USPS says "delivered." It wasn't. (twice in two days?!)

Made an order from Amazon last week and used FSSS since I dropped Prime a few weeks ago. It was split into two shipments. One was a Blu-Ray, the other was a CD & card game. Both are coming via USPS.

Tuesday the Blu-Ray package was out for delivery but I never got it. Checked the status this morning and it says "delivered" Tuesday around 10:30 am. That was not the case, and I rarely if ever get mail that early.

Today I checked the status of the second package and it said out for delivery. I got the mail a few hours ago and there was no package (the second package definitely would have been too large for the mailbox so I checked the porch, and nothing). At this point I'm expecting the same thing to happen - sometime in the next several hours it'll say delivered even though I didn't get it.

Anyone had this happen and come up with a satisfactory solution? I'm not sure what I can do, or if there is anything I really can do. Sure I'll call the post office tomorrow morning but I doubt they'll give a shit.

I have fairly close neighbors near my cross-street with the same house number as me so I may go check with them tonight, but this is the first time this has ever happened (and I order a *ton* of shit online) and now it has happened twice in two days. I was home when the mail was delivered yesterday and only out for a brief time when it was delivered today, so it is very unlikely that someone was stealing them (especially off the porch since it is not near the street/sidewalk).

Was it actually USPS or was it UPS? I've had the same thing with Amazon deliveries via UPS, and I suspect that they were stolen from my porch. Amazon reshipped the items for me without incident.

You may want to check with the post office, not sure if it helps, but they scan the item as they are putting it in the mailbox or as they are handing it over the counter.

It could be in the back somewhere.

With UPS, usually my item says delivered almost 24 hours before I get it, so not sure if it's common.

usps.

I had an incident similar. I went on vacation and had my mail held. They had a package for me, that the tracking listed online as note left. I received no note and it was not with my mail that I picked up. They ended up finding it and another package that was without tracking in someone else's mail that was being held.

I was glad I got the items, then I realized I hadn't gotten my credit card rewards ($200 gift card). I'm guessing it got put in their mail too. Unfortunately, I never received that. Luckily my credit card company credited me the $200 but I'm pretty sure that UPSP screwed it up. I'd do two things.

First I'd contact the post office and give them the tracking letter and see if your post office can figure out if they can find it. Secondly, I'd work through amazon customer service to let them know that you didn't receive the item and open a claim. If by some chance you do end up receiving the items you can drop the claim or have customer service recharge you.

This is the first year I've had Prime but I love it for the sole fact that UPS is 10x better than my local USPS service.

Address was the first thing I checked. It's fine.

And I'm just waiting to see if the package that was supposed to be here today winds up marked as "delivered" or if it is marked "delivery exception" (ie something went wrong and it'll be here tomorrow).

Either way I'll be going to the post office in the morning and contacting Amazon, since the first package is MIA regardless. I've heard stories of them sending replacements for free when this happens but who knows if they'll do that in this case.

sadly 2 shippments lost in a row will probally mean your account will be banned from amazon if you 2 shipments are lost i doubt they will be willing to allow you to keep making orders

The only time this ever happened to me was when:

- my mailbox was blocked by something, i.e. the mail car couldn't reach it

- my mail was given to my neighbor by mistake (luckily they are honest and gave it to me

Call or go see them in person. Had this happen once before, talked directly to the postman at some point. They found and delivered the package a few days later.

An update...

Went to the post office Friday morning. The guy in charge was remarkably nice considering my usual post office experience. Was extremely apologetic and I could actually see him going to the back and reaming the carrier that delivers to me. He told me (as I suspected) that it was likely delivered to the address near my cross-street that has the same house number as I do. So I'm giving that all of today before I start asking around about it again tomorrow. The best possible scenario is the people at the other address were not home when the mailman went to inquire about it yesterday, and they left the package out for re-delivery today. That's a lot of things to hope for - for all I know the people at that address just opened it and decided they wanted to keep the Blu-Ray.

I managed to get the second package yesterday - mail carrier apparently didn't bother to update his tracking at the end of the day Wednesday. That was the bulk of where the money was on my order, but I'd still like that remaining 8 bucks to produce a product on my doorstep. If it doesn't show up and the people at the other address just play dumb I'll try contacting Amazon to see if they'll send a replacement.

Amazon comes through again. They are replacing it and gave me free one-day shipping to boot. Not that I wasn't already pretty loyal to them, but they've earned it today.

Still hate that idiot mailman.

It may not have been YOUR normal mailman. The post office isn't really hiring many new career employees in.most areas. As carriers retire, the USPS is hiring in new people at a lower wage, few benefits, to cut costs. These new people are glorified temps. Also, in areas where they are closing facilities(been all over news nation wide a few months ago), they are making the indoor guys switch to carrying mail, basically start a new job. Both of these instances are happening in.my area.

It's the same guy we've had for years. He's just a shitty mailman. Not the first time stuff has gotten mixed up with neighbors and/or the similar address on my cross street, but this was the first time anything of real value was involved. Fortunately everything turned out fine thanks to Amazon, but I hope the guy doesn't expect a tip at Christmas this year.

Nice ending to your situation. I've had similar problems with a moronic mailman. Makes me weary of ordering something that will get delivered via USPS.

Just had the same thing happen with USPS involving a wifi router from Amazon. Shows delivered saturday, going to call them tomorrow morning and depending on how they respond, will be contacting Amazon CS tomorrow afternoon.

People wonder why USPS is in the toilet, this is one reason. No one can rely on them, because so much crap goes missing or is delivered to the wrong place. Sure it might be the cheapest shipper, but that's if you can get it delivered correctly.

Pretty much like previous posts, my route has different people delivering the mail each day. Since the regular guy retired, we now have basically temps doing the route that have 2-3 times in the past month delivered my stuff to houses down the street(including my new debit card). I don't think complaining to the PO has helped either, since I've seen that person delivering on the route a couple times since then.

*Edit- called the PO earlier, since they were open until 7pm. Apparently whoever answered the phone talked to the carrier, who just got back to the PO. Looks like it's lost or delivered to another house, so someone else is enjoying a free router.

Contacted Amazon, who issued a refund and told me to re-order with 1 day shipping and they would then waved the fee for the 1 day shipping. Already ordered and expecting it on wednesday, so hopefully this one is either shipped by UPS or Fedex. Which it probably will, since it's more than likely going to be overnighted from Arizona(where the last one came from) since it's from the same third party fulfillment seller.

Yeah, post offices really are cutting down. Especially in smaller towns. I worked in my college's mailroom for 3 years before graduating this May and one of the supervisors there worked for USPS for 30 years beforehand, so I talked a lot with him and our USPS deliverers about this. While some of the mailmen aren't good (KaneRobot's certainly isn't) a lot of them are good folks that have really been put in hard times now.

Im currently dealing with this same situation...there was an ebay auction I was waiting on and after a week other stuff paid for after was starting to roll in. So I hit the seller up and they dropped the DC on me showing it was delivered just before 5:30pm. The day it was marked I have no doubt in my mind it wasnt delivered to me because I got home about 5 or 10 mins before TMZ came on and it hits at 6pm. So this past monday I called and told them about it. When I got home this same past monday, I was talking to my neighbor and I found out it was a new guy on the route. As we talked I checked my mail about 6:30pm and got 3 bills and that was it.

Yesterday morning I checked the DC on another auction and it said it was delivered just after 5pm...which was bullshit.

I made it a point to go into town and be at the post office at 8am when they opened. After talking with a supervisor, because for some reason now we dont get access to the post master anymore, they took the DC and looked it up and in their system it showed it was an attempted delivery and a notice was left so they went to the back and found it. It was a regular bubble envelope one size up from the standard plain white envelope. So I told them nevermind the fact that he marked it delivered and according to their system 2hrs later marked it as "notice left" when the damn thing would have fit in the mailbox regardless so no notice was needed.

I get having 1 or 2, maybe 3 issues a year but to have 2 on the same route at the same house within 2wks? GTFOH.....time to get a po box elsewhere.

yeah I know...cool story bro....

Funny because I also had to deal with this issue recently. I had a package that said out for delivery. Went to check my mail and it was nowhere to be found. I check tracking later in the day and it says "resident not home, notice left." Well I had been home all day, and there was no notice left. I go to the post office the next day with the tracking number and they basically tell me they have no idea where it is. Hopefully the carrier has it with him. Great help that was...

I just decided to wait outside for him, since there was a chance he'd leave again with no notice being left, and luckily when he arrived he had it with him. What happened was since I live in an apartment there's only a small space for packages. Someone hadn't picked up their mail, so he couldn't deliver it. Rather than either just ringing my bell, 5 feet from the mailbox, or actually leaving a note as he lied about doing he just took it back and told no one. Best part is that other person still hadn't picked up his mail so if I hadn't been outside he'd just have took my package back again with me still being left in the dark.

If you have neighbors with similar address number type in the second address option "Do not deliver to address apt/house number" .You're probably pissed off but try to relax.Wait a 4-5 days to see if it shows up.If it doesn't call up USPS,visit your post office and ask if they have your package. If they don't call Amazon.
