I'm stoked. First I sold my Mars Logs foil for $10.43 (profit, not list price), then I bought a $5 one, sold it for $10.43, then found another foil listed for $3, bought it, and sold it for $10.43.

1043 is my new lucky number. My wallet is ready now, c'mon sales.

2nd this. Any thoughts on DLC. I've been wanting to get XCOM for a while now. At $10 I can splurge a little on myself.
Here's a very detailed review I wrote of the Elite Soldier DLC. Sadly I can't speak for the Slingshot DLC, since I haven't played it.

[customspoiler=Elite Soldier DLC Review]As people have said, the description of this item is a little misleading. 1. You do not get a new recruit, you only get a new hairstyle (which is rather silly, but is a throwback to old XCOM games), and 2. You do not get new armor to research that gives you new stats.

The description really should be rewritten, since it clearly was written incorrectly. That said, I'm going to review what you ARE getting, because in spite of the description being misleading, a LOT of these user reviews are misleading as well.

Not every game has a lot of customization options. I was already impressed to an extent with XCOM because you can change your soldiers' faces, hair, race, skin, voice, etc. Basically, this pack adds a lot more customization. True, you don't get new armor types (that add stats), but you are given the option to change most if not all armor types to look differently. Of all the armor types I have so far, each has one or two different versions, which either add more bulk to the armor or change it completely. People were saying that late game armor has no customization, and that is totally incorrect. I'm using the Titan armor (a heavy late game armor) and there is a customization for it that makes it look sort of like an EOD suit. Perhaps certain other late game armors do not have customization options (Ghost and Psi armor, maybe), but all the other armors do, and ALL armors are recolorable.

Beyond changing the structure of your armor, you're given 32 colors to change your armor. All of the scathing reviews of this pack call all of the colors except for a few "badly colored Power Ranger colors" when this is totally and completely false. For reference, here is a list of the 32 colors available (I'll capitalize the neon colors):

Pale Orange (Olive accents)
Pale/Steel Blue (Khaki accents)
Normal, non-Neon Green (Other shades of green accents)
Normal, non-Neon Orange
White/Silver (Black accents)
Crimson/Deep Red
Pale Chartreuse (Not neon, despite the color)
Light Blue (Brown accents)
Dark Olive Drab (Very pale green accents)
Black (White accents)
Dark Blue (White accents)
Dark Purple
NEON Purple
NEON Pink
Black (Yellow accents)
Yellow
Dark Pale Blue
NEON Red (Yellow accents)
NEON Blue (Yellow accents)
Pale Red (Pale blue accents)
Purple/Blue (Orange accents)
Dark Teal (Dark brown accents, one of my favorites)
Pale Yellow (Khaki accents)
NEON Purple (NEON green accents)
NEON Pink (NEON turquoise accents)
NEON Orange (NEON purple accents)
Green (Brown accents)
Silver Blue
Grey/Light Khaki (White accents)
Khaki (Lighter khaki accents)
Pale Green (Lighter green accents)
Black (Grey accents)

As you can see, out of 32 colors, only 7 are "neon Power Ranger" colors, which I think is completely reasonable. The neon colors are still fun sometimes, depending on the soldier (not every solider has to be drab and boring) and the general fantasy/sci-fi feel of the game (aliens, giant laser/plasma guns, etc). There are only a few colors besides those 7 that may be a little too colorful for everyone, but in general the colors are pretty muted and clean looking. People are just sore about paying more than they wanted to when they bash the color choices.

A final thing this DLC adds are hat and helmet options. There are two berets (one with sunglasses), a baseball cap with a headset, a beanie with a headset and goggles, and nine different full face helmets, some of them very cool. A very nice addition when you want to change your soldiers up. I've seen people complain that your armor customizations are lost when your solider is injured (or dies, duh), but that is an automatic game design feature that unequips your injured soldiers so that you can use their equipment for your non-injured soldiers. It only takes a few clicks to get your customizations back once your soldiers are back in action, so that's really a pointless complaint.

In conclusion, this is a great customization pack for the game. $5 really isn't much to pay, but if the content isn't worth that to you, wait for a sale. I picked this up for about $1.50 in a Steam sale.[/customspoiler]

Having never played any games in the GTA series, but been told they are similar to Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs which I loved, would it be worth getting the full pack (3, 4, LC, VC, and SA) IF it goes 75% ($12.49) or just get 4 and Episodes of Liberty City? (75%, $7.49)

It'd be $5 for 3, Vice City, and San Andreas
The old GTA games were great when they came out... nowadays, not so much. Saints Row 2 and 3 are hilarious, solid, and funner than the old GTAs (and the new one, imo), and Sleeping Dogs is just the superior game of the genre in general.

That's not to say they're bad games, but they haven't aged all that well. I modded the hell out of Vice City to update the graphics, and while I had a little bit of fun with it, it was mostly just the music that kept me playing for a couple hours (haven't felt like touching it since). My experience with San Andreas (have it installed on my Xbox 360) was pretty lackluster too.

Some people love em, but my advice is "nah".

Any more thoughts on Endless Space? JakeNome has it for $8.50 and I'm sorely tempted, but I already spent $10.50 in real money on a single game today. (In the same genre, even.)
Buy buy buy.

I didn't know people ever actually bought the Prima guides on Steam...
Me neither. $4 for the game + guide is pretty cool though. A lot of those guides are amazingly well done (I have a physical copy of the Fallout 3 GOTY guide and that thing is awe-inspiring).

I had no idea Far Cry 3 was forced into using u-play hopefully it's not always online drm. Always read the fine print before buying is the lesson here.

P.S Nevermind seems it's not always online at least. But still beware incase anyone else misses the fine print.

Girls play games too, y'know... >:|
You're Asian. Doesn't count.

I've yet to meet a 12 year old girl that was interested in the same games as me. Wow that sounds super pedo.
I actually have. Twice (okay, one was 10, iswer i dint no).

You have to mod vice city to get the original music back if I recall - which honestly is what part of makes the game amazing.
Really? I didn't have to. Then again, I bought the game way before the whole music licensing fiasco.

Well, seems appropriate that Blood Dragon draws first blood from me on this sale.  55% isn't great but seems worth $6.75 just for the 80s nostalgia.

Also I'll join the meh side of the Sleeping Dogs debate.  The story was well done and the story missions were fun but everything else felt shallow, repetitive and just painfully dull.  I wish there were more main missions because those were still fun the rest just bored me and I quickly stopped to focus on the main story.

Ah well back to card collecting.  Speaking of, how does Endless Space compare to GalCiv or Master of Orion?

Made a profit after buying all the cards needed to make the summer badge. Then I bought all the cards again to make the Lvl 2 summer badge and still made a profit. I got some Rare Skyrim Background that sold for about $5.

So, I bought one game today. Got two badges, paid off the game, and got more money now. I have no complaints.

Well guess I'm not buying Blood Dragon after all, they just bumped the price back up to $9 and a much less interesting 40% discount.  Guess I'll be waiting for the winter sale on it now.

A little heads up/recommendation on...

Rock of Ages - $9.99 $1.99 (80% off)

Silly game where you and your opponent are set on opposite sides of a long, crazy mess of windy floating pathways, a castle on each side. Your objective is to roll your rock down all the crazy windy paths while your opponent builds a variety of obstacles (elephants, buildings, explosives, etc) to impede your progress and damage your rock. Once you make it to the other castle, you smash into the door, and depending on how much damage your rock took, you deal a certain amount of damage to the door. Once you smash through the door, you squash your opponent's leader and win.

It's total nonsense, but it's funny and actually pretty enjoyable (especially local multiplayer, though I'm sure there's online too) and best played with two controllers side by side. All of the action is done on the fly (controlling your rocks, building obstacles, etc), so it can get pretty hectic. There are also some other modes like race, skiball, etc that are fun to play around with.

tl;dr, funny game with strong Monty Python vibes. This is the cheapest it's ever been. Buy it!

looks like the cards should be back, i hadnt seen any for a few hours, shutdown games and steam and restarted them all.  Within 30min got 2 new drops

U-play doesn't do always online as far as I know, they just use it for the MP passports and U-play rewards.

Honestly, unlike others I have had no real problems with Uplay or Origin and I tend to buy games on whichever platform its cheapest. All my Assassin's Creed games are on UPlay, and I have FC3 and FC: BD on there, and have not had any problems (other than their service being hacked... but that can happen anywhere)

Fully agree with you on that. I've got my EA games on Origin and my Ubi games on Uplay. Uplay has AWESOME download speeds too, plus the system where you can play games, get points, and buy extra DLC type stuff with those points. I love Uplay.

Ladies love it when your package has been cut more excessively than the tape on that box carrying the Fleshlight you bought on eBay a month ago that just now showed up (you won't be able to enjoy it anyway so calm the fcuk down).

But I don't.

You ever have someone slash your rod with a jagged bottle of Hennessy and then take money from your moms? This is the end result: You can barely feel anything -- it's like you're wearing a Trojan Enz 24/7. I don't remember what happened to my mom... damn I was supposed to attend a funeral today. Whose?

I'm the same way. Show me the savings. All things being equal (price) I will usually choose Steam, DRM-Free on Amazon, DRM-Free on Gamersgate, and then whatever. Of course anything I am backlogging I will just wait until it hits my price at my preferred service, but play now stuff I am flexible. Grabbed a dirt cheap Blood Dragon on UPlay because nobody wanted it. It still hasn't hit that price on Steam.

I was about to buy GTA4 until I saw that it has 3 layers of DRM not including Steam. Stack that nonsense on a buggy port and I think I'll pass.

This is the only reason I've avoided a lot of Rockstar stuff on PC. I don't mind any one particular DRM or service, but when I have to log in to accounts within accounts within games, I have very little patience for that. Like if I already logged into Steam or Origin or Uplay, why make me sign in to GFWL or Rockstar Social Club or whatever? That's the only annoyance, mostly because I hate remembering new passwords. I already have a million accounts online, don't need anymore for particular games. (Stellar Impact I am looking at you).

Does anyone know why it takes so long to uninstall games on steam?  I have 5 windows up on my desktop uninstalling games and demos I don't play.

Is there a faster way to uninstall games?  Can I just delete the files in my steam directory or will that mess something up?

I just right click the game in my Library and hit "Delete Local Content"... it usually takes 15 seconds or so per game. You could just delete the folders I would guess, steam would just notice the files missing and re-download them probably.
