USPS lost my package – what are my options?

E-Z-B

CAGiversary!
Not sure where else to turn for help right now. I placed a “Hold Mail Request” online from Fri, Mar 25 through Sat, Apr 2. When I came home on Saturday, all my mail was piled up at my door. I had a package that was delivered with tracking on it, and when I looked it up online, it said that it was delivered on Monday, Mar 28th. But the package was no where to be found.

I figure the company will not do anything about it since in their eyes it was delivered. Since the post office was supposed to hold my mail (I even have the confirmation number), and they delivered it anyway, should they cover the cost of the lost merchandise? They did an investigation, but as usual, came up with a white-washed conclusion. I talked to my apartment office, and they said the mail carrier stopped in the office and even said something about all my mail piled up at my door. Guess that didn’t clue them in to check if I had a “Hold Mail Request”.

Has anyone else experienced this before? What’s your advice? Am I screwed, or can I get USPS to reimburse me? Thanks.

next time...go IPS

I ordered stuff from www.gexpress.com a few months ago, it was delivered USPS with delivery tracking, but no package was on my doorstep and I went home and looked about a couple hours after the confirmed delivery time...nothing...someone must have stolen it, I suspected (does my mailman really covet my Katamari Damacy?).

Anyway, I contacted gexpress and they had insured the package. It took about a week of sorting out they had to do and filing a claim with usps, but they offered to replace or refund, no hassle.

I suggest calling or emailing the company you bought from. If it's an ebay individual or other non-incorporated seller, you may be SOL.

My friend had this problem, the company wouldn't refund his payment so he simply did a credit card charge back, I wonder if they hit his credit report with a mark.

Not just yet, you may still have a chance. Contact the company that you ordered from and explain the situation, and hopefully they'll send out another one which you should get.

I ordered something from Best Buy and it supposedly came, but it wasn't at the apartment office or at the post office. Nobody knew where my package was, so I e-mailed them and they sent out another. I got that second package and the first package ended up being send back from where ever it had gone. So you still have a chance.

I don't think it gets to your credit report. I had a simmilar situation with Target gift card a year and a half ago around Christmas. Remember the $100 gift cards for $70 deal? :) I put “Hold Mail Request” and went to Vegas. When I came back to NYC my mailbox was full and it had no GC.. I went to the PO and asked for my mail. They only had my mail from the day before...motherffffockers...No GC. I called Target, they checked the number and .....it was used. I used my amex to order it, so I called amex and filed dispute charges. Few weeks later I got my refund.
Nothing on my credit report.

Thanks for your help everyone. I may try to contact my credit card to see what can be done.
