Right now, there is a huge divide between gamers about Final Fantasy. For the most part, there is a sort-of separate civil war over JRPG-style gameplay, against Devil May Cry-style action-oriented gameplay. But, the bigger issue is that the divide is over how "to attract gamers to Final Fantasy." The reason why Square Enix got away from JRPG's is because they wanted to attract the mass market. It costs a lot of money to develop video games today, this started around the time [Final Fantasy] XIII was released.
Since [Final Fantasy] XIII was released, Square Enix experimented with various styles of Action games, and this started earlier with the release of Kingdom Hearts, and until Final Fantasy XVI. It got polished in Final Fantasy VII Remake, and then Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. To aid my point, I will link y'all to reviews, and videos. My own content.
