This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Newegg is really only useful when they decide to sell vouchers from GPU bundles for like $2. As in the BL2 pre-release vouchers a few years ago.

I was looking for ways to make Steam start up faster, and this sped it up a little bit:

Control panel > Internet options > Connections > LAN Setting > Uncheck "Automatically detect settings".

Any other tips? There was a period of 2-3 days when Steam was starting up instantly but that was very short-lived. Normally it takes up to 30 seconds for me.
Have your neighbor reboot his wireless router...?

If you are not getting a different graphic card, the other option is to use a dremel cutting wheel to cut the casing then get something like this and make it into a case filter.

Edit: After looking at the design of your case, I think it will spoil the aesthetic look if you cut a hole at the top unless you replace the whole top panel with the mesh so the only option is to get a graphic card with a side pci-e power connector.

That actually looks really cool, but way beyond my capabilities right now. Running out and finding tools, parts, etc.

That is an interesting design... I'm guessing you needed it to look like a VCR to pass the living room wife test?

Edit: Just to make sure I'm clear... I'm not shitting on the choice. Its just an unusual one which leads to unusual issues... Like you've already learned.
You know, it's actually not so much that. I think eventually I'm going to try to make a micro one for the media center since space is at a premium there. I wanted something smaller than my old case (which was huge) and something that I could sit sideways with the monitor on top if needed. There's a limited market for sideways cases. This one was on daily flash sale on Tiger Direct for $40 shipped after rebate, comes with a PSU, and looks different. For some reason I am intrigued by the idea of a computer looking like something else, even if it is the world's biggest and oldest DVD player. Maybe I'll order a HD-DVD or Blu Ray sticker when I want to "upgrade" it.

Looks like a similar issue I had with my HTPC in a nMedia 6000B case with an ASUS 6850. I was going to cut the lid, but ended up downgrading the card since it's solely a HTPC (though may be used for Steam streaming shortly). I even bought a 90 degree PCI-E board adapter, but the internal configuration of the case just made it too cumbersome to mount correctly in either direction, though I didn't try the ribbon adapter. I still say fuck the card's plastic housing (assuming it's in the way) and remount the PCI-E power receptacle perpendicular.

It's actually that part in the red lines that is the main problem. I'm considering trying to cut it down and remove half of it which I think would be enough to allow me to mash the cables perpendicular and be fine. If that plastic rising above the connector was just smaller it would be fine.

This is making it VERY hard to wait for Borderlands 2 GOTY edition to drop in price :(

You could also get something like this, cut it in half and solder the female end to the board and just have a pigtailed female connector vs a solid mount. Though, I get the feeling you're adverse to soldering, which is understandable.

$14.99 isn't good enough?

Holy poop chute, I decided to delete all my Gamefly and GMG spam (1000+ emails) and unsub from their mailing lists today. It turned out I was subscribed to 6 different Gamefly mailing lists all this time. I think I just kept it on default settings when I signed up. They auto-sub you to Partner Offers, that ain't cool. :whistle2:|

So check your gamefly email subscriptions.

Yeah. I had to solder once and I mean functionally I was able to do it for what I needed to do (replace battery on 80s synthesizer) but this wasn't anything involving motherboards or complex parts. I don't have much faith in my soldering skills to do anything like that. I think my best bet would be finding a way to cut the plastic housing down on the PCI 6 Pin connector to give me the tiny bit of clearance I need.

What would you make of like this:

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R7-250-vs-Radeon-HD-7770

They say too close to call, but then in the individual comparisons it looks like 7770 is a lot better? And what about something like a 6570 or GT 630?
I was basing my assertion of the R7 240 as less than half as powerful as the 7770 on knowing that the R7 250 is about half as powerful as the 7770. So, yeah, a downgrade. Those R7 chips really look to be HTPC-level chips. Both the 6570 and the GT 630 wouldn't be even as powerful as the R7s.

Case not returnable? But yeah, the last thing I'd do is buy a sidegrade video card to accommodate a case.
Nothing wrong with that if you're trying to do something different in terms of the aesthetics of a case. It's just that when you do try to do something different in terms of the aesthetics of a case, you're often constrained in component choices.

Anyone have any experiencewith Kenshi? Wondering if it warrents Wish List status.
It was in the very first Indiefort bundle early in 2012. Someone may have it from that. I'm pretty sure Motoki has it.

I haven't played it for a while, the last time I played it didn't have sound yet, but I would say it has potential but is very rough. Development is really slow since it's one guy working on it. I think the first time I read about the game was about 2.5 years ago and it's still a long way from done.

At this point you're pretty much crowdfunding. If you are okay with that and then mucking around in a very alpha sandbox then go for it but if you want a more complete experience I would say to wait.

I think one of the biggest problems with this who crowdfunding Kickstarter Early Access etc trend is that that the light at the end of the tunnel of a finished game is really far off and developers are not so motivated to hurry it up any time soon. As much as publishers get villainized, for better or worse they light a fire under developers' butts to get a more or less finished product out the door.

Does anyone here want to buy some TF2 keys for $1.85 each?

It's ~13% off for Steam wallet, since they're pretty much guaranteed to sell for at least $2.14 (after fees) on the market.

I'm concerned about Steam introducing a Canadian store this year, and what will happen to my US wallet dollars. I don't want them to convert my shit to Canadian. I have $72 US in there, and if they start forcing me to pay 13% sales tax I don't want to do any of my purchasing through them. I would be so pissed.

:whistle2:k Maybe I should blow my $72 before then... =P~

Was that in some other bundle recently? It seems familiar.
Naw, but a bunch of cags on my friends list want it and not a single one owned it. I didn'tknow why it was so popular, but then I read the description and it said "roguelike" so naturally I had to buy the bundle for it.

Also, Booster Trooper adds 6 guest passes to inventory. So if any cag buddies want to open up their ports and let me in...

Hm, looks interesting but I'm not paying $3 just for that and Booster Trooper (I have everything else). Guess I'll wait for it to be bundled elsewhere.

Yeah, I only owned Hamlet, and Badgers just went to my spare idling account that I'm building up for when my niece is old enough to play Secret of the Magic Crystals Bioshock infinite Ride em' Low.

Dean Windass' wife must have been a terrible cook then =/
A: That man has an unfortunate name. I had to google it just to see if it was real.

B: Dean Wind Ass has nothing on Preedatore Beckham.

C: Chicks dig soccer(football) players with mohawks. Especially Hull chicks(but only the hot ones).

D: Market research confirms that you should, indeed, hide your (legal aged, attractive, not psycho) daughters.

Surprisingly, I'm still hesitant. I almost bought it for $25 on Amazon, so this should be a no-brainier, but I still haven't finished Borderlands 1's DLC :( I'm not sure I'd play this right away.
It's a good price. There still hasn't been any announcement stating that they're even done adding DLC. I wouldn't expect to see a $5 all inclusive GOTY like the first one.

im reisiting cause im not buying it till complete so yea but it bee n on sale many times

Unless you're obsessed with Borderlands 2 I wouldn't worry about a GOTY edition,  You'll probably have your fill after once through the main campaign.  I really couldn't be bothered to do all the DLC.  Dragon Keep is the best if you absolutely have to get one.
