GGT 292: The Official Final Fantasy XIII Strategy Thread

Those were some good matches Indig, would be cool to get more GGT people in a game together
Yeah, it was fun. Definitely see why the game is so simple now. It's too hectic with that many players and just trying to push Y as it is.

Still not going to buy it, but whatever.

You know me so well.

I'd like to see how crazy it gets if there is just 8 player ffa, would be pretty intense, probably just a real lot going on. I'll be picking it up now, hopefully I'll be able to find someone to play it with :p

Lats... quads too. How did you know?
Voodoo magic

Leda is not just some "scene chick."

But I'll forgive you this time cuz you posted Leda and that's always good.

Well, guess I'm not playing that for a while. Sounds brutal.
I dunno why, but I can usually get pretty attached to characters in games/shows/etc, but stuff like that in the multiple choice games never really did anything for me. It's like, going into it I know stuff is gonna suck and I think that takes away a big part of it for me. When I play a game where I don't expect stuff like that and it happens it's usually more memorable imo.

Well, here's the thing that made it for me. I expected something like
the dog dying protecting me from bandits, but I expected it much later on in the season/episode. The dog turned so quickly though, it broke my heart. I got really attached to that dog in the 20 something minutes that I had it. I still regret that we weren't able to make it work.

Started the Ratchet and Clank collection a bit ago, got through like the first 3 planets in the first game. Never beat these back on PS2 but I remember renting some of them and playing bits and pieces and enjoying them. I have the collection + 3 of the other games just sitting in my collection so I figured it's finally about time I got around to them, now to see how long it takes to actually go through and finish them :/

Fair enough man, not sure if that would have gotten me personally but I can definitely see how that would be a bummer, especially that early in the game.

I think it might be because you only have that 20 minutes with it, if the time was longer it might have affected me more, but for some reason even though I love (and have) animals in real life, I usually don't grow to care for them nearly as much in games compared to actual people. I'm sure it's possible an animal could get to me in a game, but I haven't played one where they have yet.

I don't know what it is but I just couldn't get that into TWD game, I like other Telltale games though (and other classic adventure games like that), still have to try Wolf Among Us sometime as well.

None of those game interest me except maybe Dr. Luigi. Oh, and getting a free Celebi for using the Pokemon bank is pretty rad.

January 30th, I believe. You get a free month to use to it before you have to start paying for it (but only if you want to).

Wow, that Nintendo news. Kirby! We can't forget Rosalina being confirmed for Brawl, either!

The Celebi is a nice bonus for Pokemon Box.

I stand corrected. The Pokemon Box starts up on December 27 and you have until January 30th to claim your free month.

Man, starting R&C for the first time? That's going to be great. Going Commando is some god tier gaming.

Rosalina and Luna are great additions.  I'm excited.

Lots of fun-looking stuff coming out, although I'm really wondering now if Nintendo's characters and gameplay are getting too long in the tooth to continue much further.  I mean, the games look fun, but they don't seem to be adding very much innovative new stuff.  2D platforming/fighting gameplay is classic, but with all the tech out now, they should be able to come up with new ways of doing these things.

Zelda Musou will only be dope if I can play as Sheik.

Do you guys remember when Sonic and Mario were mortal enemies and not fuckin shot putting together? At least one of those franchises still manages to put out good games though.

Funny how much Nintendo relies on Sonic now, and vice versa.  Either way, it goes to show that neither company is in the position it once was.

Rosalina and Luma are badass.  I love how they work together to create interesting combo/attack/defense opportunities.  She could be one of the better Smash characters, if they let her be.

That's kind of how I feel whenever I play a NSMB game (even the good ones ie. Wii and WiiU), but then I play something like 3D World or Galaxy and I'm like "nope they've still got it". However, those games tend to be spread out more compared to the less innovative stuff, most likely because developing those kind of ideas probably take a lot more time and effort than retreading old ground. The fact is they've been pumping out first party games like crazy lately, so I can't fault them if not every single game feels like a new experience. As long as we keep getting things like Wonderful 101 and 3D World in addition to those less exciting releases (which to be honest, are probably still exciting for younger generations that didn't grow up with 2D Mario like we did), I'm not gonna complain.

I played The Wolf Among Us episode 1 last night. Aside from the loading slowdowns and occasional graphical bug, that is some damn fine storytelling. If you haven't read Fables, you really need to. Gonna dive into that new Walking Dead once I get home and further delay beating Xillia.

I think I would like Telltale games more if they stuck to the choices you make and cut out the "video-gameyness", because every time I play a mini-game in something like Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us it's annoyingly awful and I stop.
