I've had D3 for over 14 months but haven't bothered to play it (broken loot system, and plenty of ARPGs to play). I'd actually been waiting for them to scrap the RMAH (real money auction house) and rebalance the game so you can thrive on your own lewt drops. Note that everything in my post applies to base Diablo 3... so it's like getting almost a whole new game. Now that this patch is live (we've been waiting around a year for it, since the announcement), I'm moving D3 from deep-backlog to my short list (well, ~40 games) of stuff to play. This is more like Diablo 3 should have been. I know a number of us already own D3 (from CAGly or unmentionable purchases)... so it's about getting more out of our purchases.
Yeah. I'm looking over at the D3 box on my shelf and thinking it might be time to install it.

Silver lining: it can be yours for as little as $1, along with three other great games, over at www.humblebundle.com

:whee:
Hmm.... HIB or 100 Prinnies, decisions decisions.

Anyone who has played Walking Dead Season 1 and 2, is there any incentive to own them both on the same system?  Do the saves carry over?  Just asking because the season pass is going on sale on PSN for $10ish this week so I'll go ahead and get it there if there is no incentive.

Your save/decisions from S1 carry over into S2, so you will probably miss out on some stuff if you play on a different platform.

ya know, for someone who hates on consoles, it's weird seeing you make a Disgaea reference :)
PS2 is pure awesome. So many unique exclusives, and able to play all PSX games. I bought my PS2 for all the exclusives.

In the PS3/360 era the consoles cost a whole lot more and there have been far fewer exclusives that have interested me. Most big AAA games have had PC ports. Also PS2 was the last era of console simplicity... shove the disc/cart into the console and play right away... no disk space to manage, no online updates, shit just works.

Edit: Also no one-time codes, online activation, extra DRM... a good portion of my PS2 collection is used, as long as the disc works, you're good.

I'm actually disappointed Fez is included in another Humble Indie Bundle so soon. I believe it was just in September's HIB 9 BTA Tier as well.

Come on Humble Bundle, don't start throwing in repeats. Give us a different Indie title to backlog... you big jerks!

sure but going by the characters present and screen resolution, that screenshot is from Disgaea 4, a PS3 game. YES, SEMANTICS, I KNOW. you probably couldn't find a screen of a prinny army in Disgaea 1 or 2. Anyways, yes ps2 rocked.

Er, how long have you been following Humble?

HiB 2's bonus was HiB 1. All of it. HiB 3's bonus was HiB 2. HiB 4's bonus was HiB 3. They stopped doing the whole previous bundle as a bonus after that, but they've still included at least one game from a previous bundle in most main bundles' bonuses.

On D3:

re: Installing from the box

Y'all know you can take the key from the box and register it to Blizzard's site and just download straight from there. It's probably quicker than installing that musty, moldy disc version that's been updated a bajillion times. Then again, they're so backward that it wouldn't shock me if they had you download the original release and then apply all the patches on top of that anyway.

re: controls

Okay so I'll probably get lynched for this, but seeing as it was ported to consoles any change that optional controller support is being patched into the PC version now?

^_^ Yeah, I think it's from Disgaea 4, I just grabbed the first prinny army screenshot I found... which was sufficient for the prinny joke.

PS3 does have some exclusives I'd like. And I might have bought a PS3 around Black Friday if it wasn't for my massive steam backlog. I still might... but it's looking less likely. Damn you Gaben.

Indeed. Again, I think because they now require BTA up front for the bonuses their incentive to put really eye-popping ones there is now gone. Better to save them for the initial BTA tier of the next bundle.

I feel the same way... so many bundles including so many repeats that I'd almost prefer no bonus over a repeated bonus. :oldman:

I'm not sure, but I'd wager that you'd need to install every incremental patch either way... that's how the WoW patcher used to work (still does?). I installed it over a year ago from disc and run the patcher occasionally, even though I haven't redeemed my D3 key yet, lol.

Either way you do it, set aside some time to install/patch D3 before you actually play it.

I haven't seen any new noise about controller support. Blizz flatly denied it back in December noting how the camera and gameplay is actually different (and balanced different) between consoles and PC.

Other way around imo... because you can't dolla-in on the first week for the bonuses... you have to pay rather more... they need to make the bonuses better.

I think all of Blizzard's stuff runs through a Battle.net launcher/client much like Steam so I'm sure it 'intelligently' downloads the latest updated version.

I'm installing now (from my phone via virtual desktop :p). It installed some Battle.net client or some such first. I don't remember that before. Anyway I just skipped the disc route because that's so last century. Or so European.

This logic doesn't make sense to me. If anything, the bonuses should be more eye popping for them to encourage more people to BTA so they should work on getting better bonuses. Before, everyone got the bonuses for $1 so they really had no incentive to do great ones.

Ah. Well, this I did not know. I've only been following HiB since HiB 6 so pardon the errors of my ways. Thanks for this information.

Hmm, I guess I've just outed myself as not being a HiB veteran. Damn!

Yeah they forced a new Battle.net client very recently (today I think). I did the download-method for WoW (clean) reinstalls (once available) to avoid swapping 8+ discs. Nice set and forget method.

I wonder if they's updated their patch system with the new Battle.net client.

Sorry, I can't help myself...

<points and laughs>

Yeah, I've been buying bundles since the first HIB.... well before I found CAG.

So they went ahead and did it and released Warehouse and Logistics Simulator on Steam and there's a god damned DLC even, Hell's Warehouse. Really?!?
But-but-but... ZOMBIES AND FORKLIFTS!

It is Tuesday and Bundle Stars has a new bundle again.

Bundle Stars Fusion Bundle - 9 Games for $3.49

  • Thunder Wolves
  • The Cat Lady
  • Time Gentlemen Please - Ben There, Dan That
  • AI War Collection
  • Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny
  • Blockland
  • Pressure
  • Luxor Evolved
  • Eryi's Action
I love me some Luxor Evolved! Blockland is also pretty cool. So many repeats...

So in reference to D3 being updated I decided to go back in and get re-acquainted with the game.  Apparently the year or so I took off from playing it my account got hacked and I had to deal with Blizzard CS to get it back.  When I opened D3 up I had a high level Demon Hunter with a lot of epic loot on him.  I had never played the Demon Hunter so that was a surprise.  I'm not sure if whoever hacked my account meant to have that there or if the CS gave me a neat little bonus, but I highly doubt the CS would do something like that.  Either way it was kind of neat to have that character and have no negative financial or other issues come forth with my account hack.

-  Totally unimportant story concluded.

Must be from the other "owner"... Blizz CS are dicks... especially when it comes to restoring accounts.

Nice =) Lucky

Wish I was at hom to grab that Bloody Trapland key, stupid work.
I tried with my phone but that takes so damned long to do with virtual desktop.

It was invalid anyway. I don't think it would've worked.
I thought it said dup product key when I tried. Hmm.

*ETA: Also tried it on Desura for the shits and grins and it said already reged there to Dr. Sqatch.

PSA...

If you have a Battle.net account you should strongly consider using RSA-like two-factor authentication with the Battle.net Authenticator (key-fob or free phone-app).  I know people who've still gotten hacked with one, but every little bit helps.  (And waiting on Blizz account restoration sucks.)  (I use the key-fob myself... simplicity, requires physical-attack, and well my linux-phone wasn't supported.)

Yeah. I mean, HiB 1 was nice, but if you bought it the first time getting it as a bonus in the second week of HiB 2 didn't do much. It certainly wasn't going to be the thing that pushed you over to BTA if you were on the fence.

Indeed. I think that this is a pretty strong set of bonuses, given that two are new to bundles and the other is quite highly regarded and has only been in one other bundle, and that was as a BTA game.

Interesting. I just checked my Desura client for a Steam key and no luck. I redeemed a key I had sitting around for that game and it had the same format, so I thought maybe it would work.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make exactly... back when HIB2 was fresh bundles were still very new on the scene. Steam keys weren't even added until HIB2.

Just pointing out that bonuses that were all-repeat weren't going to drive someone to BTA (if they'd already gotten the previous bundle.) Of course, they were nice for people that were new to Humble entirely.

That's what I thought your point was (but was unsure). However the bundlescene was so different back then... so new, unique and precious... not the great Bundle-Flood of 2014 I heard some guy called Noah is collecting two of every game.

I think, and this is just a guess, that the initial strategy of Humble including past bundles as a bonus was to get the word out about their bundles.  I mean what better way than to have people give out copies of their old bundles to pique interest.

Also, to whoever did hat CD-Key inquiry on my account, I lurked whatever game you were checking fair and square so stop being sore about it!

It's supposed to be abs, but yes, I agree that the shadow at the lower part makes it look like a saggy bag.
Because... most women look like this IRL?
But we don't play games to see real women, have enough of that irl.

Agreed. I missed that time, though. I got in to bundles with Humble V, though I was able to get many of the bundles that predated that by trading.
