My roommate just switched the internet service to Comcast and he put in their modem. I just went from being able to stream Pandora, have Netflix, download steam games and whatever they do on their computers to now 700ms+ ping and I can't even load a 720p youtube video. I'm updating flash 'cause it said to and it's taking forever.

No bueno... this is gonna kill my Steam sale fun... or any of net services...
How many digital boxes are in the home?
Are you using cable splitters?
And do you have an excessive amount of curled cable?

It might be as simple as having comcast increase your signal.

What's the difference between a foil card and a regular one, anyway? I just pulled a Foil "Shield Element" for Magicka, but my other Magicka cards are commons.

Also, Gaben disagrees

steam45.jpg

That's a Logitech F710, featured in other Steam Big Picture images as well.
Valve too selfish to pay for rights to use 360 controller image commercially :)

Random non-sale related question.  While I pursue the task of methodically taking all of the BL2 characters into UVHM and to the level cap, my indecisiveness has me struggling as to who to play next.  In order, I've taken my Siren, Mechromancer and Psycho into TVHM and am trying to decide who next to roll in normal; the Commando or the Gunzerker.  Opinions?

Oh, and I guess to keep somewhat to topic, Stellar Impact took FOREVER to drop its cardz.

^_^ I'm not disagreeing... honestly I feel the only right answer is all of it.. it's not like it's not cheap enough.
I'll toss it all in with my next purchase. Thanks!

I don't hugely care, but the increases on the friends list cap might be useful someday. and crafting the badges gives me other things I can sell, too.
I didn't even know that there was a friends list cap...

I enjoyed the commando and I liked his turret. The gunzerker seemed meh to me and if your playing solo having the turret can be really helpful.

The Tomb Raider Tomb DLC is very short and easier than the other tombs in the game (which is saying something). It has a bit of salvage, XP and ammo on it, so if you're starting the game now it can help you a bit, but for myself, which had already beaten the game, it's useless. If you are a completist, go ahead since it's cheap enough.

Also: Bit Trip Runner 2 is a lot of fun. Gameplay-wise It's pretty much the same as the first one but it looks better, is goofier (it has a weird announcer of sorts), and it has checkpoints (which removes a lot of the annoyance of the original).

250 people is the current limit, and I personally can't imagine anybody reaching that. I know TotalBiscuit has a long time ago, but unless you regularly play multiplayer games and have different friends for each game it seems high, to me at least.

Could someone buy Tomb Raider: Anniversary for me, for whatever reason it is not available on the Australian Steam Store.

I will paypal you the funds.

Thanks kindly.

Out of curiosity, how many people are actively trading cards and crafting badges? If anyone's interested, I could make a thread just for trading cards between CAGs. But not really sure how many are doing it.

Wasn't some of the big picture art a closeup of the 360 controller's A-B-X-Y buttons? Regardless, MS isn't going to allow their accessories in promo literature for Steambox.

Honestly not an issue for me. I don't like to stare at a name on my friend list and think "who the fuck are you?"

It was an F710, it's always been an F710.. the ABXY buttons look the same. The F710 is the only controller that makes sense to promote for Big Picture since it's the only wireless native-360 controller that runs without issues.

I had 97 cents lying around and no real desire to add a credit card just to add two cents to buy a game, so yeah. I've been card grinding on the games I have that have trading cards and buying/selling using that 97 cents. I still have 19 cents left and doing that has completed 4 or 5 badges for me and gotten me 70% of the way to the summer badge.

Yeah, I've gone through the tutorial missions and Southern Shelf side stuff with all my characters and wasn't quite feeling the zerker early on. I'm just kinda biased against the Commando since I found Roland the most boring of the bunch in BL1, though Axton's turret seems greatly improved. Eventually I'll probably just make my Gunzerker a farming aid for my other characters.

To add to my Tomb Raider question, are the special abilities/weapon upgrades worth it?
Those are actually early unlocks (some might call them officially sanctioned cheats) for things you can get in the game anyway.

In order, I've taken my Siren, Mechromancer and Psycho into TVHM and am trying to decide who next to roll in normal; the Commando or the Gunzerker. Opinions?
Gunzerker... ALL. THE. WAY.

When you get to the point where you can unleash dual wielded (insert killer weapon here) and refill the ammo and health almost on a whim, Salvador is a joy to play. I imagine he'd be great for UVHM too since he can dual wield any two guns and one of those could be Slag.

Axton is cool and all, but his turret isn't as awesome as Roland's and it was a bit of a letdown for me.

I already own a that motorola modem and a nice router from Linksys. I offered to swap because yea, it's garbage. Straight hot filthy garbage.
once again comcast has been lying to me all along. I KNEW you had to be able to use your own router, complete stupidity to believe them on my part :dunce:

Comcasts data cap's 250gb where I live comcasts the only option no fios at all. Besides my gf has fios and its garbage internet speed crawls and the tv randomly loses sound and picture gets distorted more than comcast ever has
ditto, it's awful but there isn't ANY other option where I am :(

You think Comcasts is bad... trying living in New Zealand and using the internet here...

Yeah, router and modem can both be your own instead of renting. That's what I did

As far as Comcast is concerned I must be the only one with good experiences. I mean, I hate that I get shafted with the prices for not being a new customer, but compared to Time Warner Cable where I had at least an outage a week, or AT&T where I was paying the same price for 5Mbps that I am paying now for 50Mbps, Comcast is amazing. Outages have been rare, and I've gotten statement credits without asking everytime there was an outage.

Now, if I could just get a better deal I'd be happy, just got off my 12 month promotional price and it jumped about $30 a month.

To the best of my knowledge, Comcast has temporally suspended the data cap while they "review" the procedure.

I'm also reasonably happy with Comcast internet. As for your bill, tell them that you were thinking about switching to Verizon or some other service. They'll hook you up with the promo deal just to keep you on.

I'm going to definitely look into getting a standalone router. Knocking $7 off the $65 or so a month would definitely help. Completely with you on the price thing, it went up without us even getting notified

for the price of the f710 i think you are much, much  better off with a wireless 360 controller

they pop up in amazon sales from time to time for $30 and feel much more sturdy imo

but the d pad pretty much blows on both

Out of curiosity, how far in level-wise did it take for your Gunzerker to feel "powerful". I'm used to scoping, so initially the dual wield thing felt awkward for me, coupled with sub-par starting gear made for a less than enthusiastic start. I'll probably love him through T/UVHM, but these normal playthroughs are becoming a slog. Fun, but a slog nonetheless.

It's not that bad. At least we have bigger caps than some US/CA ISPs.
You're in NZ? Awesome lol.

Yeah I guess so. But the problem is that I lived and worked in Japan for 3 years. Fibre + unlimited internet for under $90 with an IP phone. It feels like a crawl coming back here lol (though I've almost gotten a little bit used to it again... almost...)

I usually do when I get dupes. Seems like that's all ive been getting lately. Anyone looking to trade feel free to add me.

I set the AC in the house to 73F and told my wife "That's why we have jobs"

But I bought an emoticon for 6¢ (the summer getaway smiley, wanted a decent damn normal smiley), saw it a minute later for 5¢ and got momentarily annoyed.

Yeah, but Japan's internet is a magnitude or two above that of much of the US, so the step from Japan to NZ is going to be extremely obvious. Especially so if you were in an area with 200Mb/s+ and are now somewhere with 10Mbit DSL - if you're in an area where you can get UFB (100Mb/s) it's not quite as bad with ISPs like Snap.

I tried to call tonight but customer retention or "loyalty department" as they call it is already closed. I'll try again on Monday.

We were paying 80 a month for digital cable and 50Mbps internet with free HBO, then it jumped to 100 a month plus 15 for HBO. I'd be happy getting anything that brings the bill back down south of $100. I have no problem threatening to switch, but I don't want to actually switch. I don't trust satellite and Comcast is the only digital cable provider. Verizon isn't around here yet and AT&T is DSL which there is no way in hell I am going back to.

Why can't I be rich and just get a dedicated fiber line?

The early unlocks for Tomb Raider are for people who don't want to play the game, those are skills that you level up by playing.

I almost bought that single player map but apparently it's not worth even 74 cents.

Universe Sandbox? Really? The oldest game on Steam between the three wins?

Oh come on!  I wanted Incredipede to win the Community Vote!  :bomb:  Are people blindly clicking just so they can be one vote closer to another SS Card?!

Antichamber was 2nd with 32% of the vote? What? It had just been on sale at that price for 48-hours prior. /sigh
