This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

After finishing Brothers, I have 2 thoughts:

1. I want to buy Bioshock Infinite during the Steam Flash Sale, before that story gets spoiled. I would've hated having Brothers spoiled for me.

2. Maybe I need to start being willing to spend a few more bucks on the more recent, higher profile games instead of buying a bunch of $2-3 games I kinda wanted.

I completely agree with #2. That's why I'm willing to wait for a 50% discount for games I know I want to play within the next month or so, especially so I won't get it spoiled prematurely. Backlog/vault games can wait for 75% + 20% coupon or bundle :) If I know I want to play it soon though, it makes sense to pay a bit more (but still never full price!).
I'll be quite honest, I get the best of both worlds by just not reading much about video games or articles or any of that. I mean I read up on stuff right up to release day to know what a game is generally about, but other than that I tend not to read any reviews, watch any play throughs, or anything like that. I've yet to have a game spoiled for me without me actually wanting it to be spoiled or doing something I knew specifically would spoil a game for me.

Personally, I really don't get much out of reading up on games too often and I like the appeal of going into games cold turkey without any influence by critics or fan(boys).

Just got a foil drop worth >$3.

That's a good point, though I personally enjoy listening to gaming podcasts such as Giant Bomb and Idle Thumbs, so I like to play the games they refer to. Usually, thanks to PC Master Race, I can get games at 50% off while people are still talking about them, which is best of both worlds for me.

Then again, I still have a backlog of games I want to play soon, yet I've been wasting spending dozens of hours playing Cook, Serve, Delicious... what is wrong with me?

Thought I was going to make a run at your Vader table score...I felt like the above gif.....then I saw how far away I actually was and I felt like Wes Mantooth being number 2....then I realized Trevathian had me too bumping me down to #3 like Luke Wilson.

If you sell all foils for a game will it get rid of the foil badge progress listing in the badge progress chart?
Are you running Enhanced Steam? I see a "View Foil Badge Progress" in my web browser even though I don't have any foils, but if I go to the Steam Client that option is not listed.

On that score, I slowly got messages as to how far away I was from the next person. Then I got to "125m more to go to beat BigShow!" and I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

See, part of why I want to play Bioshock Infinite now, rather than wait, is because I want to listen to Giant Bomb talk about Brothers in their GOTY episode, and I bet they will talk about Bioshock Infinite as well, which will probably have spoilers.

If you guys don't like seeing that, you probably don't want to play the Avengers table then. :)

Unbelievable!!!! I just got back to back Foil drops from the same game. Second foil only worth $1.50ish, but that's crazy. GabeN is really off his game tonight. I debated saying anything because it kind of felt like bragging at that point, but I didn't know it was possible to get multiple foil drops from the same game so hopefully that can happen for you guys too.

I can now confirm that in the Steam Client/Web Browser Badges page, you'll have a separate entry for the game. When you sell the foil though, that entry goes away. I have a lot less games on my Badge page then games I'm eligible for booster packs so apparently Steam also removes games from that list every time you sell off all the cards.

If I go to badges it shows Electronic Super Joy - Foil Badge. It does this with one or two others as well. I just want to know if it will go away if I sell the one foil I have per game.

Thanks for the info. Gonna sell my foils for games.

Assetto Corsa was 25% off right? If it's on a recap deal for that price .. does anyone expect it to hit that again between the end of this sale and, say, mid-March? I'm going to want to play that game immediately, but at the present time, this is my gaming PC:

#2. Buying what you really want are really going to play is money well spent.

Pricing games to make it look like a glitch? Very sneaky, Steam...very sneaky.
Didn't look like glitch to me. Imo, in this sale more than past ones, glitch has gone mainstream and is being called out a lot. But one really needs to know the pricing history and future prospects of sales to really call it a glitch. Also very important is the quality of the game and price... seasoned CAGs would not be jumping at $0.25 Fairy Solitaire.

May the gods strike me down for agreeing with Fox. But I completely agree with Fox on this. I don't consume gaming media/entertainment and I don't have a problem of getting any spoilers. I even read (and occasionally, begrudging watch) mainstream reviews of games (IGN, GameSpot, etc) and I haven't had any game plots spoiled for me.

Decent people use

You mean that's not what the inside of my PC looks like? SSD = nice! I've been meaning to get one of those.

Not sure about Assetto. Tough to tell with early access games.

I was planning on getting an SSD later on, and I was planning on a 1TB Blue drive as well ... then the day I went to buy my hard drives, that SSD went on sale for around $60 and a 2TB Black drive went on sale for $30 after rebates. So I took the storage plunge.

I don't think so. This is my first true gaming rig. I don't want to get too crazy.
The stock cooler should be sufficient if you are not overclocking. I don't rate highly of CoolerMaster CPU cooler, if you are going to splash the extra cash, go for more decent ones like Noctua or Thermalright coolers.

Hey, I just finished Brothers too! 10 minutes ago. :) It was a great experience. Evocative and I think the length was just right for the story - it didn't overstay its welcome like some games do.

At first I was a little 'ugh, really?' because when the characters started talking there were no subtitles (not even any options for that in the menu) but some googling told me that the language the characters were speaking sounded like gibberish anyway and the point was to pay attention to their body language. So if you're deaf and have no clue what they're saying... no worries. Just watch what they're doing :)

Anyway, I have to say I agree with your 2nd point. Sometimes I can be a real cheap-ass (hello, I frequent this site of all places) but I have noticed that in the last year or so I've been more willing to pay a bit more for games I know I want to play right away, even though I know they will be cheaper down the road. I suppose that it helps that: 1) I actually have gainful employment now and I'm not just a broke college student; 2) my tastes in gaming have become more refined over the last few years so I can be reasonably sure of what I will like and what I won't, and I spend my money accordingly. I mean, when I first discovered steam and PC gaming I was like... BUY ALL THE GAMES! But now I'm a lot more discerning with my money.

Shutting up now!

It was essentially THE recommended cooler, one of the best/the best selling cooler out there, and tests well, and of course, I've already bought it! Thanks for the advice though.

People actually browse the store through the client?
The Steam Client is useless for browsing the store. The only complaint I have about the web browser is that it hangs every time I go to the main Market page because Enhanced Steam needs to do all of your Market transaction calculations I think.

Do you guys think I should get Bioshock Infinite on Steam for $10 (minus my $1.50 of Steam bucks), or wait to see if it hits Amazon's EC list?

Eh, screw it. I'll wait to see if it hits the Editor's Choice list.

I seem to be able to use the client just fine? Why t3h hate?

Like 99% of the time! Is that odd? Anyway, I'll imply the answer is yes from that response! :D/
I certainly think it's odd: I couldn't live comfortably without tabs, Snaplinks, and back + forwards buttons that actually work as expected. That and the pages always seem to load quicker in a browser.

A lot of 2K games were on last year's EC list so there is a good chance Bioshock Infinite or the Triple Pack will make it to the list.

It is going to make the EC list. I mean I would be shocked if it didn't.

Also Skyrim did one of the best crashes. Right as I am about to finish an important quest
Kill Alduin, Dragonslayer Quest.
, my game crashes. Then steam has to sync all my skyrim saves...

I do all my shopping and inventory management through the client, but I use the web store to browse the market.  The only time I use the web interface while shopping is to see Enhanced Steam's color coding of DLC to see what I don't already have.  Plus the occasional wishlist check for games already owned.

I just find that the client handles transactions far more smoothly.

I have the same one, it's widely regarded as a great cooler.

dude, ignore him, I have it and it performs within a degree or 2 of the ones that cost 3 times as much

played a little Tomb Raider last night, not sure if this is supposed to happen though.

I think everyone cringes the first time that happens to them in Tomb Raider. I don't think it's possible to avoid it. Then you shriek in horror as you do everything in your power to avoid Lara from experiencing that fate again, only to have her get pierced over and over again.

Edit: Shriek is probably the wrong expression there... I don't really shriek while playing games, I swear.

has anyone tried out Extreme Gas Guzzlers yet?

either I'm THE worst racing gamer ever, or this game is hard as fuck!

i was coming in last EVERY round on hard mode for the first 2 races ( i kept retrying).

I dropped it down to Medium difficulty, and was about to finish at 2nd place and then i get rammed to fucking hell...last place.

I feel like I'm supposed to be grinding up upgrades for my piece of trash car because the car is WAY too weak.

If i try to ram a car, my car is the one that gets thrown off course. If another car rams me, I go spinning back into the Steam Autumn Sale.

uhm...seems fun though

I wonder how hard people will complain at me if I put up a foil card for sale at a penny. Just for ***** and giggles. By the way what's this I hear about people being barred from the market?

Complain? No.

But you'd basically be screwed over by an asshole with a bot who'll take your foil and relist it at a high price. It's not worth the complaints.

It depends on if you tell what foil you're putting up beforehand.
Let's say I have one valued at a dollar. Would putting the card up at a penny crash the market for that card? Not saying I'm gonna do it just saying that it might be a little bit funny if that were the case. Maybe a whole buncha people join in.
