This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Since Steam is doing Daily Deals based on failed Community Votes, I'm throwing out a few that didn't win. I fully expect Steam to run them in the next few days so that I can buy them.

Tetrabot

Pool Nation

Contraption Maker

Wanderlust: Rebirth

Do the right thing, Gabe!
I'll wait for Pool Nation even though its only 70% off.

Most say yes on the Secret World?  I'm not a MMO player but looks intriguing.  Need more time.  Do most activate this on steam or go to funcom?

No TSW keys activate on steam, only on funcom's site. If you want it on steam, you have to buy it on steam and even then you have to register the key steam gives you on funcom's site to play.

Funcom. I can get you a 2-3 day trial... (Keep in mind it's at least a 15GB download and 35-40GB on disk, if you're time/space limited)

Yes. Certainly worth the price. The big draw of TSW is the world. (and good low priced B2P MMO)

I'm sorry to derail all the Webster talk, but I just want to say that Andy Dalton sucks.

Why couldn't he have waited a week to have this sort of performance?

I'd love the trial but by the time I tried it I'd miss the deal from the EC list. I think I'm just going to go with your recommendation and grab it. Thanks

I'll add you to CAG MMO, but there's a bigger TSW group

I havent been on steam forever :p. I was playing TSW for a while and stopped because I had no one to play with. Its a good game. I use a xbox 360 controller to play and put it on my tv so its even more enjoyable that way.

Ill probably start playing again if I can find a crowd to play with. I need a break from console gaming.

You can....but I dont know why you would ever want to.
That caught me off guard... then I had some vague recollection... that said, I'm a controller fan... but I play MMOs with KB/M... Then again I don't have this "living room" thing that people always go on about.

no he just went to hottest team in afc chargers who were no chance in playoffs u expect the hottest team not to lose thenu out of ur mind the coldest team chiefs not to lose

I have gotten several PM's asking about the details of the points given every month via Funcom if you carry a subscription into The Secret World and whether they should get the Massive Edition or not. Here's the info on the current subscription model for those interested:

Screen_Hunter.jpg

There is also a $200 lifetime subcription plan. I will be buying the Lifetime after my current sub expires in 3 months. I agree for most people a sub isn't necessary at all, but if you love the game and put the kind of time I do into it, if you figure how many months you'll play, and the fact you never have to buy DLC again, it's a great deal. $200 divided by just 2 years (pretty mild by MMO standards) is just $8.33 a month. If it goes 5 years, that's $3.33/month. WOW has been going for 10 years, that would be $1.66/month.

i guess you can play MMOs with a controller...if you are playing single player and don't plan on actually being any good.

Since most here aren't social gamers I guess it would be fine.

I've got a lot of you firended on Steam, so I'll just ask here for an invite to the CAG MMO group.  (Invite please?)  I just got Defiance last week, haven't played it since there was that free weekend or something.

Done. (Yay, someone who was already clogging up on my friends list. ;)

Post the the Roll Call thread =)

There should seriously be a way to see what emoticons really look like on Steam without buying them first or seeing someone else post them.
http://www.steamcardexchange.net/index.php?showcase

Find the game you're looking for. Scroll down to the emoticons section. They have both the way they appear when used, and how they look in your inventory.

As an example, here is the listing for the recent Steam Holiday event. Notice how different the pics on the bottom (as they appear in your inventory) look from the way they appear when they are actually used.

Though you probably shouldn't have to go to an outside source for this sort of information.

Ashes, can you please add me, as well? I jsut downloaded TSW last night...not sure when I'll get around to playing it, I'm in the middle of Morrowind right now. But I do want to play at some point.

Keep trying. I had to attempt sign-in about six times before it worked but I think I was timing out because my Steam games were being synced with my Steamgifts account. I believe that means I have way too many games.
still no go as of this time too :X

entire steamgifts website seems to be down for me

This...this is beautiful. This is exactly what I was looking for. Particularly, I wanted to see the emoticons for the Holiday 2013 sale. Those pictures are so far off what is actually displayed -- but still look good -- that I wanted to know which ones I should get.

Thanks a TON. Bookmarked.

does anyone know if the price of emotics ever go above say $0.50 or so? I have a rare one I crafted during the sale but holding onto it a bit longer to see if prices go up

I have the

:czombie:

it's trending around 30-40 right now

I wish there was a way to see what an emoticon looks like in actual chat use before buying. They shrink them down so much, for some dumb reason. They often look cool on the market and then look like shit in actual use.

In general they'll keep going down as more people craft them. In the case of the holiday emoticons though, they'll likely only go up in value considering they can no longer be created. You could go crazy trying to figure out the marketplace though so my general advice is to sell when the profit you get makes you feel happy.

Alternatively, if you just need to see a single one but don't want to look it up through the site, just put the name of it at the end of this URL:

http://cdn.steamcommunity.com/economy/emoticon/

And it will show in your browser window. The names are the ones between the colon ( : ) symbols.

EDIT: An example below for the 2013 Holiday Sale, Rainbow Barf :)trainbowbarf:):

http://cdn.steamcommunity.com/economy/emoticon/trainbowbarf

Can't link it directly (as an image) because it's extension-less and I'm too lazy to upload it elsewhere.

I love when people use them in chats and I have no idea what they are because half the time I'm on my TV, and it's too far to see.

They should really make them a bit larger.
