine now:

This is a heaping pile of junk.

This is the EXACT same game as last year with a new pitching method. They didn't even bother to change announcers phrases. They say the EXACT same stuff. Same crap made up stadiums. Same crap slowdown when you have 2 or more guys on base.

One last thing. In between pitches, the computer batters will take practice swings and step out for a bit. Sometimes you are just sitting there waiting for 5 secs. It is the most obnoxious thing I have seen in awhile in a sports game. I can't figure out a way to stop it either. You can turn off catcher throwbacks but that doesn't affect the wait time for the batter. Ridiculous.

I have come to expect this junk from EA but this is the worst I have seen of them yet, as far as no updates in a game.

I'm loving it so far. Rock and Fire is really nice and the tweaked Load and Fire is easier to work with. I'm liking the enhanced college atmosphere, too. I like the new stadium I've seen already, though I haven't played much of it yet. I look forward to diving a little deeper into this game.

If you're really jonesing for them roster updates, I've heard that there's a mixup with rosters, so you might as well not buy the game if that's your only reason to get it. I don't really care since I don't follow the sport and the roster can't be imported into the pro game, so it's not a big deal for me.

Anybody playing this online?

I may just get MVP 05 for the XBOX and get rosters for that and hook my old XBOX up and do some "things" to it ;) Seems like that is the way to go. I still may pick up NCAA 06 though for $10 or less now.

Did they improve/expand the create a team and create a ballpark/stadium features at all? I'm in for one for about $22 shipped through Google Checkout and won't have it in my hands for awhile.

I'm not sure. Let me check.

Edit: It seems like they're pretty much the same.

Edit: It seems like EVERYTHING is pretty much the same. EA coasted on this one, big time (what's new though).

Have you ever followed a sports game series before? They added enough content (great new pitching mechanic, new minigames, new teams, stadiums, fight songs, tweaks to fielding and batting, and some smaller stuff) to warrant a purchase for me. I'm sorry that you expected a complete reinvention of the series this year.

Look at the difference between 2k5, 2k6 and 2k7 baseball. Major changes each year. Some for the better, some for the worse BUT at least they attempted to do some new stuff instead of using the EXACT same game and implementing a new pitching method.

They couldn't even go out of their way to get the major conference stadiums into the game. It's pathetic.

What major changes are you refering to? All I'm seeing is that 2K6 added scouting and an analog swing (not long after MVP 06 came out) and 2K7 is just working on fixing what 2K6 with a visual upgrade.

Well, I rented MVP 07 and it was ok. There was still slowdown though (never played 06). It actually got the point of annoyance. The game was decent, the pitching thing is rather lame....I could do without it actually. Glad I rented....it's fun, but 06 may be just fine for me.

I hope MLB 2K7 meets all my needs. I think I actually used the old hitting system in 2K6, rather than swing stick. EA seemed a bit more fluid.
