Where can I sell my Magic the Gathering cards?

What do you have against Ebay? It's the best place to get fair market value for your cards. I sold off my collection (actually just the cards that were worth paying the insertion fee) and raked in over $3000. I still have boxes of cards that aren't worth the cost of shipping, otherwise I would probably just give them away.

That's quite a bit, what exactly did you sell off?

I had absolutely zero of the power 9. So no Moxen or Time Walk here. I just had 4x of many valuable and extremely desirable cards (Mana Drain, each dual land, Sinkhole, Jester's Cap, Cursed Scroll, Birds of Paradise, etc). The complete set of 4x Revised dual lands scored around $1000 alone.

Hmm, Find-ccg used to have a real time list of what diff online retailers were paying for cards, i cant seem to find it...

im shocked paper magic is still arouind. i would of thought that most people went to MAGIC ONLINE. i can understand older cards but im shocked people still buy new sets
hmmmm... I have boxes and boxes of magic cards... maybe I should sell them.
Same here... not quite sure where to sell them though since I don't remember what's rare and what's not, and most of my cards are from some of the really really old sets.

It's harder to sell older cards since most players prefer Type 2 or limited formats. You just have to wait for a Pro Tour that uses older cards and sell them then. Go to sideboard.com find out when the next PTQ is around your area and sell it to the vendors that set up shop there. I sold off all my magic cards this way got about 3k about two years ago. You think videogames will eat your wallet MTG used to take up all of my time. But I can still say i have a 1950 rating so i'm happy with that :)

Try Anycraze.com, they don't offer too much for rares, but some they do. If anyone else has a better place to sell other than ebay please tell, I too have some cards to get rid of.

Ya mean you have all the rares mixed in with the uncommons? Yikes! I actually have my rares in binders, and my uncommons and commons in seperate boxes.

I got into MTG heavily around the tail end of 4th ed, 5th ed just had come out, and everyone was playing the Tempest cycle cards. I have at least 4x of every rare from those sets. I remember going to Neutral Ground in NYC for tourny's and quick pick up games... lol

I have over 900 magic cards I think (I weighed them, and did some quick math on a pice of paper which I lost), with a bunch of good ones like Crush or Wurm and some magic that uses one of each mana, a sea monster that needs 11 mana, and a ton of special land cards.

Is there any place I could take these cards to sell them without having to dig through them and list them on ebay?

I want to turn those cards into games as quickly and easily as possible. I would even consider a trade here at this site. I could take some pictures of the rares and stuff, maybe get a general idea of the value.

Crush of Worms is what vendors like to call junk rares they usually buy them in bulk from people i beileve .10-.25 cents a card.

You can check out some local comic stores. Prices you'd get there would vary A LOT though. I tried to sell mine there, but I ended up only selling a small chunk of rares for about 40 bucks.

And Ebay is so flooded, you won't get crap for them there. It's sad, but true. The market appears to be sort of flooded at the moment.

i sold the 530 or so i had for $44. I wasnt horribly happy to, but i wanted to clear the space.

I've got a bunch of cards that I've been meaning to sell for a long time, too. My older sets have the rares mixed in with all the rest, but after a while I got smarter about keeping them separate.
So do you think I would have any chance getting enough to buy Rez, Ico, and Shadow of the Collossus?
If you bought them all in packs originally, 900 cards would equal about 56 rares, (16 cards per pack, 1 rare per pack, iirc) And considering that most rares are worth less than a dollar, I would say your not gonna even be close.

How long ago was this? The dual lands seem to be worth about $20 a piece now.

Wow yeah i got into it heavy when 4th edition was new.. So I have an almost complete untouched 4th edition set as well as many duplicates... I need to get a list and see what I am missing from my fourth edition set...

Does anybody remember the Magic books where you could mail away and get a rare card.. Arena and I forget the other 3 cards...

Anyway maybe i will pick some of these cards up from you guys. Is there an online list of the 4th edition... I could print that and cross check it so that I could complete my 4th edition set..

If anyone has any *FOIL* Thorn Elemental's from the set Urza's Destiny I'll buy em pm me if you got em. I'll also buy ANY Foild Basic Lands for $2 a piece again pm me if you have we can work out a deal. Any other people with newer cards, ill buy em in bulk lemme know and ill see what I want from them.

I am looking to sell my collection as well. I have a huge amount of cards. I started around Nemesis. I got some nice cards from before but nothing uber-rare. I stopped around after the Japanese themed set.

I have cards from all sets. If you got a list of cards that you need lying around then just PM it to me and I will cross check it with my collection and if I got something we will work something out.

The reason I do not want to use eBay is for two reasons. 1. Flooded market. 2. The hassle of listing every damn card.

We need a MTG trading thread around here as it seems that a quite fair number of CAGs play.

I used to be really into Magic but quit about 2 years ago. If you want to sell, you should try finding sale forums like the one at MOTL- Magic Online Trading League. http://forums.magictraders.com/Ultimate.cgi You'll have to start from the beginning with refs, but they have a ref system like the one here. I sold/bought/traded a lot on that site before I quit Magic.

the only card from the old books worth mentioning is Mana Crypt (that one sells for at least 40 + on its own)

I have switched from playing paper magic over to Magic Online.. a draft or a sealed tournament any time of day with multiplayer games whenever i want. i love it. but paper magic is fun too.. just not to play in tournaments average 8 round tournament on magic online takes a lot less then one in paper world.

if you don't have chase rares they aren't worth selling individually.. you might luck into a few more dollars if you say "i don't know anything about these cards" and list them as a lot on ebay.. some dummy might get them from you..

i usually say fuck star city games.. Mtgsalvation.com is a better site.. i like to see the average price at cardshark.com

you can find lists of all the sets at www.magicthegathering.com and find the "product" page

Like Nervraij said, magictraders.com takes card sales from eBay and gives a rundown of statistics on card prices. You can input card names, for foil or non-foil versions, and get a bunch of results.

With the exception of Underground Seas, which tend to go closer to forty, and Taigas, which tend to go closer to 30.

I'm too cheap to play online. I'd rather just buy a box for 73 and just draft with friends every so often.

where do you get in print boxes for 73?.. the best i can find online is 74 but then there is usually a 12 dollar shipping charge.. most of the shops around my area sell them at 79 at the cheapest and thats an hours drive?..

and yes.. it is kinda expensive to play on MTGO, but i see the advantage as I don't have to keep track of a million cards (which i have 4x every set from revised through Apoc) and its much easier to just set up and play. I also like the fact they are bringing out the older sets on there and its kinda fun to play with those cards again..

you can build a fairly cheap deck for MTGO if you go to http://www.cardshark.com/default.asp?referral=urzishra14&source=link (its in a referral link just in case anyone signs up i get some points but its no big deal if i don't) but yeah the prices on there are pretty good. but of course the chase cards will always be high.. and IPA cards are really expensive because of the low distribution.

My dual lands sold anywhere from $40~50 (plateau, scrubland) to $70~80 (underground sea, tropical island). These prices are for 4x of each. The Mana Drains (english) went for $200 for 4. I don't really remember any other values other than those.

I just checked Ebay and the prices now are almost double. Ah well, I couldn't wait forever to sell.

I see, well it's nice to know that something is worth a couple bucks. The only other things I found that seem to have much value is a set of Resets and a Moat.
damn i want that set of resets. want it in my stasis deck heh
Well a set will only cost you $50ish on ebay.

thats actually not that bad... but i don't know i want to save up for a mox for a deck and then go from there.. but i don't know.. i don't play a lot of paper magic to make it worth my while

Yeah blowing it all on video games makes a lot more sense. I wouldn't buy a Mox unless of course you plan on playing with proxies since 1 of any card really isn't that useful. Except when you've got a set of Demonic Tutors.

Local card shows. There's a bit of competition between the dealers, and since they know I buy boxes almost weekly for my friends and I to draft with, they want to keep me going to them.

well then i can see how MTGO could be a waste of time and money.. i like it for other things.. keeping track of my online collection is easier then paper.. and you can't "cheat" the system as easily (and yes you can cheat the system, but yeah)

i also used to avidly play T1 also so i have a lot of non power stuff.. the closest i get to power is 4 mana crypts (yeah i know i can only use one) so if i were to get a mox i'd probably get a black one or a red one.. as you can play pretty competively using mono black (in a very underpowered environment mind you) and mono red is pretty straight forward too.. the white one is pretty much useless unless you have the other 4 for your power decks..

Well have you picked up the cheaper Mana boosters? Dual lands, sol rings, mana flare etc.

yeah all the duals (not all the new ones yet) all the onslaught fetches.. needles, extractions, sol rings, (i wouldn't say mana flare is tourny viable, but i have them too) i like to play a battle of wits deck (for those who don't know normally a deck is 60 cards.. battle of wits says you win if you have 200 or more cards in your deck) and yeah i have cursed scrolls masticores, morphlings, hmm.. lets see.. mox diamonds, chrome moxes, all the urza's brokenness.. the wishes.. lions eye diamonds..

i'm not looking to sell.. i'll probably never sell my cards (they have a lot of sentimental value to me) besides I love to play the game.

i also have Sinkholes for suicide black.. all the power it can really benefit on (when i say power i mean the power nine.. black lotus, 5 old moxes, timetwister, time walk, ancestral) is a lotus and a mox.. so the mox would be the best bet for me and make my deck run better just by having it in there.

I remember winning a Type 1 tourney with my accelerated blue deck couple years ago. Some guy went like 3x mox dual land Juzam first turn. I go okay tap my island force spike my turn wasteland your dual tap island sol ring tap that powder keg sac it. so my 8 dollars worth of cards destroyed about 1k of cards :)

Depending on the format, Heartbeat of Spring (Mana Flare in Green) based decks are fine.

I'm slowly building stuff, but the same things that keep me at CAG keep me from going too crazy with cards... I tend to scour dollar boxes, build mostly casual decks, and then pick up maybe 1-2 copies of a really good card if it is underpriced or if I've picked up most of a playset through drafting.

It's not a terrible plan... I picked up a playset and a half of Life from the Loams for 5 dollars (less than what 1 is going for now), and a playset of Jittes for 28 (straight from the Rat's net precon, of course)

I have friends who have no problem dropping all kinds of cash when a new set comes out, or when they need new cards for thier decks, but I just can't see spending all that much on a card... the most I've spent on a single card so far is probably right around 10-15 dollars (Tolarian Academy, Underground Sea, and Taiga were all in this range.)

LOL! I love that, I love winning with a 'ghetto deck'. 'Oh my whole deck is worth less than any one card in yours? sucks to be you' =p

yeah you see i just came back from taking a year off (hated the whole "japanesse" themed idea.. ) but i had to plop down the money for Gifts, cranial extractions and needles.. nothing else in the block will have suffient staying power.. maybe the Yosei or that black dragon i forget its name.. and then the savannah lion... and eight of nine tails.. but after Mirrodin which had a lot of really cool cards in it.. (and who can forget the jitte, first cards i got on magic online, pretty much bought 4 theme decks then sold the rest of the cards in the packs for a couple tickets, ended up being about 6 tickets a jitte) and Ravnica is the best set they've printed in a long long time.. very few rares in that set are unuseable and Lightning Helix, Putrefy and watchwolf are some of the best uncommons that have seen print. 9th edition too, its much like Revised (the 10 pain lands, Hippies) most of the rares if you don't get a blue one are pretty good.

I don't know about that. I'd say that Meloku, the Clouded Mirror is likely the third best blue creature every printed (after Morphling and Psychtog.)
Keiga is a beating as well. If they manage to kill it, it often cost them thier best creature.

All this MTG talk wants me to start playing again. I still have MoDo maybe we can have a CAG guild or whatever there called online
