Alright, so something is up with my Yoshi's Story. I played the very first level, got all the fruit, and then... it turned the page! Same thing happen with the first level of page two- I beat level 1, and it turned the page!

What is going on here? I remember the game as having four levels to each page. But every time I complete the first level of a page, the page turns. Am I remembering wrong? This just seems off.

You're insane.

Actually, I don't remember. Just play your old copy instead ;)

I only played it once on rental years ago as it was so easy to beat....but I seem to recall that you had to beat it then go back to play all the stages. So maybe you just get one stage per page and have to replay to get the other stages?

I could be totally off though since it's been so long since I played it.

Dammit. If my N64's reset button wasn't mashed into the system, I'd check for you since I have the N64 cart handy.

After checking GameFAQs, though, it's as dmaul1114 said. You have to beat the level, go on to the next page until game is beaten. Then resume on to next level and so forth. To quote the FAQs guide...

Story Mode is what you would call the 1 player part, well actually everything is 1 player but that's beside the point. Each world is represented by a page in a six page book, the book being the game of course. Each page has 4 levels, regular 2D, side-scrolling fun. You can only play 1 level per page in one game. So an entire game is six levels, pretty short you must admit.

I think you played 6 pages to complete the game but you could play different stages in each world each time making the game different... or something... that game sucked and was the first game I ever traded in for store credit at EB (along with Mischief Makers).

Huh. That's strange. I definitely don't remember it being that way, but I haven't played the game for at least 5 or 6 years.

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering what the hell was going on. That's hilarious.

Finally, a game I might be able to "finish".

This is how it is supposed to work. You only get to play ONE world on each page before the page turns (each time you play through the game)... how you do on each page will determine how many worlds you can choose on the NEXT page... sort of like Star Fox 64.

If I remember correctly, only one of the four worlds on each page will have a head boss to fight...?

That's all we needed.

OP you are insane for a few reasons, you didn't know the game was easier than dirt, and you bought the game.

It is easily one of the worst Nintendo games ever made. You can easily "beat" the game in an hour.

Well thanks for adding absolutely nothing.

I obviously have already played the game. I own it on the N64, and remember how easy it was. But I definitely enjoyed it.

Go play in traffic, please.

AGREES! I just downloaded it tonight..and I do NOT remember it being like this at all! I got 2 questions:
How/When can you save...?
Do the different color yoshis have anything special about them..?

It's just one of those games that the media hates, so everybody hates it, even if they haven't played it.
The only problem is that it's short & easy, but who gives a shit; so is the girl that lives down the street, and nobody has a bad time with her.

At least not until the results from the free clinic come back ;)

The game is easy, but fairly enjoyable IMO. I got a cart for less than the VC price, so that may skew my viewpoint.

Hmm. I don't know, sir.
Does anyone know the answers of this man's 2 questions?

It saves automatically after you beat a level. I'm not sure what the difference is in the different colored Yoshis, maybe they like different fruit?

thank you! I only played the first level and shut it off. I'll see the next time I load it up.

Different colored Yoshis have different Favorite Fruit (not to be confused with the Lucky Fruit chosen via roulete when you boot the game up). Black and White Yoshis' have all fruits as their favorite.

I still can't believe that's how the game progresses. Seems so strange.

I actually like this game. It's not the greatest game ever by any means, but it sure doesn't deserve all the 6.0s I saw it getting. Sometimes I like to kick back and play an easy, simple game, which is the same reason I like the Katamari games.

This game isn't for everyone. It's not an ambitious title, but it succeeds at everything it sets out to do. A lot of people just don't LIKE what it set out to do, thus the "crap" label. It's well-designed.

I recall going back and trying to collect 100%-chains of melons in as many levels as possible. It really does add to the replay value if you find that sort of thing enjoyable.

Yoshi's Story is a casual game. Nintendo is as guilty as anyone of trying to pawn it off as a game on the level of Yoshi's Island (a title with which it has nothing in common).

It failed at that terribly.

Rocko, I'm glad you got the problem figured out though. Reading your description I was thinking, "Wow, how'd THAT get by QC?!" ;)
