I think the DS would be a great system to have a version of the game on. If they could get Mario 64 on DS why not SMB. It be awsome to kick or have my ass kicked through WiFi.

What do you guys think?

If there is one coming I hope that it works with SSMB on the Rev. Some sort of interactivity.

The game also HAS to have 4-player Nintendo Wi-Fi. PERIOD. And take up two screens like Guilty Gear Dust Strikers.

theyve tried interactivity with handhelds on consoles, we all know how big it was. so i say no.

but i mean, you know they are working on smash brothers for DS, they just have to be, they be idiots not to. if there is one thing nintendo can do, its pimp out a franchise.

That would be a good idea, update the graphics a little like SM64 and add extra characters or something and put that shit online.

DS needs a good online fighter.

If they made it, I hope it plays faster than the original, like Melee. After putting so many hours in the 'cube, it's hard to go back and play the original.

I think it was when Jump Superstars came out. But I know I heard somewhere that it was being made. It might not come out soon. But it will probably come out.

i have a feeling we will get some tidbits about it at E3, though the bleach games for the DS I believe is WIFI compatible, but thats for importers only right now

yeah bleach is wifi, its pretty fun too

Wish it was, but no info has even been hinted about it. We'll see at E3 if they choose to or not, but if they don't, I doubt it'll be coming.

Why? The original didn't come out until late in the N64's lifetime, if I'm not mistaken, and the DS has only been out little over a year now. I'm sure we can AT LEAST wait until E3 2007 before we start deciding it'll never happen.

I remember in the early life of the DS or even beforehand it was mentioned as being developed for DS most likely, and nintendo wifi would be integrated probably (before it had a name). I can't remember where I heard it, but I know it was straight from a nintendo employee. Personaally it's either going to be a port/remake of the N64 game, or it will be the 3rd/4th game in the series.

Super Smash Bros. would be a perfect game to play on the DS but the only news I know of a new Super Smash Bros. game is the one on the Revolution which will presumably have WiFi multiplayer. The closest thing to Super Smash Bros. right now is Jump Superstars and the odds of that coming out in the U.S. are very low.
Yeah, the DS could use a good button masher.

/ducks
I would call 2D fighters more button-mashing than Smash Bros., as Smash Bros. there are environments and you move around A LOT, but I won't get into that. :)

you make me sad :(

I'm sure Nintendo is working on a DS version of Super Smash Brothers.

But now that we don't have to buy extra wires to connect the handhelds to a console, it might take off. I'm not saying it's going to be a big as online gaming, but I wouldn't be surprised if more Revolution games connect with the DS then Gamecube games that connect with the GBA.

The key is to not make games that really require the interactivity to be fun. I have FF: CC and Zelda 4 Swords, but those are really games based on the GBA connectivity. It's not bad to have it as an extra thing, where you can unlock additional content or add replay value, but not as a central focus.

Yeah, it took a LONG time to get comfortable, since I played the crap out of the original...but at some point, I went back and had somehow "crossed over" and from then on the original felt too slow.

same here... and I never even owned both. I just am horrible at the second and decently better at the first one.
