New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Congrats again. We will be streaming Deadly Premonition soon so maybe you'll win that too!
The Nether and Gravity Badgers streaming was entertaining. Enforced my resolve to hold off on both games probably. Anyone who has never played DP might want to pass on the streaming since there's something satisfying about experiencing that game for the first time when you're playing it...lol

re: Nether

There's rumors that it's made by the same people who made WarZ/Infestation Stories. Putting that out there since I know a lot of people don't want to support them so better just avoid it then get all ragey if you feel you were tricked into buying it. Back when there was a WarZ App it was developed by the same studio that developed Nether and the IP for both games is held by the same individual.

Gameplay is somewhat similar, except this is a FPS, looks nicer, and you fight hell spawn teleporting creatures instead of zombies. I'm still eventually getting Nether, but will likely wait for 75% off since there's plenty of MP games to scratch a similar itch.

Edit:

Voted Wrack since it is an FPS.

Steam deals are abound, this holiday season

Such low prices, to not spend there's no reason

Although the voting community is daft

The outrage and comments make for a good laugh......t

I've never heard of Wrack before now but it does look good. The other two have already been discounted in the past anyway.
Early Access FPS... I can't bring myself to vote for it. I own DuckTales, so I'm thinking of voting for the 20th Anniversary Ed of Another World (own/beat the original)...

Another World has been 75% off before though. I don't know if Wrack is any good, but I try to vote for the games that haven't had good sales.

Wrack is a pretty fun old school shooter, it has a good single player mode. for only 3 bux i'd bite.

I voted for Another World: 20th Anniversary, as well.

EDIT:

I wonder if Steam-version comes w/ CEG or is DRM-FREE, since this game is on GOG (DRM-FREE only allowed there).

Have it your way.,. I'll vote for the FPS... I was just digging into the differences between the 20th ed, and the original version (I played on Mac)... yeah... really nothing more me. Higher res, screens, higher def backgrounds... new sound, but all quite the same (imo, it doesn't have room to change much)... not like DuckTales did. I honestly don't care... [NDA redacted] is going to win anyway.

It doesn't look like any of the DLC is necessary for those more interested in single-player. Two of the packs only add MP characters and the other one just adds new skins for two characters and weapons in the campaign.
I'm just cranky at it for how slow the price drop has been...

I can't wait to get my Steam key for Doctor Who Adventures from that one Groupees bundle so I can go back in time and kill the bastard who started using idiot-colored font in this thread. Pink is shitty enough, but for the love of glob, stop using fucking hyperlink orange.

There is no need to be upset.

It's not pink, it's ピンク。

I could very well google this, but I'm a lazy bastard so I'm gonna ask here. Any word on the possibility of GFWL getting patched out of Dark Souls? The price is right, but I keep flinching because of the possibility of the game becoming unplayable 7 months from now (or whenever the hell GFWL shuts down).

Then wait. If you don't see yourself playing it in seven months, then don't buy it. Or buy it now and play it right away so if it doesn't get patched out it won't matter.

I guarantee you it will. Namco is a business and probably wants to make money off it long term. Steamworks is zero overhead. $6 for game of the generation with the DLC.

You're gonna like the way you look, I guarantee it.

Sound advice. Frankly I don't see myself playing it any time soon, so I might as well wait.

EDIT: LOL thanks for the input Vince. It's just gonna end up in the backlog, so I'm just gonna wait & see.

Am I missing something? Why is it so important to complete the winter Sale deck of cards and craft a badge? The cards expire (and the badges too) after the sale. it's not like you're going to get booster packs for the completed deck or anything. someone explain this insanity!

Thought about picking up Might and Magic Heroes VI. So, I checked out some gameplay videos. Looks like an enjoyable game. Then I visited the store page to see that it has 3rd party DRM. Checked out the steam forums and it's page on page of people complaining about Uplay DRM. My personal favorite was "U-Play? More like No-Play". Looks like I'm going to pass.

The only reason I crafted once and am considering crafting again is to gamble a few bucks with the hopes of getting one of those ridiculously rare items that sell for a ton of money. It's like a Steam lotto ticket to me.

You'll pretty much never be buying another Ubisoft game again as they're committed to putting U-Play on all their new titles.

Limited Edition Badge... no more will forged after 3 Jan... Don't delay, Act now! ;)

...since they expire, it adds impetus to craft, sell, or gift them.

Crafting a badge doesn't directly affect booster drops - it's your level that has an effect on them.

The reason for crafting this badge is the same as pretty much any other one: for the XP/levels, for the "status", and proof that you've "been there, done that."

EDIT: and then there's the chance of a rare/valuable prize.

I was considering it too. It was a combination of the price (over $8 from a trader) that led me to look into the game further, and with the numerous bug complaints and Uplay threads I found I decided against picking it up.

You wouldn't be the first.
Ghost kitty?

Are you filling in for MysterD?
I don't get it.

I do want the badge, as long as it doesn't cost me anything. I'm not going to buy sets of them. But really the chance of getting a crazy item appeals to me. After listening to Idle Thumbs' episodes with insider emails about the TF2 and DOTA2 "Hat Barons" (The Christmas Blast episode has the latest) it makes it super interesting. If you didn't know the one of a kind DOTA2 courier sold for 39K, yes K!

Need cards #1, 8
Extras I have #5(x2), 7(x1)

It looked totally cool when it was new. Got it from the bargain bin at Egghead.

It was not fun to play.

Watch a video on YouTube before you decide. It's closer to a Dragon's Lair than a real game.
I'm going to disagree, I beat it back in the day, and then again in 2000. It's gameplay reflexes and puzzles, it's also very much learn by dying. It is a real game. I really wouldn't care to guess how the modern gamer would react to it. I'm sure if it was released now as an indie game it would get much press-praise.

I don't get it.
He has a knack for reducing my open-ended/oblique comments to the concrete. Also technically incorrect, same word in two writing systems, not languages.
