Why does wii sports go for so much?

I'd guess maybe people needed to replace their copy for some reason... maybe they lost it. And since Nintendo doesn't sell these directly, they have to look for copies elsewhere.

Because I don't believe you can buy it without buying a Wii. If someone breaks their copy the only way to replace it is to buy from Ebay.

I personally blame Gamestop for this, they don't sell used Wii's with Wii Sports, they instead sell the Wii without games and Wii Sports for 10.00, which almost always go to resellers (I know I buy em when I see em!). So people buy a used Wii from Gamestop and they want Wii Sports so they have to resort to ebay.

That about sums it up...

That is shady as heck.

What buying games to resell? what is wrong with that? I'm sick of people that think buying games at stores and selling them for profit is wrong. If it is wrong GS and GC ect... would be out of business.

Well that explains the people I saw looking for Wii Sports at Best Buy on Saturday.

I think he means GameStop selling Wii Sports separately. Total BS.

three gamestops around me have them im thinking of picking them up :). (i sold my original copy that came with the new wii i bought, huge mistake!)

Hold on. I'm confused. Are we talking about used Wiis? In that case, how is that shady? You are buying the console and necessary accessories. Unless they require you to bring in Wii Sports as part of the trade-in, which I doubt, because I have never seen a situation where you need to trade in a bundled-in game. In reality, that isn't shady, either, really. They are buying something and reselling it. They can do that in manner that they choose. It's only shady if there is some kind of deception, which I am failing to see here.

I bought a used Wii at a local gamestop for 209.xx and it didn't come with Wii Sports. I contacted nintendo via e-mail and they said they could send me a copy for $20. I gave them my CC info and they sent it out and I received it that week. Score?

Ah. I see. It's used Wiis. I misread, thx for the clarification.

Well - I guess if they price used Wiis and used Wii Sports separately for trade-in value it's not so shady.

I called a couple gamestops and the only one that had a copy of Wii Sports is in Compton. I'm gonna have to drive over there after school to see if it's still there. Buy for $10 and resell on Ebay for $34ish = awesome

LOL, people on Ebay or so dumb but yet have so much $! I hope you get $40 tops and clean out somebody's wallet. Does anyone ever get the feeling that people on Ebay are bidding on Wii Sports just b/c they can? They probably already have a copy that works fine, but there just bidding maybe they want a 2nd copy?

Sometimes people buy used Wiis at Gamestop or off of someone and Wii Sports isn't included. The game itself is okay but definitely not worth $30

Wii Sports is NEVER included (or at least it's not supposed to be). It's treated as completely separate as it's not something you need to operate the system like the controller or power cord are.

Guys, why are you complaining? The reason Wii Sports goes for so much on eBay is because some people are so impatient to get a Wii, they were willing to pay the wazoo for a used Wii that didn't come with Wii Sports. If they're willing to pay so much for a copy, that's THEIR problem as THEY are the ones who hike the prices up.

GameStop sells them for $10 used. I've sold three used copies on eBay and have made around $30 each for them. I normally start them off for a DOLLAR. All it means is more money in my pocket for people who don't have the patience to look around for a cheap copy and are willing to thro money at me without me having to name anything over a buck.

If you can't find Wii Sports, look around. You'll find a few copies. If you already have it, nothing wrong with making money off of what's basically a demo CD that people are willing to throw down money for.

I love that it sells for so much. Got rid of that game quick and got something much better when I bought my Wii.

I sold my copy a few months ago and just called Nintendo and payed for a replacement disc. A free $20 is always nice.

Best thing ever? Bought a 2nd Wii for the family for Xmas (my girlfriend's GameStop randomly had two left at like 11 AM on Black Friday) for retail, and flipped the sealed Wii Sports for a $100 rebate. We don't need two copies of it in the house, especially with my substantial library at everyone's disposal.
