This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So it looks like they have a free mode for Powerstar Golf, essentially trying out the KI model on it. GOOD, considering that developer previously only did Zumba games I was pleasantly surprised at how good and fun PG is to play. It also looks really nice and the Rivals mode reminds me of the cool social feature that came out of Tiger Woods golf games, yet it's taken farther with a recorded session with your friends instead of just a marker in the fairway.

Also down for Minecraft upgrade! OMG that is awesome.

Gah stupid phone autocorrect.

Seriously, guys, what is going on? No more Kinect? Cheaper console? External HDD support with no size limit? Free games? Crazy discounts? Tons of announcements?

IT'S NOT EVEN E3
I get the feeling they will re introduce something bad (like disc drm, always online ) at E3 just to offset all this good news.

Well, it's already green. They might as well go all the way and call it XxBox420xX to appeal to the Call of Duty demographic.
Next console: xXx_SniperKiller69Box_xXx

Here's what I want to see at E3:

Shouldn't that system name have more capitalized letters, or even numbers subbing for letters.

Xbox Executive: We call it the P1@y$+@+i0N. Some jerk took the name, so we found a way around it!

If Microsoft and Harmonix unveil Dance Central 4 for this year for the XBox One, I will buy that system and that dumb camera. Backlog be damned. YOU HEAR THAT MICROSOFT?!  I'M THAT GUY!

Any word if Minecraft for the Xbox One is an upgrade? I mean anything new added to the One version?
Content wise I don't recall them talking about it really. The limited screen shots show a noticeably farther draw distance though and as mentioned the worlds should be bigger (but not as big as PC).

Metro 3033 and Last Light headed for PS4, Xbox One and PC for $25, Redux is both games & DLC for $50. Not bad considering I never got to my shrink wrapped copy of Metro 2033 lol. Read about it here: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/metro-2033-and-metro-last-light-coming-to-xbox-one-ps4-and-pc-for-25-each/1100-6419809/
My first reaction to this was meh since they're kind of old but then realized that even 2033 is still pretty decent looking on PC with everything turned up. Hopefully this means that they're going to be PC ports with a lot more of the effects enabled. $50 is still way too much in my opinion but when they're like $10 I'll grab the package.

Microsoft's fatal error was having their big console reveal before E3. If they hadn't done that, Sony probably would have gone forward with its own DRM plans. Whatever, it's a year later and nobody cares. We just want better games for better prices now.

Actually, PC is getting Metro Redux too.

They're literally charging $12.50 per game for a patch. It's a joke, and a lot of PC people are pissed about it.

Well I don't know why you would buy it on PC if you already have them anyway. Can't imagine they'll be any better looking than the current versions on PC.

Any word if Minecraft for the Xbox One is an upgrade? I mean anything new added to the One version?

  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be released on Xbox Live Marketplace in August. It brings significantly bigger worlds and a greater draw distance than Xbox 360 Edition.
  • It will include all the features from the most recent Xbox 360 title update.
  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will cost $19.99.
  • If you’ve bought Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from Xbox Live Marketplace, or played online with the disc version, you will be able to upgrade to Xbox One Edition for $4.99.
  • You will be able to upgrade for a minimum of a year after the release date.
  • Players with Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saves will be able to import their worlds to Xbox One. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to transfer saves from Xbox One to Xbox 360. We can make worlds bigger without too much stress, but shrinking them causes all kinds of problems.
  • Cross platform play will not be possible between Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
  • Many, but not all, of the DLC skins and texture packs you’ve purchased for Xbox 360 Edition will be available for use in Xbox One Edition. We’d like to say all your DLC would transfer, but some of the items are trapped in licensing deals that are too boring to get into here. We’ll have more on this soon.

HAhaha, the whole reason Microsoft had their Xbox One console reveal was because Sony had there's earlier in 2013.

Mmmm, yeah PC Metro users got the raw end of the stick on that one. I wouldn't assume they'd be too happy about it but for the PC player's defense those same PC players have been enjoying the fidelity of the games already.

They just invited all the media and said you're invited for the future, with everyone going ooh PS4, yet yeah the system wasn't present until E3. It was ultimately an arms race between Sony and Microsoft starting early in 2013.
Right, the now classic "announce of an announcement" 8-[ It's funny how PR wars have developed between these two companies. It's an amusing circus. :whee: Also, for better or for worse, Microsoft has proved to be really unpredictible, as some of you think these pre-E3 news means something huge and good is going to be unveiled at the event, others think this is all they have up the sleeve and others guess this is to lubricate your arses for the big comeback of DRM or some shit. Place your bets!

Have any developers or publishers cancelled a 360 / PS3 game to focus on an XB1 / PS4 version by announcing they're taking their talents to the next gen?

Do you mean recently?

edit: btw next gen games look amazing even being the first batch of the generation. I almost feel remorse for not wanting another console T_T

No. But I gotta give credit to Rocksteady for having the balls to go next gen only.
It's a gutsy move. I'm not sure what the budget for the game is but clearly no matter how you spin this it means that there will likely be less sales for this game than the last one. I suppose considering that it's had 3 prequels that a lot of the assets will be the same, just up-rezzed, so that would save them some time and money but other than PC sales I can't imagine this will fair well for current-gen console sales and do anywhere near as well as what Arkham City did on consoles. Supposedly Arkham Origins sold about 1/2 as well as Arkham City did. But I guess WB is likely thinking about auxiliary sales as well as they outright own the character and can make money on the game and Arkham series through other means.

I do wonder if this is really the end of the Arkham series or not. Perhaps moving forward WB's plan is to focus on games that tie-in to their DC movies universe. Considering that this has been the only critically and commercially successful superhero videogame series practically ever I'd be hard pressed to believe that we won't see some continuation of it, but who knows.

It marks the end of Rocksteady's Arkham games. Origins sold half as well cause it was a different dev.

Honestly, if I didn't already own an X1, I'd buy it just for Arkham Knight. The Arkham games have not only been the best comic book games ever, but among the best games ever made. (IMO, obviously)

It'll be sad to see Rocksteady no longer make Batman, but I'm sure whatever they do after, will be great.

Yeah there was a reason why Batman: Arkham Asylum won so many best super hero games, then Rocksteady upped it with City so I'm really looking forward to Arkham Knight. I think it's pretty much a "system seller", banking heavily off of doing a series right. Origins, ha, we do not speak about Origins.

Arkham City would've won GotY if it wasn't for Skyrim. Which, now that I think about it, AC was better. I see Rocksteady upping it even further with Knight.

Will be my GotY. I can already tell, lol.

I think you're right that was the issue. Which makes it even more funny that it's PS4 vs. XB1 now.
Well we all know being #1 makes you a winner and everyone else a loser ;-)

That Minecraft news is exciting. Looks like I'll be upgrading thanks to my friend gifting me a free copy previously :)

The official Metro Redux news is cool too and I'll probably pick it up whenever it hits the bargain bin. I like that they added the option to modify each game like the other. It doesn't sound like some lazy port.

From Joystiq:
4A's vision hasn't been consistent between Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, the latter of which benefited from more robust shooting, more viable options for stealth and a greater level of polish overall. Those mechanical improvements - even the ability to wipe your visor clean – are now present in the "Redux" version of Metro 2033. The game's lighting has been overhauled and its cutscenes have been remade in the first-person perspective to match Last Light's unwavering style.

Fans that prefer Metro 2033 to be preserved with a few warts will be interested in how the first and second games cross over in their Redux forms. Each game can be played in the style of the other, with the "Survival" mode bringing a slower pace and more challenging resource management to Last Light, whereas the "Spartan" mode brings Metro 2033's shooting and scavenging up to speed with Last Light. The hardcore "Ranger" mode is available right from the start in either game, as is all add-on content released to date.

HAhaha, the whole reason Microsoft had their Xbox One console reveal was because Sony had there's earlier in 2013.
If you can call what Sony did a reveal. They withheld all the specs while Microsoft prematurely blew its load. Gave Sony the upper hand heading into E3, since they had said nothing about DRM previously. They managed to change their stance to please the public. MS played right into Sony's hands.

That's great news. I worry about all these next-gen ports being lazy re-skins. This kind of commitment is important to keep other studios from getting lazy with their adaptations.

So I redeemed a Trials Fusion season pass code on Xbox.com

Where do I find it on the XBO store?  It's acting like it's going to charge me when I click "purchase" on the XBO

Wow, glad you posted that because I would never have realized it wasn't installed and just assumed it wasn't out yet or something. Dumb set up right there. Also weird that it seems like it will let me buy it again even though it's tied to my account.

Has some of the DLC come out yet?

Sony did that a lot, witheld information from their customers (oh yeah we've been hacked, oh we stored everyone's passwords non encrypted). Why have a big reveal and only show a controller, everyone was disappointed then. Rumor was it was too early for them to show it as they were still working on the console or yes you could say they didn't want to show it -but come on announcing a PS4 event and not announcing the actual PS4 system is sneaky. Think it was like the day before the PS4 launched when Sony's DRM fine print hit the web. The same stuff that everyone was talking about Microsoft's DRM. I don't know about you but I'd rather have a straight forwarde rash response than a covertly shadowy one.

Yeah it was said that Sony was going to launch at 499 with their camera and then changed so Microsoft's reveal hurt them doubly there. It was nice that they showed you know the actual system though. Just my 2 cents.

No. Nothing yet. You get a suit and maybe a bike right now.

In regards to the news about Metro Redux, does anyone else have the problem I have with backlogs where you realize you haven't yet played Metro 2033 to completion but do own it and are now confused as to play it to completion now or to wait until you get a new system and a high quality version? Sigh, the problems of being a first-world citizen . . .

I've run into this, but usually I just say screw it and play at least part of the version I own to see if I like it enough to bother rebuying it.

In the case of 2033 one of the biggest issues I had with it was terrible enemy AI, which is supposed to be one of the fixes in the new version. Should be something that's patched in, but at least they are (presumably) improving it some way or another. If you aren't dying to play it and Metro is something you're interested enough in that you'd prefer the better experience, I'd wait, though honestly I doubt the improvements are going to be worth buying it again (going on the developers history).

EDIT: sounds like you've actually played some already, so I'd just go ahead and finish it if you are already a way in. Most likely by the time you buy a next gen console you'll have had enough time between finishing it that if it's something you want to replay it won't be a complete drag to do so.

EDIT 2: I might have misinterpreted your question to mean asking for advice on Metro, when you were just wondering if people shared your trouble deciding whether to play the version they own or the "better" version being released. If so disregard all this and just read my first sentence...this probably doesn't work so well put at the bottom of my post...

I just thought it was boring as bowls. It was a struggle to finish it. I'd think that the new version will be more fun because you'll be able to record silly moments easier.

You must not have paid attention to the February 20 reveal since they announced specs, features, games, and the controller. The specs and philosophy behind the architectural design was primarily what Mark Cerny's role was in the reveal. The only thing they didn't show was the box.

And that's what I get for not researching what I vaguely remembered. You win this round, Tanuki!

I remember hearing that about their DRM policy as well. Rumour was they changed the E3 presentation after seeing Xbox's DRM reception to avoid mentioning their own DRM and quietly remove it before the console launched.

They didn't have a DRM policy until a few weeks before E3 when they saw the NO DRM campaign that reconfirmed their plan to keep going that route. I'm not sure where you guys are getting the "they removed the DRM before the launch" thing from.

Well I don't know why you would buy it on PC if you already have them anyway. Can't imagine they'll be any better looking than the current versions on PC.
Redux will feature a lot of fixes/stuff not present in the original versions. It's all stuff that should be included as a patch, but won't. The big one is enemy AI improvements, which the original game sorely needs. It's annoying.

I think it has more content.
That too.

They're getting it from rumours that are probably true, as Sony is a huge supporter of the RIAA and MPAA (as Sony has music and movie divisions) who are fervently pro-DRM.

It's not surprising in the slightest to think Sony had similar plans for DRM for PS4, but let MS take the bullet first (just like they scrapped the rumoured PS4 + PSEye for $500 bundle). They've always been wizards in terms of PR/marketing, while MS has been falling over itself in that department for quite some time.

Maybe or maybe not. All I remember is hearing some of that.

Many other sites also reported the same thing. Apparently they were also planning to ship with the PS Eye at $500 but changed their plans after Xbox's E3.

Your first link is exactly what I said, so I'll say that we agree on that.

Adam Boyes was on Giant Bomb's E3 livestream talking about how they saw the tweets and all that about the No DRM campaign that helped reaffirm what their plans were already going to be. The only place that the "they were going to do DRM because of Microsoft" thing came from was the media because everybody loudly proclaimed that before having to either try to change what they said or eat some crow.

Boy you got that right.

First question is: how long will Redux take to get to the price you want it to be before you purchase it?

Second: Why did you stop playing the game or how far did you get into it?

Answer those questions & it may help you come up with a better answer on whether you should get it or not.

Personally I loved the story of Metro 2033 & I own a copy on 360 & PC. Ive played maybe a third of the game, but gameplay is what drug it down for me. I tried forced myself to move on to continue the story, even now I tell myself "lets play more metro". Still I never do, because of that gameplay. I would love to have a copy of last light, but because of how I feel about Metro; I always pass.

Its one of the few games where Id rather read the book or watch a movie based on it than play the game. Graphically I dont know how they could up it. I mean most of the interior was dark, so no need for much detail. The outside was too linear & I basically remember trying to stay out of it due to the radiation; so no time for sightseeing. As for improved AI, I must suck at FPS because no matter how I played Id die. Shooting out all the lights so no one can see anything, yet the enemies found me no problem, wtf. I dont even remember much of the DLC, it was increased difficulty modes right? I had a hard time with the regular mode. Yeah Im just gonna go find the book.
