Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Tomb Raider needed Uncharted to come along and show them how to make a good game.
It took me a while to get used to shooting with a PS3 controller, so I started calling it that. By the end I really liked it, but I still wanted to use my super clever name for it.

Uncharted 2 is still the best of the bunch, imo.
I shall endeavor to play that in March!

You should at least take some comfort that you are not alone in this addiction; a lot of people in the android thread have been talking strategy (if that interests you at all).

Starts about here, interspersed with random deal talk: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/320964-android-deals-thread-v2-fist-of-awesome-099-the-room-099-toast-time-099/page-14#entry11527076
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even know we had an Android thread. I occasionally browse the Steam forum for this game, usually when I have questions about which way to level a character. But I resent how if you want to level certain characters you basically have to be glued to your PC all day, often at inconvenient times, to babysit your tourney ranking. Now, if they would implement an offline mode in the Android version and find a way to link it with your Steam account, I would be much happier. As it is I spend half the week matching 3 like a housewife on Facebook and the other half saying " fuck this, what am I doing with my life???"

Get that peasant shit out of here! (Just kidding, I've got the first two in the console backlog myself)

gears of war sucks. you dont want it.
Gears of War was a bro shooter back when bro shooters were still pretty good. Extremely solid TPS with a delicious amount of grit, dark helpless story, and copious amounts of gore (the Lancer will be a classic for generations to come). Multiplayer was also really well done and actually took a lot of skill, as opposed to most multiplayer shooters these days that can be won entirely by luck and blindfiring.

As with many series, though, later entries end up just being "more of the same", which is kind of unavoidable when it comes to popular series. Still excellent, though.

This is what I'm running into w/ COD: Ghosts, during this Free Weekend. It feels like, more so than ever, "More of the same." I've never had this feeling before on a CoD game as much as w/ this one. A lot of the previous CoD's in the MP, there was a new game mode I was able to really dig to keep me going. Kill Confirmed was a mode that really kept me going the last few COD MP's + was a nice spin on mixing Team DM + a twist to make CTF was more personal - but Gun Game here just ain't really enough for me.

{Shoulder shrug}

EDIT:

I never played Gears of War 2, 3, or Judgment - since they never got PC ports. But, yeah - it'd be nice to see more of that on the PC. I think I might have run my course w/ military-shooters...at least, for now, anyways.

Unfortunately, nearly every series experiences this if it goes on long enough. People complain about it w/Assassin's Creed, Zelda, COD, Batman Arkham games, etc. It really puts the developer in a bind though...try to really change it up, and people will go WTF IS THIS SHIT? THIS ISN'T WHAT (insert game series title) IS ALL ABOUT! Don't change much, and you get complaints about how the series never changes.

Exactly. This is why sometimes it's nice when there's just an epic, legendary game like Chrono Trigger/Cross (Cross is technically a sequel, but they're totally different games), Legend of Dragoon, etc. No sequels, just an amazing game that stands the test of time.

That said, I don't care much when later entries in a series are more of the same or have flaws. What's the alternative? It's not hurting me to get more of a series I like, regardless of some flaws.

Yup. To me, a future entry of a series I love should basically just have better graphics, more fine-tuned combat/game mechanics, and slight gameplay changes. If it's overall the same...great! They could keep releasing Legend of Zelda games and Dark Souls games and Elder Scrolls games from now til I die, I don't see myself going "ugh, more of the same..." they're some of my favorite game series for a reason, so I don't mind getting similar experiences each time a new one is released.

Pondering whether or not to get Far Cry 1 (still haven't played 3 which I bought during the Holiday sale) -- sure it's dated by now but it's one of those hallmark games I feel obligated to play.  Skipping 2 as I've heard no shortage of bad things re: AI, respawning, tedium, etc.  Anyway, if you've read this far you might want a key to this horrible game Rush Brothers GXZJJ-DT3N9-NG25C -- don't thank me, it's terrible... oh well, at least there are cards.

I read all that but I already have Rush Brothers ... what else do you have? =P

Redeemed it. Thanks. Knowing you think it's terrible has moved it up my queue.

Far Cry 1 is a hallmark game - that's for sure. It has nothing to do w/ story and characters - b/c that's something Crytek has always sucked at. Far Cry 1 is a great game b/c it was a FPS w/ much more open environments compared to many other FPS's before it; different ways + paths to take to get to the one-end of the map; especially the brutal difficulty b/c of its brutal AI + brutal placement of checkpoint-save (not often placed; and scattered way apart quite often); and of course back when it came out it was drop-dead gorgeous technically.

The problem with revisiting old games is that the thing that made them revolutionary at the time has become the template upon which all new games are made, and in most cases is severely overused (hello cover-shooting).

FC2 is not bad at all... If you stick to the main quest. I loved that game, but the side missions... I got tired of it because of that, but I should play it again someday. I also loved the background. The game world is great.

Legend of Zelda games come out too infrequently for me to ever feel that way about them. Nintendo averages just shy of two games per hardware unit, ignoring things like Link's Crossbow Training.

Far Cry 1 is awesome!

if anything, play it JUST to hear the enemy taunts.

I was going around shouting "SUCK IT DOWN!" to my friends randomly for MONTHS after playing the game.

...I still do sometimes.

Agreed, but it is a complaint a lot of people have about the series.

Edit: Just finished Condemned: Criminal Origins. fuck that game. I think I probably just don't like Monolith games for some reason...I hated F.E.A.R., as well.

oh yea i got buzzer beatere 3rd quarter pro and it was not count but wnet to review booth it was overturn in nba2k14 fuck yea that was awesome 3 buzzeer beatrs so faar if only the nuggets wass this good in real life tho

nope

i've only played fear and condemned...was basis my "maybe i dont like monolith" thing just off of those two
If you hated NOLF series (1960's spy-themed comedy FPS), then yeah - maybe you don't like Monolith.

So far, you just seem to dislike Monolith's horror-based action-games.

fine

i hate monolith's horror-based action-games

they are the bane of my (rig's) existence
Stylistically, I think NOLF is a MUCH different type of game series than say Blood series; FEAR 1 + 2; and Condemned.

BTW - I highly recommend NOLF series.

Now, for those who missed out on NOLF - if only someone would figure out who the hell has the rights to that series....

Since you're looking for cheat games that you can beat in minutes, you can 'complete' The Graveyard by playing the demo. The only difference is Grandma won't die. That's the only difference in the paid version.

Whee, I can add Shadows: Price For Our Sins to my Five or six in Feb. I loved the atmosphere, liked some of the puzzles, and laughed at the voice acting. 10/10, would backlog again. (But really 5/10 for all games, 7/10 for that kind of game.)

Or you can skip it and check out my screenshots.
