This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Well, after taking a 5 weeks to finish my first game of the year, I've finished my second four days later (Bastion), making 2/4 for the 4 in February thing. Next up is Guacamelee.

But first I think I'm gonna read a bit more Game of Thrones...I love snow days.

Not quite. What I mean is, when I go to a game's store page, the only tags I want to see there are the ones that my friends have added to that game. Basically a means to ignore the rest of the internet's opinion.

Daily Deal:  Toki Tori 2 - $3.74 (75% off)

Weekend Deal:  Total War: Rome II - $29.97 (50% off) and Company of Heroes 2 - $19.99 (50% off)

Right now ROME II and Company of Heroes 2 fans are at WAR! Every victory you have in these two games until February 17th at 9am Pacific, counts towards this ultimate faceoff! The fans who earn the highest percentage of victories in that time will win access to free DLC! Free content will be available to download once the winning side is announced until 10am pacific Saturday, February 22nd.

You assholes and your pjs. I gotta lug a damn keyboard across town in this weather to play for store credit. I don't know why I signed up for this gig...

No Time to Explain looks like something I might enjoy for the story but be aggravated by the gameplay. As far as I can tell, Arcane Worlds actually hasn't been bundled; it only appeared in a Groupees Spotlight. Not the Robots seems like it would be entertaining. Unearthed looks like a kind of indie Uncharted knock-off, which sounds right up my alley, which is why I've been eyeing it for a while. On the whole, I'd have preferred to get in at $3.99 but this still seems like a decent bundle to me.
Exactly. I'm a sucker for space time continuum stories/ideas but the gameplay looks like it leaves something to be desired.

That's what I was referring to with Arcane Worlds on Groupees. It was a spotlight deal for a greenlight game with a $1 buy-in. I actually picked this one up in hopes of it might be fun to mess around in, or as my definitive magic carpet simulator.

Edit: And I forgot to mention Not the Robots serves as my furniture eating simulator.

I take the term "most helpful" with a 40-mm chunk of rock salt when it comes to Steam reviews. I read this particular review and the guy trashes the game but gives it a "recommended," which is a bit stupid. He says virtually nothing about the game itself beyond a simple comparison to Ride to Hell. Crzyboy88's review includes more detail about the length and some of the glitches he experienced so that is more helpful than the most helpful Steam review.
No doubt all reviews and Steam reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially from people who are anonymous and where you don't know the game genres/types of gameplay they like more than others. I value the reviews of people I know here on CAG and writers I can identify with much much more than anonymous. I just thought it was rather humorous that anything could be compared to Ride to Hell and that 649 of 793 people (82%) found that review helpful.

Grumble. I was just about to grab Witcher 2 and you had to slam the brakes on.
It was yellow comic sans... I hate everyone's attempts at specific prophesy. If it was a weekly, I'd bet #1 would be in the $1 level and #2 in the $6 level... hence the sarcastic nature of my comment. I would ask MysterD to write a longer treatise on it, but...

Does CD Projekt even have enough games for a Humble bundle? Also as owners of GOG they're kind of competitors to Humble so I'm not really sure that's something they would do, though of course nothing can be ruled out at this point.

I guess if you think you'll play something at some point in the not too terribly distant future then get it otherwise it probably won't hurt to wait.

If nothing else they'll probably slash the price again way down when Witcher 3 comes out since they did that with Witcher 1 at about the time 2 came out.

Further part of the sarcasm... if anything I'd imagine they'd have a deep sale on GOG (so they can keep the revenue). ;)

At this point these are so cheap that one would only reject them as a matter of principal.

Right I mean whether or not you care for the game the production values on The Witcher 2 are obviously very high so $4 for it is kind of nuts, particularly in an era when overly retro indie junk and half assed mobile ports are regularly selling for $10-$15.

I am tilting my head sideways trying to read your post. I imagine this makes me look somewhat like a quizzical squirrel.

For future streams, is there a way on my end to lower the stream quality so I can actually watch it smoothly on my fast internet that just doesn't like streams.

So you're saying my attempt to separate the quoted text from my response failed?!? Son of a...! Actually I think you're right... way too much italic-usage. Interesting. Re-reading it makes my head tilt slightly. On the bright side at least now you know how to do a quizzical squirrel impersonation. :)

I believe twitch requires the streamer to be 'partnered'. At that point they receive more benefits, including the ability to add a quality button for followers to use during streams.

This looks so much better than Skullgirls but no online multiplayer for a fighting game is a big disappointment.
I need a bundle with these two titles, SFxTekken, MK, and Injustice. My fighter collection on Steam is pathetic. Oh, and KOF too.

after playing bastion i don't think i want to hear the word calamity again for awhile
There's a joke in here somewhere about a trigger but I'm not feeling clever enough at the moment

Tempted to start tagging every game with "Starts with __" for every letter of the alphabet and single-digit integer.  You know, with all the time I'm not spending on my backlog.

KOF is highly recommended if you like fighting games and then there is the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter IV. You may want to skip Street Fighter x Tekken because Capcom has no plans to transit the game to steamworks after GFWL shutdown.

Something may have changed that around.

I mean, this Capcom DLC sale didn't include any GFWL games like Dead Rising... but SSF4 and SFxT were. SSF4 is already confirmed to be getting an upgrade... so there's a good chance that SFxT will also have GFWL removed, especially since they run on the same engine.

I think they're just going to let SFxT die. They never bothered fixing the netcode and a lot of the DLC was never released on PC. Some of the stages and characters from SFxT will be reused in Ultra SF4 anyway.

I own Batman: Arkham Origins - Season Pass?  I do not remember purchasing this.  In fact, I actually remember thinking I did not want this.

Ultra will have some of the same characters, but they will be used differently than in SFxT.

I'm looking forward to Ultra. Too bad they barely supported SFxT on PC. Console version is still alive and kicking, but they stopped updating it despite SRK featuring several SFxT videos weekly. I feel like Capcom gave up on it too soon.

This reminds me, whatever happened to Tekken vs SF? Did Namco just get scared after seeing the horrible failure of SFxT or what?
