 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

If we're adding Upgrade and Save to the discussion, you can do an Express Lane purchase (just tell them that there's an option for Override -> Upgrade) to pick up Casshern Sins complete series blu for $10.99 after U&S.
Wait what? You can upgrade to the complete series of casshern sins? How as I'd like to do that and I gotta say that I have the part 1 and part 2 on blu ray so can I still get the complete series?

Basically you would need them to order it in store for you, and here is the link,

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Casshern%3A+Complete+Series+-+S.A.V.E.+%284+Disc%29+-+Blu-ray+Disc/20856781.p?id=2634411&skuId=20856781&st=704400079979&lp=1&cp=1

It's the SAVE edition, but if you don't mind that it's a great deal.

You will need to bring in a DVD of course though to get the $5 off coupon for U&S.

Word of caution though that not all items online will be available for ExpressLane because some items do not have a usable sku for in-store, so you may or may not run into a problem with them trying to ExpressLane the item.  Usually only items with 7 digit skus are in-store skus, but Casshern looks like it's an online sku, so may not be as easy to get it working.

Thanks, Squarehard, for the explanation.

Express Lane + Upgrade and Save is pretty YMMV just on the basis of Best Buy employees not knowing how to do it or not knowing if they're allowed to do it or not knowing what it is.

A little late to post this, but deepdiscount is running a sale of an extra 15% off at checkout when you use the code SPECIAL15

It brings some of the section23 stuff down to some decent prices compared to elsewhere.

Ends tonight @11.59 CST

And I'll be wiki'ing the main post once it back so anybody will be able to edit!

Both parts of Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar are $29.49 at Amazon. Doesn't include the Limited Edition.

Also, the Anime Classics version of OAV3 is $10.49

Question for those that know:

Are there whole seasons of Sailor Moon or a complete series dvd/bluray release? Im in need of a new anime and wouldn't mind reliving a classic.

Because Toei yanked the license years and years ago.

Classic and R had 2 releases, the edited dub in singles and the Japanese version in 2 boxsets. S and Super S were released in hybrid singles and thinpak box sets, but the dub audio is the same as the broadcast dub (which means it uses the dub names and has Uranus/Neptune as cousins). Stars was never released.

Toei has been shopping the series around again, but requires (depending on who you talk to) either a TV deal or to pick up Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon as well.

They've been this price for a little while now, but I wanted to mention a few things that dropped on Amazon:

LE of Haganai has dropped to $37 http://www.amazon.com/Haganai-Friends-Tomodachi-Sukunai-Limited/dp/B00CU6WBGI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374696840&sr=8-1&keywords=haganai

Fairy Tail pt 5 has dropped to $30 http://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Tail-Part-Blu-ray-Combo/dp/B00CDV4OR4/ref=pd_cp_mov_0

And Amazon keeps telling me that the LE of Is This a Zombie Season 2 is $29 http://www.amazon.com/Is-This-Zombie-Limited-Edition/dp/B00CDV4LYU/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1374696840&sr=8-13&keywords=haganai

Looks like Amazon finally dropped the price on the Case Closed S.A.V.E. sets They were $24.99 when they were released yesterday, but are now $18.93.

I have no clue as to why it's $10 cheaper than the standard version. Maybe there's fewer pre-orders for it?

I pre-ordered Haganai. Odd that the LE is slightly cheaper. I'm watching the second season now, and I find that show hilarious.

second season was definitely much better and way more hilarious but i liked the first season. I preordered through rightstuf with my gotanime discount and it come out to be less because i dont have to pay tax. Amazon also has the tendency to ship things in bubble mailers and ruin my art boxes, while rightstuf packaging is near perfection. Thats saying a lot too since I have prime.

I have never had an Amazon order in a bubble mailer. Usually it's shrinkwrapped to cardboard an put in a box.
I used to get that but recently they have been shipping my things in either a bubble mailer or just a box with no protection. I got my hellsing ultimate art box a few months ago from the funimation sale and it was in a box with no padding and the art box was just rattling around. My last couple anime blu rays were in a bubble mailer. They also shipped the latest volume of attack on titan manga in a bubble mailer.

I also usually get them shrink wrapped around a cardboard backing and then inside a box.  They come pretty good.

My last order of around 5 items was loose inside a box with air bags. That actually came good as well.  I don't remember the last bubble mailer I got from Amazon.

Future Diary Part 1 LE is $30.96.

Ordered Zombie Season 2. Was not a big fan of Season 1, but...it's hard to say no to artboxes.

Certain Magical Index Part 1, Tenchi Muyo Movie Collection, and Fractale are between $30-$32 right now.

I seriously want to get a bunch of the ~$30 DVD sets but I'm too afraid that Funi will release blu-rays after they get the license. Don't really want to double dip

Pull the trigger! DO IT! DO IT!

At worst you will just sell the DVD releases of them if they did come out later since those LE sets tend to hold value pretty well.  "LE"!

Probably going to pick up the Ouran High School host club Blu-Ray soon.

Does anybody have any opinions on Baka and Test and/or Shakugan No Shana? Thinking of picking them up as well.

Does anyone know if RightStuf has any plans to release Utena on Blu-Ray?

Im still waiting for the right price to buy the remastered dvd's but after hearing it getting a Blu-Ray release in japan id rather wait for that to drop.

I don't think RightStuf has released any Blu-rays for any of their series.

Considering that they don't do dubs anymore, Blus probably are too expensive.

Ouran is funny as hell. Despite owning Baka for a few months I have yet to watch it. Shana is a good series, but you have to be into romance to get the full effect of the series. Opinions also greatly differ on which season is the best.

get them both. baka and test is the funniest anime out there along with daily lives of high school boys.

Baka and Test is pretty funny and Shana is ok I guess. I liked Shana more years back than I do now though.

Ouran: absolutely must get

Baka and Test: must get both seasons if you're a fan of romantic comedy

Shakugan no Shana: at least get S1, the rest goes downhill but still alright. S2 is ok romance. OVA has some comedy as well as some good back story of Shana. S3 seemed forced and I had a hard time understanding many of the characters' motives.

Best Buy is doing a July Black Friday deal. Anime is going to be 20%-40% off. Seems to be only Funimation titles.

edit: seems like Best Buy messed up the link.

It's okay, you're not missing anything.  They basically tried to copy the Amazon Funi sale, but the sale prices are all awful, so yeah.  Wasn't even worth noting when I saw it a week back or so since it was bad.

There might be one or two things that might be a decent deal in combination with the U&S, but only a couple of things that are YMMV since some of them are online only skus for the products, so it may or may not work properly when combined with the coupon.

Looks like Amazon has dropped the price of the Spice & Wolf Complete Series DVD/BR combo a bit further before the sale ends. It was hovering around $30, but it is now $27.99.

Yeah, I know it was mentioned in an interview on ANNcast about it. Basically said that it is still too expensive right now for Rightstuf to release blu-rays. Mostly mentioned the equipment they would have to buy and cost to produce blu-rays is still too high.

Sentai announced their November releases:

Hiiro No Kakera Season 2 DVD/Bluray
Patlabor TV Collection 3 DVD/Bluray
Nakaimo Complete DVD/Bluray
Yumeria Complete DVD
Divergence EVE DVD
Hellhole: Inmate 611 DVD
Little Busters! DVD/Bluray
High School of the Dead OVA DVD/Bluray
La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia Complete DVD/Bluray

I'm probably only going to get the OVA for High School of the Dead.

I've been staring at Sekirei for the past few weeks, willing it to go below $30, but with the sale coming to a close, it might never be this low again, or at least not anytime soon. :whistle2:k

Whoa the Casshern Sins bluray at Best Buy went back up to $25 mid-week.

The previous price is looking more like a pricing error. It was ridiculous at $11 post U&S.

I pre-ordered Future Diary LE part 1. Is this show worth picking up? Would like to see what other CAGs think about it to decide whether or not to keep the pre-order.
