When I got The Pixeljam Octology back in July, they gave out Desura keys for Potatoman & Dino Run SE. As The End says, Dino Run has been greenlit and Potatoman is on Greenlight.

Potatoman is about 30 min long at the most or so beat it a while back...was ok. Also played Arvoesine and beat it. Very nice and decent challenge without being too long and controlled like a charm can't wait to play the other game from that IGS day.

I always liked IGS's site a lot more than Gala's, just seems cleaner and more professional. Also I already have a dozen games on my IGS account so why not I suppose

completely agree the layout and ascetic is way better than gala, it's just hard for me not to see the similarities, though I suppose at this point there is very little separating any of the bundle sites besides which games are available at what price.

Not to say competition isn't good, but sometimes I wonder what these sites expect when they start selling games.  If they are not bringing anything necessarily new or fresh to the table then there's little incentive to shop there other than if they manage the lowest price first or at the right time.

IGS has always done a really good job of highlighting interesting, undiscovered games with their pay-what-you-want rotation.

As long as they keep that, it doesn't hurt to have the store option (for the games that got away).  They seem discerning enough with their selection, so it's still a great way to find the great indies.  Personally, Sky Nations (https://indiegamestand.com/store/314/sky-nations/) seems tempting.

Buying from IGS is a good option.  Most of the games are DRM-free and they'll get you a key if it gets Greenlit.

I agree that IGS tends to highlight new/unique games that haven't been covered (despite our chagrin they might not be on Steam).  Whereas Gala just sells the same ol' bottom of the barrel bundle scraps and low tier publisher games that not a whole lot of people are interested in at anything other than rock bottom prices.

Gentlemen, you make good points. IGS is one of the few places that gets non bundled games or premiers them first from time to time. Also, IGS is pretty clinical with getting us steam keys for greenlit games.

Also, Ship Minecraft does look somewhat cool, but MP only will keep me from investing.

So has Groupees...
According to a guy at Reddit, you get all available keys - so if a game has Desura, Steam, and GOG keys, you get all three, not just one. I suppose that if the game gets Greenlit you get one too.

This might be a way to get some indie games on GOG for cheap.

It's 100% up to GOG, not IGS or Groupees. Groupees tries to provide GOG keys now whenever possible.. however IGS was the first site to provide GOG keys AFAIK.

Groupees tried to get GOG keys for Eador and Ring Runner for a recent bundle, and GOG rejected them.

It's weird that they would OK GOG keys for certain games, but then deny them for others. Since the Eador/Ring Runner rejections is the most recent incident that we're aware of, it's possible that this is a new policy on GOG's part (to deny keys). I guess we'll have to wait until there is another game that is a candidate or GOG keys to see if this is, in fact, a trend.

EDIT: If I'm wrong about the Eador/RR request being the most recent, somebody correct me on that. I can't recall anything else since then, though.

My guess is that they denied keys for those games because they were so new. Ittle Dew was another game that they rejected keys for. I doubt they're denying all keys.

As I said: all available keys.

Only four games have GOG keys at the moment: 99 Levels to Hell, The Real Texas, Waking Mars, and Spacechem. Only the last two have Steam keys included.

I was told that if you buy one of these games you get all the keys that IGS provides if they're available. You don't have to choose between one service, like how you have to at other places like the Humble Store.

When did you have to choose which service at Humble? The Origin bundle was the only one I've bought that came with keys too anything but steam, but I got both that time. Groupees is usually good about providing multiple keys as well in my experience. I'm not trying to knock IGS, but it doesn't seem that different IMO from other sites.

... Humble Store. Not Humble Bundle.

You know, that thing indie devs use to sell their games. For example, Retro City Rampage's Humble Store thing lets you choose between a Steam or GOG key along with the DRM Free download. :p

Sorry if I sound grouchy. I guess I am tonight. :(

That's up to the devs, not Humble. There are some games that come with multiple keys in one purchase, Defender's Quest comes with Steam, GOG, and Desura.

I honestly didn't know some were like this, I'd only ever seen games include all applicable keys.

No worries, my ignorant comments could have been taken as grouchy as well. I guess I see where you are coming from now, even though at the moment so few games on IGS come with GOG keys it doesn't do much to change my opinion. Something to keep in mind for the future no doubt...

Here's a little trick I've worked out to always get the new IGS game for around $1.00 *with* the BTA bonus. The only disadvantage is that you have to do it exactly when the game offers switch:

  • Wait for the old game countdown to reach zero
  • The Time Left To Buy counter will now say Finished
  • Wait a couple of seconds and reload the IGS page
  • The new game offer should now be displayed
  • Immediately press Buy Now to go to the IGS Checkout page
  • Move the price slider to as low as it'll go while still getting the BTA
I've invariably been able to get every game with the BTA bonus at $1.01 - I don't necessarily buy every game but once I'm at the checkout page I can take my time deciding and still keep the BTA price at $1.01.

While I can confirm this works, it's not really a trick. The BTA isn't rigged, so it makes sense you can get it for $1.01 right when the deals go live.

The problem is, the checkout page refreshes itself, and the checkout screen on paypal is timed before it expires, so you have only a few minutes to decide if you want the game.

Proteus looks neat, but I know I wouldn't spend more than 15 minutes with it. Knowing that, I'd rather get it with a bunch of other games in the $1 tier in a Groupees or Humble Bundle.

So has Groupees...
So? That doesn't mean anything.

Has Groupees offered 99 Levels to Hell, Waking Mars, Spacechem, or The Real Texas with GOG keys in addition to Steam/Desura? Nope.

I'm neutral and don't care how this turns out for IGS, but just because Groupees had a couple bundles with GOG keys for different games doesn't mean this feature of IGS is all of a sudden a throwaway.

If IGS negotiates a few more games to have GOG keys it will be a decent selling point for them.

I never said it was throwaway, but it's not completely unique to them either. Groupees has had a few GOG keys thrown in, and IGS only has a handful of games with them as well so I don't see it as any huge advantage.

If it's a feature you like, great. Personally it doesn't change much in my eyes as it isn't as if every game suddenly has GOG keys, nor do I have any real desire for them. I get that some people want to have a game on every platform, but to me Steam or Desura is enough. To each their own, no need to blow things out of proportion.

I'm not blowing it out of proportion. I just meant that there is a slight edge there for IGS for people who do want those games on GOG and Steam/Desura. I'm not necessarily one of those people, but they do exist out there.

But as I said, if IGS manages to sell more games that have GOG keys, it would provide them with a decent attraction for people who do want games on GOG. I never said it's a huge advantage. Something need not be a huge advantage to still be an advantage, however slight. ;)

I highly doubt I will ever buy anything from their store. I've barely bought any of their 4-day promo games, but again we're talking hypotheticals regarding what they could do with this store in the future.

Ok then, your comment just came off a little strong on me I guess, but it seems were more on the same page after all. I don't see myself buying much from them either, but it's not for a dislike of the site. There are just better deals on what I want elsewhere is all ;)

Next time u guys should just duke it out: http://store.steampowered.com/app/204080/

I already own Proteus, but I really like it.  It's a gorgeous game and it's really cool how the world reacts to you.  There are some great surprises in there, so it's best to go in cold.

There's not much replay, but it's certainly cool while it lasts.  Definitely on the artsy side.

New game up on IndieGameStand: 99 Levels to Hell.  Might end up picking this up at some point during the deal.

99 Levels to Hell comes with a GOG key. So I guess we have our answer to the question of whether or not GOG has instituted a new "no key" policy for games appearing in bundles. Which means they pick & choose the games that they allow to get keys. Interesting,

Speaking of GOG keys, anybody here planning to buy this game and not care about the GOG key? If so, I'll go halfway with you on this for the GOG key. 50 cents a piece.

EDIT: Found a CAG to split with.

Kinda iffy on if they'll give Steam keys or not. According to their Greenlight page: "EVERY ONE WHO BOUGHT THE GAME ON DESURA WILL GET A FREE STEAM KEY."  Don't know if that applies to people who ACTIVATE the game on Desura.

Anyway, looks cool, but I've got enough rogue-like games on my plate and would rather not add another one that I'll never "beat." Will wait for it to be in a bundle.

I actually chipped in a few extra cents to pick up the level editor.  I could see myself building and testing levels more than actually playing the main game.
