This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Curious about the sales coming up in just over 24 hours. If they suck, I might grab Just Cause 2. I already played JC2 on PS3 for a dozen or so hours, got a bit boring after a bit, but I'm considering the double dip... not even sure why, good price I guess? Also, Deus Ex... I had that on PS3 from a sale for around one and a half years now, and never played it. Again, I am considering getting it for X360 because it's a good price, plus I prefer X360 over PS3 (the controller, especially).

Backlog. Don't try this at home.
I'm also curious about the next sale, I just bought Deus ex and State of Decay (loving both of them) but on the fence about Just Cause 2. I'd love to know wether I should pull the trigger on JC2 or wait...or even grab Dungeon Siege 3 instead.

If you want "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine - Pt 1" by James Brown in Rock Band, better get it now - recently announced that it'll get pulled at the end of May.

Get Just Cause 2 if you love being creative and having fun in open-world games. The missions (side-missions, especially) are repetitive and can often be a bore, but you have a grapple hook, a parachute, tons of stuff to blow up, and overall a lot of possibilities. It's a game that is far from perfect (miles and miles of empty areas, not so sharp gameplay, etc.), but if you are willing to have fun by bending the game's rules and try out what you can do, you'll have plenty of fun. If you want a great storyline or a memorable gameplay in missions, feel free to skip.

Get Dungeon Siege 3 if you want a good (top-view) action RPG that isn't overly hardcore. No complicated forging. No lockpicking. No messing with all kinds of potions. No insane difficulty. It's just a fun and enjoyable RPG with a pretty solid storyline, and enjoyable gameplay with very varied locations to visit, many different enemies to kill, lots of loot to find. It ain't no Diablo 3 or Torchlight: the character customization is basically non-existent, you can't really deviate much from a class' abilities and there really isn't much you already couldn't have seen in similar games... but it's a fun and fairly easy action RPG that also has co-op, is not overly long or anything, and doesn't really have any particular flaw that should block you from playing it if you're into said genre. I bought it on this sale myself and I am enjoying it, it's not Diablo 3 or Kingdoms Of Amalur quality (the game shares more similarities with this one than one would expect), but it's enjoyable and interesting, plus never frustrating, which is also a plus.

If you're contemplating the quality of the sales themselves... Just Cause 2 has already been on sale below 10$, and generally goes on discount fairly often. Dungeon Siege 3 saw few sales, and it never dropped below 10$, so 5$ is a surprisingly good deal. Both games can give you dozens of hours of fun if you like what you see, so if you're not short on money, both are worth the price. I'd suggest Dungeon Siege 3 a bit more based on my experience (and on the sale percentage itself), but again, it depends on your tastes.

Seems pretty random when I get charged tax. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Maybe laws in Illinois are changing every time I buy something.

@baboy Thanks for the detailed info. I've got $5 left in my xbl funds, so I am kind of limited. JC2 will wait I think. The lack of player customization kind of kills DS3 for me, I love loot fests, but love the rpg character customization aspects just as much. Already have Torchlight, and Amalur on my ps3 waiting for me to get into it, so may pass on DS3 as well. Not a fan of short games either, so that comes in to account as well. The longer the game/replayability the better.

I've been playing more Child of Light and am really enjoying it. It's an extremely simple game/turn based RPG, but great for when I'm winding down the night. Though after I picked up a tank of a character in this new area all the enemies are tanks themselves lol. It's starting to get more challenging. This dragon fight took awhile and I was using potions like crazy when I never used them before. I had to take a break after.

I've been watching people play Super Time Force on Twitch and that looks really fun too. I'm so tempted to pick it up. Must resist. I feel like every early digital title will be added to GWG on XB1 with the tiny library.

I see some people have posted clips of Wolfenstein. It looks pretty cool. So much temptation. Lord, help me!

Thanks for looking out. Now to see if I have it or not.

Kinda figured with it being 60 episodes total. I'm on season two right now and all the politics and names, I got to say it's alot more to remember than Game of Thrones.

Remember that time when a good friend set you up on a blind date? You were all excited, before seeing the date, then when you did the date turned out ugly. You figure with those looks, there has to be lots of personality to make up for it, so you try your best to goad the date into some fun anecdote, but get nothing. At this point you start to even dislike your good friend for even setting you up. So your best conclusion was to continually drink it away, but instead of improving the date, it just gets uglier. Knocked out afterwards, and not remembering much aside from lights. You later wake up, naked, and in an unfamiliar setting not remembering much but feel all used and deceived. You confront your friend, and the friend reassures you in the near future things are going to be better, reminds you of the old fling your friend introduced you to and how great it was. Then you forget about the blind date and all that was on your mind was the old fling. You deliberate with all your other friends about the old fling: "oh, why do that to yourself again?", "it was great!", "no, it wasn't!", "why did you ever part ways?", etc. Then you thank the friend for the great news and really anticipate the next blind date. All was forgiven. Remember that time? No? I don't either. Yet we all don't mind the excitement in our lives.

I didn't get much from the recent zombie sale. I did opt to get the Mass Effect and Skyrim mash-up packs on a paltry discount of 25%, just because I've not seen Minecraft DLC on discount often enough on the 360. I'm still deciding on How to Survive and Dungeon Siege 3. However I am happy to add a digital copy of Saints Row: The Third to my account, it could encourage me to break out my created character, Jailbait (named because it is an open world crime game, why else?), for some sillyness with friends that did not have the game before. I'm waiting on that last window between this week's deal and next week's deal to make my decision. Which I hope and predict ...

My NBA2k14 player got robbed for his shiny new jewelry. Time for another jewelry sale!
No! What manner of spiked heel would do such a thing to everyone's favorite Texan?! You bastards, you will pay for wronging Tony Romo!

Try the demo. It's a love or hate game, because the gameplay is not the sharpest, the graphics are meh, and it's glitched, even after the many patches. However it's a very ambitious game with much to do and that is also rather unpredictable, that will last you dozens of hours likely and is a lot of fun. It is worth 10 bucks surely, it's just a matter of fact of whether you can look past the not so sharp gameplay or not. Different genres, but not unlike The Walking Dead by Telltale: it's amazing, if you can close an eye on the technicalities.
Heh, that's what I said about Earth Defense Force 2017. Using the old school review/rating system, where games are judged on various categories, EDF 2017 would fail at practically all categories. Graphics are abysmal, story has no complexity, voice and sound are pretty bad with the bad dubbing of cheap localizations, control is nowhere near ideal, remember how it was a misnomer where it was also judged on challenge it would at least get some in this category, yet fun factor would be through the roof for me. That fun factor, is the main reason I still like Earth Defense Force 2017, and I recently got Earth Defense Force 2025. I am now hoping its DLC gets a discount. Along with other D3 Publisher titles' DLC, since I missed the last time Onechanbara DLC got the discount (didn't think I would have the game at that time). So that's what I am hoping for this coming Tuesday since I've not seen their games up for sale in a while. Don't disappoint me now. [EDIT: as for State of Decay, it at least seems to have a higher concept to start ^^]

Big Halo 5 Announcement!

hero_halo5.jpg

http://news.xbox.com/2014/05/games-halo-journey-announcement
That does appear to be a big announcement. The spartan on top appears to have a reflection of Master Chief below, however the visor is tinted blue. Maybe Windows Phone is in there making out with Chief finally and getting all rampant in there. The silhouette is rather slim with hips the width of the shoulders, so maybe this is really progressive of 343 to hint that Master Chief will be the 2nd transgender video game character I can think of for their upcoming game (Birdo's still the same right?). That is major news, quite dramatic and bold in narrative to see how this unfolds! As for the 1st, Poison, will be a character in a fighting game I'm looking forward to amongst all the fighting games I want. I was psyched when I learned that Persona 4 Ultimax will be released on the 360 in the US, so I really do hope this time around Arcana Heart 3: Love Max actually comes to the 360 in the US instead of being something that Euro 360 owners get to enjoy with the earlier edition. I do not know what preorder bonuses there are for P4U, but I saw that the first release preorder editions of Ultra Street Fighter 4 will have a bonus Arrange Costume DLC which now I know I will have to wait on more DLC to get discounted (since I intend on waiting for the disc version of USF4 to be cheaper than the launch price). I just may not hold out on P4U though. I'm getting hyped. There's much to look forward to on the 360, preorders for Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst should finally ship at the end of this month after all the delays.

Or maybe I am going rampant with my ramblings. Here's to tomorrow night, deals are coming. I look forward to once again having the titles on Games with Gold already, but don't mind a digital edition. Wishing our favorite 7th generation console keeps setting us up with interesting dates for stories.

I like the Halo story as well but I will agree that starting in 3 it went off the rails.  4 had a decent story but it wasnt implemented well and required way too much of the novels/terminals to really follow it.  I actually never finished Reach's campaign either, found it really dull.

I liked halo 4 cause cortana was prettier in it than in the other ones.

Personally, I didn't care for 4. The Prometians made gameplay unfun for me. Between the packs of the "dogs" and the flying enemies, it was like playing Borderlands with an arm tied behind your back. Scrap that storyline, and go back to Covenant. But, given the name is "Gaurdians", and is likely centered around the Forerunners, I'm guessing it's going to be more of the same.

You shallow sonuva bitch.
In fairness, they did say prettier, not bustier. So at least they were keeping eye contact, which is worth something.

But they could also be introducing more enemies, and these enemies could be more fun to play against. I didn't enjoy the Promethean enemies because they felt like hybrids, and not like what we were told they would be.

I really expected to be overwhelmed by crawlers, with them coming around surfaces and really making no cover safe. I also thought the Knights really weren't difficult enough. The teleport ability wasn't used well, and sometimes they'd teleport into the exact spot they teleported from.

For anyone in canada: I went to futureshop today to grab a couple of things and I noticed that the PS4 is in stock, but what shocked me the most was that the price is $449 in Canada.

Are they still hard to find there? And yeah, the price went up $50 in March for I'm guessing demand/supply reasons, though it definitely feels a little shady. The Canadian dollar is getting weaker though too, right?

Ha, that was literally my first thought when I saw crawlers in the game haha I was like this is Skag Valley all over again! The Prometheans were a disappointing enemy for sure I will agree. I prefer the Human vs Covenant story as well.

Dat last mission dough

Update on Games with Gold: Someone on GAF mentioned that they're able to purchase the free Xbox Fitness even though they don't own an Xbox One. So i'm assuming you guys without the console can do that when we start getting our free games.

The Playstation 4 price increase in Canada is totally due to that country's declining dollar.

Yeah. Reach's last mission was new. Don't recall anyone ever going that before. Was so awesome. Jaw dropper for sure.
Hahaha played that mission with a friend on his co-op playthrough and at the end
when all my friends and I died he was like oh come on and started the mission over again. We were all cracking up, he thought we had failed the mission. Yeah dude, nope, that's what goes down.

roflcopter

When that one word pops up (can't drop spoiler tags using this app) at the beginning of the mission, I thought, "Shits about to get real." lol

The whole thing was awesome. While I loved the game, and others don't, the final mission mad the journey even more worthwhile.

Hell yes. I've debated the XB1 purchase since the GWG and price drops were announced. This helps me not rush into a panic purchase.

Pre-monday Pre-weekly sales monday night Hype!!! This week i went a little overboard, I ended up with:

Plant vs Zombies.

State of Decay.

Zombie Driver HD.

Quantum Conundrum.

How to survive.

Tried Zombie Apocalypse, but i felt like a worse and cheaper version of Spartan Assault with Zombies. So guess i'm passing. Wishing some crappy sales to save my wallet.... who am i kidding, mah body is ready!!

Thanks for the heads-up, just tried it and it's true. Now to begin building a backlog for a console I don't own. Go!

Question: Are the Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles still playable after your subscription lapses? I doubt they could do anything about it with past titles, but I'm curious about whether or not I'll be able to permanently own Street Fighter IV after I let my Gold account expire.

Yes, you can play them. As long as you had a valid Gold membership (not a promotional one, therefore at least a 1-month one) when the free game came to be, you can grab the games and keep them. Now is a great time to go Gold for those that don't have it, since the next 30 days will have 4 free games on X360 and 2 on X1 (counting the fact Saints Row 3 is still available).

Yup we ain't no PS3 poverty over here.

If Xbox Fitness has achievements, that might be something that might to move around.

STF Super Hardcore mode isn't as hard as I thought it would be. It is actually more fun than normal mode! The only thing I won't be doing is unlocking all the lookers. One was hard enough.

I decided to buy PvZ:GW a couple of days ago and I am having serious problems of lag, stuttering and rubberbanding in the 99% of the games I've played, no matter which type of match it is. Am I the only one having this issues? Because I am deeply disappointed and certainly feeling like I wasted my money.

There's been days where that's happened to me, but not all the time. Is it your net? Also, I'm on X1.

Xbox Fitness does have Achievements.

Man, I want to hurry up and play more Super Time Force but I've been hella busy. Glad to hear that Hardcore mode is fun.

I thought it might be that at first, it seems like the most logic explanation specially considering that I don't precisely have the best connection, but then I tried to play online with some other games (shooters, racing games... almost any kind) and I had no problem at all, so I have discarded that. It's funny because when I respawn in an area where there's no other players the game works just fine, but as soon as I approach to a certain part of the map where there's some action I start experiencing these issues. Kind of strange and very frustrating.

I'll wait to see if it's just temporal, I suppose this week there has been a lot of new players because of the sale on the game (I forgot to mention, I'm playing it in X360), although it shouldn't be an excuse and I don't think that there's such an overload of players, the servers should work fine.

It only happened to me 2 or 3 times in almost like a hundred hours I spent on that game, and my connection is pretty bad. It's either your connection or some temporary server issues.
