Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry

EA was the only publisher Tony said he was able to get ahold of in time, he said a lot of other publishers hadn't replied yet because they were still out of the office for the holidays. He said there would probably be a huge addition to the list on Monday
 
On the fence about Ace Patrol bundle.  Obviously great price… but what if there's like a dozen great coupon deals later in the month!??!?!  That and I'm not entirely sure I'd like the games… they're just cheap.

Yeah I think there was a goof. Another user posted that he saw it on the Giveaways section before CheapyD or Tony got to post it here.

CheapyD probably got it all set up and sent word to Tony who has yet to say anything. So I can only assume he was busy/sleeping when the message got to him which could explain why he has yet to say anything.

Basically .. the cat (not asheskitty :whistle2: ) was accidentally let out of the bag ..

Pure frustration because we (I?) thought they would do the giveaway at a reasonable time. Not to mention the Defiance giveaway was kind of a second chance for people who didn't get a key earlier today from LN3000/Tony.

I'm more so pissed that I waited all day to learn WHEN the giveaway would happen, only to have my internet die for 3 hours and then come back to see the keys are gone...

Have to wonder if they are changing everything over manually to avoid the free game mistakes of the past couple of years. Here's hoping Tony conjures some great bundles for later in the month.

And just what is a reasonable time?. People from many countries buy from amazon....its only fair everyone has a shot at the giveaway.

Some people deserve it like LN, but I do agree there's a lot of people who do it to elicit sympathy as well. Reminds me of a regular on GOG forums who always, always makes sure to list which games he doesn't have yet whenever a sale's on.

True, but this is CAG, not Amazon. The keys were to be given away on CAG, so releasing them at midnight on a Friday/Saturday doesn't make much sense.

Although that may be true, strictly speaking officially Amazon US only sells to the US/Canada? Not the rest of the world. But yeah this is CAG, not Amazon I guess :)

Although in some cases (like mine) it ended up having that result. I definitely didn't expect that.

I missed out on the codes earlier (despite having quicker times than a few who received) and I was here for Defiance but a few weeks shy of the required member time! We can wallow in sadness together :(

That being said incredibly charitable of you Tony to give stuff out like this, thanks a ton for the opportunity at free stuffs.

GMG has each of the Ace Patrol games for 99 cents before the 25% coupon. With the 10 cent credit on each, that's about $1.30-$1.40 for the same bundle, prior credits depending.

Personally, I'd rather spend the extra $0.30 there and have that EC credit for Amazon later in the month, but I might not have as many credits as some.

 
Well, on the bright side, even though I didn't get a key for Defiance, since I'm up this late, I can finally use that dine for 2 coupon for McDonald's breakfast :) Only 1 more hour until they start serving :)

 
$5 credit can use now on Amazon? I try to purchase Bioshock Infinite but the price is $9.99.no discount $5 credit that I have.

I would definitely not say I deserve it more than anyone else. But I definitely appreciate the kindness.

It's sort of the same reason why I'm not too upset when "lurkers" get key drops. Because everyone deserves a chance sometimes.

And I tend to get more than my fair share of games, so other people getting a chance is fine with me. Even when my selfish/greedy side complains. :)

McD's makes me sick everytime eat there. Haven't been to them in like 5+ years

Need to start a new website .. www.cheapassdiner.com .. then we can backlog food ... wait that doesn't sound good....
