I love Zookeeper for the DS. Its one of those 'pop in and play for 15 minutes' games that I find myself always going back to.

Last night I popped it in and was playing to kill time during a particularly brutal Monday Night RAW (Trump = go away heat) and I actually beat the game and got an ending.

If you beat level 20, you get one of the most bizzare endings in videogame history.

The boss guy goes into this story about how he built the zoo and then his wife died and he wants to die, and he blames it all on the animals and he hates animals....yadda yadda yadda.

Just a really bizzare ending for simple fun little puzzle game.

Im not hatin, I love the damn game. I guess the ending does kinda fit in with the whole WTF feel of this game. I love the engrish insults the boss gives you when you lose.

Yes, it's awesome!

Pointing at you as he says, "For lunch today you will have pickled radish!"

WTF???

Zoo Keeper is the best $10.00 I ever spent on a CAG trade. :D

My girlfriend and I play the multiplayer against each other for hours on end.

Now it goes to level 25 on hard correct? I remember once its beat on normal and you kick it up t "hard" its another 5 levels... So if you havent done so do that...

The ending is the same though.

Theres also an expert difficulty mode that unlocks if you get the high score on every mode. Im working on that right now.

And theres another trick that I never knew of. Ya know those flashing blocks that take out all of whatever animal they stop on when you touch it? Well if you can manage to get three of those on the screen and line them up, you get 150,000 points and clear the entire screen. Ive never even managed to get three of those blocks on the screen at once, let alone line them up.

Yeah expert might have been what I was talking about... now that 3 blocks thing is interesting indeed. Too bad i sold my copy already.

The quest mode was insane though. We never did get through that.

Quest mode was pretty much 100% luck. A lot of the 'missions' depended on speed which depended entirely on what random pieces the game sent you. I sat down for an afternoon and just got lucky and beat it. It's worth it for expert mode though if you like to check your score.

I havent beaten quest mode yet. Theres a couple of things in there that just never work out for me and I lose half my points cos I tool so long to do them.

Is there an proper end to the 'Collect 100 tokotons' mode or whatever its called? I can play that one for what seems like forever.

I have heard this same thing. I've managed to get four on the screen at once, but I'm unable to line them up before the thing says I'm out of moves (which is bull crap, since you could always hit a flashing block for another move, but it doesn't count those) or before I get 100 captures...

So I finally e-mailed two individuals who were involved with the American release of the game...

Hello Paul and Ken!

I purchased your game Zoo Keeper some time ago. According to something I
read on the internet, a player can get a large bonus for lining up three
rotating special blocks during gameplay. I've tried and tried and tried to
do this, yet find myself failing time and time again.

So, before I put too much more effort into trying to do this, I figured I'd
write and ask if this really happens. I mean, I'd be upset to the point of
smashing my DS into my skull if I spent too much more time on this only to
find out that nothing happens. That would be bad, mostly because I really
like my DS and my wife won't let me buy a DS Lite as it is, I could just see me trying to talk her into letting me get one knowing that I destroyed my
last DS by repeatly banging it against my head. Plus, I have to say that
I'm not too fond of hitting my own head.

Anywhoo, any help with this would be appericated. Thanks.

Hi Uncle Bob,
In all the time I spent working in the title and testing it I have not had
the opportunity to do witness this, but I'm sure the odds are as good as
getting a royal flush in video poker, or winning the lottery. It would take
some patience, and all cards would have to fall in place as I assume you
would have to play the Tokoton mode and hope that No More Move doesn't come up all while controlling your captured animals without going over the quota.
The most special blocks I ever got on screen was two, and incidentally it
happened this morning. Good luck!
Ken

So... Who knows?

Hahaha, even the guys who localized the game have no idea! lol

Last night I had 3 on the screen at once, and I could have lined them up if it wasnt for the damn 'No more Moves' reset. Which like you said, is BS cos you can always touch the flashing block as a move.

It sucks cos when going for high scores, you LOSE points by leaving flashing blocks on the screen when you get a reset. So your penalized for trying to do the line up 3 trick, so its really not worth it other than to say you did it.

I also dont think I'll ever unlock extreme difficulty, cos I will NEVER beat the high score of Quest mode. The one I hate the most is capture each animal group once with no repeats or it resets! ARRGH! All I ever get from the Boss is "YOU SUCK! LOSE 70%!" and he jacks all my damn points! >(
i've stayed away from this game for a while not interested, but since this thread and all the WTF stuff in it, I may pick it up.
It's honestly just Bejeweled with animals, but the losing/winning screens are indeed pretty "WTF?" hilarious.

Since you can find it usually for $5-10, it's a pretty worthwhile DS game. I'm surprised that not many people have it. Bejeweled is like crack for a lot of people.

True, its like Bejeweled on steroids. Quest mode mixes it up a bit tho, with specific goals. But if you dont like Bejeweled, you wont like this.

Wow, didn't have any idea it could be "beaten". I just thought it got harder and harder until you gave up. Maybe I'll try to play it again. It would be nice to check off another game and add it to my CAG completed games list ;).

Woo-Hoo! Finally a game in which I've done more/better than other CAGers. It is indeed possible to get the three flashing tiles together - a revolution. I've now done it three times and funnily enough they have all occurred on the Time Attack mode.

They certainly help to boost your score - my best on the Time Attack is 5,416,680.

Love this game - my wife and I play it all the time, trying to beat each others best scores. I'm trying to convince her that we need another DS so we can play head to head.

Congrats! Just the other day I was playing and four of those flashing tiles came onto my screen at once. And I could easily have lined 3 of them up, but I was in the middle of quest mode, and doing so would have killed my quest score so I didnt go for it.

So I have the high score in every mode but quest. Im trying to unlock the super hard dificulty, but quest mode is kicking my ass. It really it 90% luck.

And that is one kickass time attack score you got there!

Question: When you line up the 3 flashing squares, does the screen reset? What does it do besides the point boost?

Head-to-head is the best part of Zookeeper. If they ever released a version with wifi support, I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat.

When you line up all three the screen flashes and the word REVOLUTION comes up on the screen - it also makes a pretty funky noise. I'm not 100% certain if the screen resets but I'm assuming it does.

The quest mode is rubbish but you need that to get the Super-Hard mode and thus, the higher scores. I've never come close to getting the top score in that mode but thankfully my wife did. It's total luck.
