I used spray paint on my PS2 and it turned out great.

Since it's a handheld, consider getting a clear spray to seal in the paint or it'll rub off. Don't know the exact term, but your arts and crafts/hobby store should know.

I fingerpainted what I see when I sleep, then they made me see some counselor.

quick question if my project turn out to be perfect. how much would you buy a kit to do-it-yourself custom logo paint on your nintendo ds.... you will love my idea. I start this project becasue i don't want to spend top money of custom paint gameboy advance ( i hope you know what i'm talking about) anyway thanks for advice .... don't forget how much would you pay for the kit

Look up some sites on modding consoles. Particularly case modding. You're really not suposed to use regular spray paint for consoles. Vinyl Dye really works best because it actually dyes the plastic and is very easy to use. Lot of people use it for their PCs, Monitors, Mice, Keyboards, etc.

And if you decide to draw a happy sun on crack it would look something like this -----> :D only more sun like.

When I was elementary school the counselor used to make us finger paint during "group guidance" In expressed how stupid fingerpainting was, and we never had to do it again!

Here's the link that helped me a lot with my console mods..
http://linear1.org/mods/vdye.php

It really is a lot simpler than you would think. For around $8 you could do the paint job you want. First one layer of color. Then use painters tape to make the kingdom hearts symbol on the DS, spray the next layer. Boom you're done. No need to put on a clear coat of anything since it isn't paint it won't rub or scratch off.

Finger painting is NOT stupid. It lets you express your creativity and its a way for the teacher to know if you are crazy by what you paint. It also has many other benefits that dont come to mind...really there are more :D

Do you even know where to find a screwdriver to remove the casing of the GBA/DS? I was just playing around and was trying to remove my SP case, but don't have anything I can use. I think I'd consider doing a nice paint job for my GBA using some Vinyl Dye.

i like silver. it just need a little tune-up ( like logo of game or game pic of game related ) on the cover of the ds

From what I've read from some mod boards, the "Y screwdriver" can be found at certain hardware stores if you look hard enough. Or just skip the hassle and get it online. Though if you're real careful you can just use a small flathead, like from an eye glass repair kit.

i remember finding a screwdriver specially made for this called like the N bit o r something like the play bit, I cant remember. Im sure its around here somewhere..

I tried using a variety of my computer repair tools, none of which worked. Perhaps an investment in a Y screwdriver along with the paint could be worth it. I would really like a badass looking SP and DS, since I bought both at launch and have boring old silver.

Technique, I think what you're referring to is the 'GAME bit', thats how its marketed on ebay and such though theres an actual name that escapes me at the moment. Thats just for N64 and SNES since they use this * shaped screws. GBA, Cube, and DS have different screws, which pissed me off since I'd have to buy 2 different screw drivers. I really want to do case mods on at least all my old consoles. I'm even going to venture into changing the color LEDs on some.

Heres my PS1 I did the other day cause I was excited when I learned about Vinyl dye and didn't want to crack open any other console yet. Lighting sucks at the moment..maybe better pic later..

^^ thats awesome. Does it feel any different or is it the same? and can the paint rub off the slightest bit when you rub your thumb hard? are you thinking of the tri-winged bit?

Tri-wing! Thats what its called! Yea..thats the one for the newer Nintendo stuff, I really want one one so I can do my Wavebirds.

The PS1 doesn't feel any different at all, thats the beauty of Vinyl Dye. Thats why its the preferred method since you can use it to paint your controllers with no wear issues.

I would buy that kit off of you if you were to sell it. Im gettin a DS although i promised myself i would wait til new colors come out. I hate the plain color junk but they are never available at launch >.

My friend went to Walmart and picked up some cans of Krylon Fusion. You don't have to primer, sand, or worry about it eating your plactic DS....and it looks smooth. It's really cheap at Walmart!
Here's a link with color choices:

Or, you can send Decal Girl a graphic of what you want and they'll sent you a vinyl sticker to put on your DS. I bought the classic NES one and it looks pretty cool.
so where could I pick up vinyl dye, like at an auto-shop or hobby-store?
hmm... I'll have to do some investigating...
Yup, I picked it up at a local Kragen. Brand I got was Duplicolor. On that link I gave that guy used Plastikolor or something like that. If you really can't find it, the second best choice is Krylon Fusion because its made for plastic and more easily available. Just under $4 at WalMart.

A Warning about Krylon Fusion though, I would definately not use it on a handheld or controllers because it is just like regular spraypaint, just bonds to plastic better. It would feel different and scratch off, so your better off playing it safe with the vinyl. Same cost, you just might have to do a bit more searching to find the vinyl. This may help...

Oh SnapZizzle! Damn this looks f.u.c.k.i.n.g. tight! The little squares for the speakers bug me a little though. BTW have you received the decal? Have you put it on, how does it fit? Any regrets?

The decal is decent, but I feel gameconsoleskins do a better job. I've got a friend that purchased a "skin" for his Xbox (system sticker, center button, and controller sticker) from gameconsoleskins and it does look sweet. Not to saying that the decal from decal girl was bad, but I think gameconsoleskins wodl have doen a better job.
