I didn't even try, by the time I got near Sanctuary it was already too late (think it took me 6 hours, but only played a bit sunday (or was it saturday? so no chance making it).
Yep, I actually did have about 2 and 1/2 hours to try. I boared through, but didn't even make it to sanctuary. Running through Banner Sage atm. Slow going and has taken up way to much time so far.

Madjoki, heads up - one of the BL2 achievements listed on your site is showing as X Marks the Spot when, in fact, it's Treasure Hunter. I spent quite a while hunting for that achievement, thinking it may have been hidden. It seems as if it's reading the mouse-over description as the achievement name.

I think I'm going to try the Endless Space achievements, which should be funny since I have no idea whatsoever how to play it.

Turns out the Pinball FX2 Deadpool achievements are fairly tough.

There also seem to be quite a few for Shogun 2 -- some of those have to be fairly easy. I'm going to try those as well.

So, for whatever reason I forced myself to get all the Banner Saga rewards.  If I had to do it again I wouldn't  None of them are unlockable until you hit the last fourth of the game.  I'd give a few tips, but I doubt there's enough time left to unlock anything at this point.

Thanks. I'm still in the first half of the game and wasnt sure if I should give up. I rather finish the rest at a leisurely pace if its all at the end.

I managed to get two of the Endless Space achievements in about 5 hours. The game is really addictive, so I had fun doing it. The only tough one is (.50) A Fistful of Dust which, apparently, is somewhat random.

I haven't played many space sims and I had no idea what to expect going in, but I'm pretty happy that I played it and stuck with it through the tutorial.

Man those chapter 5/6 levels in Battleblock were tough. Finally got Jail Breaker after my 55th guy, I think because I had a bonus head from also having Castle Crashers it took that many.

Now I have no more rewards to earn for the time being. Guess I'll play some Hawken or *gasp* non-Steam games!

Also fuck it's hot here.

Glad my post was helpful.

Any feedback on the Borderlands 2 DLC achievements? I was planning on skipping them because I figured they'd be to time consuming. Are any of them easy/short to complete?

Also, changes upcoming to the amounts and types of rewards earned: http://blog.playfire.com/2014/07/wednesdays-rewards-02072014.html

We've been doing a lot of analysis lately into the Playfire Rewards BETA and we're really happy to say it's been going down a treat. Having said that, as a business, we need to make a few tweaks to which games get rewards and how much. As many of you know, we offer rewards against games that aren't available on GMG as we think it's a great way of getting you guys to try new games and introduce you to the world of Green Man Gaming.

That said, from today you're going to see us tinkering with values of those rewards and the number of rewards that are available, especially if it's a really cheap game. Generally speaking, there will be less rewards to earn on games we don't sell. Conversely though, you may see more rewards on games that are available on GMG, and more opportunities to earn cool rewards thanks to the close relationships we have with publishers and developers. Which brings me on to where we want to take the Playfire Rewards BETA next...

Giving GMG Credit as a reward was only ever step one. While we tinker with the values we still want to offer you variety. This is why our next step will be integrating the ability for you to earn codes - whether they're for GMG or our partners - via the Playfire Rewards BETA. We've already got some great opportunities lined up (currently hush-hush!) that we think you're going to love. The possibilities this will create are endless, imagine for example playing one game and unlocking something special from the same publisher … or getting great discounts on merchandise for that game … or exclusive access to betas.   We’re not there yet, but you can see the world of possibilities!

While the notion of us experimenting with reward values during a BETA won't come as a surprise, we know many of you are interested in other developments. Our mission over the last few months has been to increase the performance of Steam tracking. It'd be an understatement to say that it's been a technically challenging task that's taken our best minds to solve. While, like me, you'd think it shouldn't be too hard, there's some real black box wizardry going on to track what's quickly become over 220,000+ global accounts every day - not a bad size for a BETA!  We've got some great ideas to improve this for you and support the thousands of people that join every week. One of the important code updates was deployed just before the weekend and hopefully you've noticed that it has resulted in everyone's accounts updating more often - several times a day in the best cases. We'll be monitoring this closely over the next few weeks

There are a tonne of other features that we're working on too. A dynamic rewards page so you don't have to visit the blog every day. A rewards feed for developers, which this week we've started sharing with members of the community who have been developing their own apps and tools - you guys build some really cool stuff. And now we also have the ability to resolve complex account linking issues - so get in touch with Customer Support if that's still an issue for you.

That's a very condensed version of where we're currently at with the BETA and while a 'Letters from the Engine Room' might be a better platform to talk about what else is going on, we thought it was important to tell you about some of the changes going on at Playfire HQ. As always your thoughts and feedback has been really helpful. We'll try and answer as many of your questions in the comments below.

I can't say I'm surprised that they are making some changes, thar be many pirates in these parts.  I can't wait to get my beta access and 0.01 rewards.

I'd like to see them make a more concentrated effort to recruit a lot of these games rather than neutering rewards. Especially smaller titles, where they've been slacking lately.

Other than Play for the First Time, they all require you play through the entirety of 3 DLC: Scarlett, Tiny TIna, and Sir Hammerlock. A couple of hours each, with Tiny Tina possibly being three or more hours.

There's an indication of a change there ...

  • Magicians & Looters - play for the first time - £0.10
  • Magicians & Looters - unlock Pancakes! - £0.10
  • Magicians & Looters - unlock Potato Salad - £0.20
Those would usually be £0.10, £0.25, £0.50

Nah, play for the first time is always .10. The main change is from 3 achievement rewards to 2, and the lowering of the reward price.

The change is basically "We're losing way too much money". Was funny because I was wondering yesterday what would happen if GMG was in danger of going under.

If they're going to offer a lot less rewards for games, I'd rather them just scrap Playfire and go back to allowing coupons with credit.

Oh yeah, silly me. It's early.

Can someone give me an idea how we can call Bobby? My english is very poor, don't know... The Famous Wooden Leg Farmer?

Mm... The New Yorker Latin Farmer King? or just Bobby Third Leg?

Last edited by a moderator:
Probably the former, as a real-time video of me waiting three weeks to hear back from support probably wouldn't finish uploading in time.

They're update system has improved though, atleast for me.

I agree with Bobby. You should be able to use your credit in conjunction with a code. If they must, put some type of limit on how much you can use per purchase.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't have free time to try for any of them, which I'm pretty happy about.

If anyone plans on actually playing it, I don't recommend it. The Pancakes achievement is easy enough to achieve, but it'll take you maybe 1.5-2 hours to get to the Labyrinth to get the achievement.

The game itself sucks, just about everything in it is bad. First of all, the game has no widescreen support and you can't change the resolution, so you'll be stuck playing in 4:3. The enemies have no collision, so dodging is pointless when all you need to do is walk through enemies to avoid getting hit.

Being able to choose 3 characters may seem like an interesting concept at first, but when you need to use certain characters to access different areas it can be annoying. You have to go back to the "camp" to change your character, it would've made more sense to let you change your character on the fly. The combat for the characters doesn't seem to have much variety. The character I use depends on which area I need to get to.

The art style and animations are very dull, you could probably find flash/freeware games with the same quality. The story is crap and the dialogue is so bad that it's laughable. This is the worst metroidvania game I've played, stay away.

False. You can get it around 15-20 minutes in.

There's a portcullis-style door on a timer and you can kill yourself there. It's before you compulsorily switch characters for the first time, I think.

Game isn't great, writing is semi-funny though. If it appeals to you, try UnEpic instead which is pretty good.

The writing is semi-funny because it's so bad ;). I think just about anyone can write something equally as funny.

Besides War of the Viking and CK II, all of the games either are releasing today or were released yesterday, if anyone was curious.

For CK II, if you've played for more then five minutes you should the Marriage Game. Full House should be easy, either a small court (if I recall) or just play as one of the muslim leaders.

Doge-Elect shouldn't be too hard but might take awhile depending on who you start as, requires one of the expansions (The Republic I believe). Need someone old and probably a good personal wealth to blow on campaigning, basically like current US politics.

Until Death do us Part, find a ruler with a high intrigue to start, marry someone and should be doable, they may need to be hateable for it work (in that case probably different religion/culture and should be some traits I can't remember off hand).

Thanks. I might try for the easier achievements. Took me a second to realize I actually own the CKII base game...

Some easy SHOGUN 2 achievements (from YianGaruga at NeoGAF):

Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Commander of Commoners - £0.10
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock The Gathering Storm - £0.50
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Forged in the Hottest Flame - £0.50

from the main menu select multiplayer -> avatar conquest -> (skip tutorial) -> conquest map -> battle list -> host battle -> check classic battle

Here, put yourself in a team with 3 AI and only one AI on the other side. Click on the enemy AI's icon and right click all of their units to delete them. For your own army, use the Oda clan and at least 4 Oda Yari Ashigaru units and no cavalry. Now just start the game and put it on fast forward until your AI teammates defeat the enemy.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Balanced Attacker - £0.25
Same thing, just make sure your army contains at least one of every unit type (sword infantry, cavalry, archer, matchlock, spear, naginata)

Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Elusive Strike force - £0.50
Create a battle of you vs. one AI and only put a general and one other unit in your army. Select a map with a bit of forest like Koshinetsu ridge. Leave your general out in the open and walk your other unit into the forest until it is hidden. Wait 30 seconds, done.

All of these should only take a few minutes. I also managed to get

Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Unnecessary Force - £0.10
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - unlock Redoubtable - £0.25

I messed around with CKII during the last Reward period, but I never could get The Marriage Game to pop, no matter how much I got married and/or killed my wife. In fact, I couldn't see to earn a single achievement. I did, however, manage to piss off all of Central Europe and get everyone rebelling against each other! I was the leader of the Holy Roman Empire and imprisoned/murdered everyone in my family (except the ones who escaped and rebelled), and then imprisoned/murdered every one I talked to. Basically, I was the Mad King!

These are not too hard to get I still have no idea what I am doing in the game and I managed to get them. A couple tips though. You cant run any mods on the game to get achievements and you have to be in Ironman mode. Its a little selectable icon at the bottom right when you are selecting your starting character.

Crusader Kings II - The Marriage Game - £0.10

Easy, at the start of a game select your portrait at the top left then click the rings. Choose someone to marry.

Crusader Kings II - Full House - £0.15

This one can be a little luck based, It's good to choose a starting person that is young. You basically have to have 5 kids. Once you are married you can choose an ambition, the little thought bubble on the left side of your character info page. Choose have son or daughter then speed up the game to max (top right). Now just wait, it helps if you have lustful trait but I did it without. Just keep the game sped up and you should get the popup about your wife being pregnant then you'll have a kid. Once you succeed in the first ambition choose to have another kid, whichever gender you didn't choose for the first one. hopefully you'll have 5 before you die.

Crusader Kings II - Until Death Do Us Part - £0.20

So once you have your 5 kids, or I guess you can start a new game, you can try assassinating your wife. Right click her portrait and choose the scroll icon. On the next page you can click the assassinate option, likely the chance will be low you will succeed but it I just spammed it until it worked.

Crusader Kings II - Mr. Doge-Elect - £0.45

I'm not sure how hard this is apparently you need "The Republic" DLC to get it.

Ah, I don't use any mods but I doubt I chose Ironman Mode, since it was my first time playing it and I had no idea what I was doing. I figured I would've accidentally have gotten some achievements, but I didn't. This explains it, thanks!

Merry 4th of July, movie house-- I mean Playfire! Here's a completely craptacularly unnecessary hitchhiker's guide to £0.95 (assuming they track 1st time play, which they won't).

  • Wooden Sen'SeY - unlock Master of pain - £0.10
Die more than 15 times in a single level. Best done with this scenario of checkpoint (Lamp) and One-Up (upwards pointing yellow arrow looking thing) right next to each other:

2014_07_03_00002.jpg

I should mention this picture is the second to last level, but there are PLENTY of other great spots with this combination. Find one, and play suicide guy get it done.

  • Wooden Sen'SeY - unlock Axe lover - £0.25
Kill all enemies in a single level.

There are fifty enemies in the first level, of which I think only one or two is in a hard to reach location. Be vigilant, patient, and you should knock this out in the first ten minutes of the game. Also, remember you can attack upwards (right trigger on the controller, not sure for keyboard).

  • Wooden Sen'SeY - unlock Grudge - £0.50
      Kill 999 enemies

This sounds bad, but it isn't. Granted a slight grind for this achievement is necessary. If you don't enjoy the game, skip it.

If you're still with me: there are 9 levels in the game which took me a shade over 2 and half hours to beat (possibly small idle time included). After completing the game, I had killed approximately 80% the total amount so I just ran through level four (it has the most enemies) twice, which took about twenty minutes in total. You could also just repeat level four ~7 times from the get go and get the achievement quicker at the expense of grinding and boring yourself.

All in all, if you did the prisoner achievement in Battleblock Theatre, this is a fair bit easier.

Now here's hoping I wrote this all up correctly as I did it in haste.

There's already less older/bundled games appearing for PF rewards. Which is win/win I guess. Less rewards but more time to play what I want, when I want.

To be safe though I think I'll hit the Origin backlog first to avoid burning up potential future credit

Well the good news is that it seems Playfire updates much more quickly now (I got my Shogun 2 rewards within a couple hours of getting the achievs) but I still have a support ticket open from 3 weeks ago that has a bunch of rewards that haven't tracked yet. What did I do wrong Karl? I promise I'll change!

I managed to get the 2 achievements for CKII available without extra DLC. I spent half the time messing with the resolution. I couldn't see the very bottom of the screen and because of it didn't realize there was a "send" button that actually allowed me to make decisions...

Same for my CKII rewards.

Just adding to the comments about the crusader kings 2 rewards for impatient people (like me) who can't be bothered to play thru normally and want them cleared asap.

You'll want to marry a low-intrigue wive (preferbly 0) who is your religion (because most won't marry outside their religion) but not your culture. You can use the character finder (last button under the minimap) to find your potential victim.. err.. spouse.

Proceed to plot to kill her (click the auto-invite checkbox at the plot tab after, 2nd or 3rd to last tab). The plot should fire really quick because everyone in your court will hate your new wife and will join in on your plot. This will knock off the first 2 rewards. (marry and kill wife)

Restart as a patrician vassal in one of the republics (require the dlc), and choose the oldest guy among the 5 available. Once in the game, look on the republics tab (top left tabs, the last one) and see if you're not in the lead in the election race (represented by highest respect score and age factors heavily into it hence why you want to choose an old guy to start).

If you're not in the lead, note down who is for that particular start and restart as him. Spend your cash and attempt to assassinate the current doge (25% chance or so when I tried). You are now the new doge. If it fails, just restart and repeat.

Restart as a muslim/pagan character (use the religion view at the top middle of the screen when choosing the start) as this will allow you to have 3 secondary wives/concubines. Try to find ones with lustful traits. Also, remember to choose your ambition to "have a son/daughter" as this will add a passive chance. Run at speed 5 once done and ignore everything until you get the achievement!

Took like 10 minutes for me, but I've played thru the game before (without ironman), so I don't have to work thru the clunky UI that might be confusing to newcomers.

Stealth Bastard Deluxe won the Head-2-Head vote, but since the vote was only a 1% difference they decided to list some Skulls of the Shogun rewards as well.  You can see how the change in playfire reward policies has already changed the payout.

Just noticed one of the many sale items in GMG's Indiependence Day sale is Postal 2 Complete for $2.49. Seems a decent price to burn some credit on.
This comes at a good time if you're a BGCQ member as we're having a MP event for it tonight.

Of course it totally devalues my spare copy I was trying to sell though. :whistle2:(

Meh, lucky for me the only achievement I have on that list is Technical Skills but that still sucks. Least I get to play both now.

Really crappy reward amounts though compared to Shogun 2, if you notice. And they carry Stealth Bastard Deluxe. :wall:
