New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Holy crap, did I just managed to do a key drop that has gone to actual forum members?

The Motor Rock key giveaway from yesterday appears to be working again.

Boo, I was too late. Anyone have a copy they don't want? Looks like a game I'd actually play (I used to love RC Racers Deluxe: Traxxas Edition).

On the plus side, you were insulted by some dude that made a pixel titty game. Not exactly like a nobel prize winner insulted you.

Moderation is pretty heavy handed on the Steam community forum these days, but generally only if the developer does it or someone complains and calls the mods. Still, I never thought handing the keys to the forum to potentially unstable indie devs was a great idea.

TL;DR - First no, then write to him then after a virtual lynching and his email box getting blown up he's giving them to Groupees (supposedly).
Steam mods are pretty ridiculous. I remember the time they legitimately banned me for a week from that Might & Magic X game's forums for bickering with "OMJ uplay fuk dat" asstards.

"pixel titty game"... The answer seems obvious, my friend.
You kidding? The world needs more titties. Lack of titties in the direct cause of 96.9% of the world's wars.

I dunno.

The guy -does- have talent. I downloaded his game the other day and liked it quite a bit, it's tough but entertaining. It's just his PR skills that need work.
Yeah, it actually does look good, and the premise sounds hilarious.

That's the thing that people need to realize. These aren't companies with PR departments, full of people who have trained to communicate with people properly. These are often one-man teams, full of emotional responses, real human irritation, disappointment, frustration, and inconsistency.

There are pros and cons to this. Pros? A lot of times these are down to earth people who are a pleasure to support and bolster their confidence, grow their portfolio, and watch as they get better and put out better games. And a lot of times the ideas and methods of indie devs result in really unique, interesting games. Cons? You're dealing with the unpredictability of the human nature. When a one-man team gets upset, you see it. You don't see the public face of the company putting on a facade and dealing with things in a politically correct, robotic fashion (hell, even EA sucks at PR). And sometimes you get people who are just assholes (Paranautical Activity, anyone?).

Honestly, I don't mind it. I understand the frustrations and emotionally charged comments that come from indie devs. They're real people, and the words "human" and "drama" are pretty much synonymous. Take it with a grain of salt, focus on the important thing: The game. Don't get pissed off like the dev is the scum of the earth. He's usually just a normal dude who's confused with how things work of having some issues. Get over it, move on.

Granted if Steam keys are ever an issue, bitch until you're blue in the face. I have never seen a dev refuse giving Steam keys after a public bitchfest yet. That's how Greenlight works!

I agree with you guys fighting the good fight to get us the Steam keys that were promised to us through these bundles. Motoki is especially Johnny on the spot whenever those games get released he always seems to be in the community page

However, that post seems especially harsh. The dev already apologized and rectified his mistake. I don't think berating him and telling him no one cares about his game is valuable at all. I realize everyone gets angry when devs try to back out of giving keys (either because they legitimately want to back out, or because they are just truly ignorant about the process), but I don't think this accomplishes anything either, IMO of course.
Maybe you're new here. Mooby and Bruticis just bitch and are negative like 99.9% of the time. Especially harsh is standard fare, there. But it seems like Bruticis is posting a lot lately and people find it funny now, so there's that.

wtf mysterd.

how many times do we have to tell you robots can't cry?

It's a "This Week Only" deal, so it might last through tomorrow, maybe through the weekend.
Pretty lame how they have Enemy Within in the main pic there, yet it has NO sale on it whatsoever. False advertising much?

In any case, I grabbed a DRM free XCOM for a buck after the 20% off code just for the Spec Ops key. Haven't gotten it yet, hopefully it comes...

My impressions of NZA:

The sniping mechanics are enjoyable, since it is copied from Sniper: Elite 2. The story of the first one was SyFy originals quality; i.e. leave your brain at the door. The level design was pretty terrible, IMO. Why have us roaming tiny corridors when it's a game about sniping? With three friends I had a good time, but I would never play it single-player. I believe the co-op was invite oriented, but they may have changed that for the second (although I doubt it...) For the $3, it's a fun evening/weekend but don't expect a lot of replay value.
Eh, there weren't really that many levels with tons of corridors, and it's not just a sniping game. You've got pistols, loads of different automatic short to mid range weapons, and even a shotgun (or two?), as well as all the different mines and traps. The short range sections of the game worked just fine.

Wii wasn't even released until November 2006 (and remember those shortages)...

Besides Nintendo is shutting down multiplayer support for Wii and NDS on May 20 2014. Affected Games.including Mario Cart, Pokemon, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing
Well that sucks. I wonder if people will figure out how to play DPP and BW/BW2 via other methods... I have a couple of them on my Android, dunno if online works.

It depends how many people are around to raise a frackus, which in turns depends on how many people bought the bundle, are actually paying attention and actually care enough about the game to raise a fuss. Plus a lot of people are lazy and want the keys but sit back and let others do the ass ripping.

Also with some of these two-bit Euro publishers they can sneak by by not saying no but instead stalling, making excuses, staying silent etc. Those cases are a lot harder to draw attention to than one where some dev out and out says no. When that happens people rage. When they feign incompetence idiots on the community forum say 'Oh it takes weeks and we don't know how complicated it is and they said they are working on it yadda yadda'.

Holy Avatar is a good example of that right now. And I am getting a bad feeling about Where Angels Cry. Even if the developer or publisher were around and responsive I don't even think there's enough interest in that to get them to give those keys if they try not to. And quite frankly I don't think they even know to do it in the first place.

Euro Truck Sim 1 (from the Indie Gala Sim bundle) is another example where there just wasn't enough people who bought the bundle and cared nor enough bitching. I know I tried and I believe Fox and maybe Spoder did? It just wasn't enough. There's wasn't a level of rage and plus they just ignored us.

"No" always gets 100X more reaction than saying no indirectly by not doing it and not responding or making lame excuses. People are way too gullible when it comes to stall tactics and nonsense excuses.

As there are more and more of these Greenlight games coming in on a daily basis I guarantee some are going to fall through the cracks and not get keys.

But the ones with zombies and titties will always get noticed.

You are the resident expert on Boob Wars.

And I had almost forgotten.
I actually thought of Boob Wars too when he said that.

They had Enemy Within on sale when it originally started, not sure why they removed it. It was for $15 anyway though, so not that great of a deal.

I just completed Dust: An Elysian Tail on Tough difficulty, which gave me the last achievement. I now have all 30. I basically speedran the entire last stage and beat it with Dust being 10 Levels less than my normal playthrough.

Woohoo. Or something.

I think Bruticis is like Mooby if Mooby's wife had left him, his dog had gotten run over by a truck, and his Mom kicked him in the balls and disowned him. Sort of like this:

I'm holding out hope for When Angels Cry, but you're right, I doubt enough people actually give a rat's ass about that game for the dev to notice.

Missed chicken chain discussion as a result.

Zero regrets.
Dick. Everyone was supposed to participate and say which grease-laden, semi-spicy chicken breasts deserve to be known as the all-time best dead poultry you'll ever eat.

In that case my local grocery deli counter. It's heart stoppingly delicious.

Bruticis' posts seem to have a slightly different tone than they used to, which has gone from making the posts seem completely nasty to now actually making me chuckle on a consistent basis. Either that or I've completely acclimated to him over time. He posted something the other day that made me spit my tea back into my mug laughing as I read it that morning. It's actually kind of funny seeing as my first interaction with him I called him a douche and he put me on his ignore list.

I try a little, but for me it's a real fine line between getting upset and domestic terrorism (as the prosecutor calls it).

Surprise, RE4 works... but everything appears to not run at the intended 60 FPS. The result is slightly slower game speed and cutscene audio going out of sync.

Even so, it looks PRETTY DAMN GOOD. My CPU must not be able to handle the 60 FPS speed. I'll try it out later with 30 FPS and see how that goes.

Edit:

And I can't turn on subtitles for some reason. That's pretty strange.

I'm sad that RE4 is finally unlocked now. It was amusing reading all your madman posts about it.

Well, he didn't used to post much if at all. At least not in PC threads. He'd pop in once in a very great while and just post one negative remark about something, before fading back to whence he came. Because of that, he was kind of just annoying and his posts were pointless. Nowadays he's actually posting a lot for some reason, so while his general negative tone hasn't changed a whole lot, I think he's become a funny piece of forum furniture now that he posts more often.

My last two encounters with him, he disagreed with something I said (not even to him) so he just insulted me a couple times before blocking me, completely unprovoked. He's just an asshole and thrives on internet anonymity, but assholes can be funny too.

Here's something neat: The game folder actually has leftover debug content. Right there. Out in the open. And there's even leftover files from the Wii version. What the HELL, Capcom.

(Messing with games is kind of my hobby. If that wasn't apparent from my name...)

Just wanted to make sure you saw (what appears to be) a dev comment in the Where Angels Cry forum:

"hi guys, we have contacted indie royal and told them that the game is now live on Steam, so we hope they will send you keys very soon!"

...although the wording of that makes me wonder if they realize they have to provide keys for IR to distribute.

Surely they can't be that clueless....
