Nope, it's the stock drive. I haven't had problems with any other games, though admittedly it's been a month or so since I played a game using the disc drive so that could potentially be the problem. I cleaned the disc off pretty well last night and will test it tonight. Hopefully that resolves the issue.
There was a significant delay at checkpoints and loading with me for Killzone 2, but I never had it completely lock up on me.

Wtf, that comment surprised me. I remember being impressed with the games graphics when it came out. Seemed to have a strong Shadow Hearts vibe (awesome PS2 series for you youngsters).
I still have Covenant in my PS2 backlog, and I swear I'm going to start it up someday. Because Shadow Hearts, man. :joystick:

SHADOW HEAAAAAAAAARTS

Yeah right. No trophies.

Seriously thoughI see guys post about PS2 and older games all the time being in their backlog. I am pretty sure anything that far back isnt in a backlog but in storage. If you didnt get to them by now why would you ever go back?

Two words: SHADOW. HEARTS. Weren't you listening? :shame:

Some RPGs are worth going back for, trophies be damned.

So. This game is great yet it was released, what a decade ago(?), and you havent played it? Or is this some special backlog of games you want to replay 10 years after release?

I'm waiting for the right moment--when I'll have a yearning to play a classic JRPG that I haven't played before. Also, I only picked SH: C up within the past 5 years, so it's not like I bought it at launch. :nottalking:

Never said you got it at launch. But you cant possibly think its that great if you havent played it yet because you COULD have for 10 YEARS. Nothing is stopping you. Oh wait, there is, you dont have a yearning to play a classic JRPG. If you need a yearning then it isnt a game you really want to play.

*sigh* Alright.

just some food for thought - I took my complete download list spreadsheet and starting filling in howlongtobeat.com times. I got through the D ps3 games and the completion time (not 100%) was already up to 493 hours. interestingly, 6 of the 49 games comprise about 38% of those hours (Borderlands 1/2, Demons Souls, Deus Ex HR, Disgaea 3, Dragons Dogma).

the 100% time on those same games is a hilarious 1,641.5 hours. disgaea 3 is listed as 400 hours which can't possibly be right, can it?

when I'm done with this thing I'll publish it so you can guys can draw your own conclusions about how ridiculous this is.

Good job so far Pete.  I am interested to see your final results.  I have some estimated times to plat/100% from the guides on pstrophies in my own spreadheet.  I might do something similar to what you are doing too.  If I do I will share.  I dont have as many long games as you do though as I dont really play RPGs anymore.

You don't need to publish that for me to draw ridiculousness conclusions. :whistle2:

The Disgaea time sounds a bit off, yeah. The PS3 version lists 3 "Completionist" times at 619h, 434h, and 367h. 3 people isn't a very large sample. The Vita version has 117h and 108h for the 2 "Completionist" times, and it's got the DLC included by default.

This guide lists 70+ hours for the plat on Vita: http://ps3trophies.com/forums/showwiki.php?title=PS-Vita-Trophy-Guides:Disgaea-3:whistle2:Absence-of-Detention-Trophy-Guide

psnprofiles shows 646 people at 100% on PS3 and 141 on Vita. I doubt that would happen on a 400-hour plat.

good info. I'm marking everything that seems weird in red so I'll go back and verify later.

I am obviously a Sony fan-boy as most here are, but things like this help point out how they are often asleep at the wheel when trying to manage online resources.

Shit like this happens all the time in large corporations. It just isnt as obvious to the public usually. There are still a ton of people you have to rely on in these corporations. People make mistakes. People forget. Shit happens.

Finished up my first playthrough of Muramasa last night and started as the second character this morning. Since I'm going for the speed run trophy on this run, I'm skipping all story shit and it feel gloriously liberating. Pretty fun game. Though I'm not sure how in the hell I'll be able to beat that shit on Fury mode for the plat.

I used mostly this theory when clearing out a lot of games. I just outright sold some stuff (old sealed games always go for more which is nice). I'm down to about 12 physical games but I kept Spider-Man (PS1) because it's an all-time favorite and I can play it again on the PS3. I'm also currently playing Ocarina on the 3DS (old game) but that's a remake so I'm not sure if it counts. If anyone cares I'm up to the Water Temple now (the entrance) so basically I'm back to the furthest point I ever got...can't wait to finally finish this so I can check it off the should've fuck ing finished by now list. I think I may need to part with my PS1 copy of Brave Fencer Musashi at this point though because like you said if I haven't yet, will I really get to it? I really wish every PS1 game was playable on the Vita.

Digitally though I'm now doomed to keep everything forever, well at least until they shut the servers down rendering my digital purchases useless.

There's a special place in my heart for Brave Fencer Musashi...and the FFVIII demo disc that came with it. :joystick:

Haha, it's supposed to be really good...but I only ever played the first 45 mins or so. I liked what I played. It's funny I'm always like well it's only "x" amount of hours...I should just finish it and sell it off. I just need more "x" hours.

I started totaling time in a similar fashion and stopped once I hit 200 some-odd hours. Some things are better left unknown.

I dunno, I think it's really helping me - I'm seeing things that I have a passing interest in that suddenly are associated with a 30 hour commitment (which would take me 4 weeks generally) and I'm all like 'see ya, bitch'.

Felt like posting in here since it's been awhile, but you guys aren't talking about anything interesting... Be more interesting, please.

YOU ARE fuckING DEAD TO ME! I'll kill ya! Using that shitty ass guide...wtf man? I thought we were cool, Thermal Pile?

This guide is only 100000000000000x better: http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/disgaea-3-absence-of-detention/guide/

Agreed.

...Seriously? I did play games 10-15+ years ago, you know.
I dont know that. I can only see your trophy history. You could be 10 years old for all I know. Or you could have been playing nothing but coop board games back then. Thank you for confirming though as I was going to be wondering about this all day.

Sort of how I felt when I saw that Dark Souls main story is listed at 49.5 hours. I have more than a passing interest in it too but it would probably take me like 2 months to finish. That' s quite a commitment to one game, probably the main reason I no longer play RPGs.

No problem, and point taken. No one cares, but my first game ever was Super Mario Bros. on NES.

And who the hell uses PST.com over PST.org? That's like seeing a hot chick, but dating her retarded cousin who spends half of her time ripping things off from other people instead.

I have a tendency to type .com when I mean .org. I went to that .com site once and never went back. It looked like it was designed by a mildly handicapped person.

The only good thing is that you're bound to find a good guide since most of theirs are taken directly from the .org site, PSNPROFILES, and TrueTrophies.

my wife swatted the tail off a wasp yesterday and the tail continued to flop around under its own power for like 2 or 3 straight minutes. she took a video. it was horrifying.

This is very true. People expect major corporations to have all their shit together, but they're just run by people and people fuck up all the time. Think about your workplace, and all the areas where you think it's completely fucked up. This is true for almost every company.

Yeah I nod off too when people start talking about RPGs, especially JRPGs. But did you see the boob talk? That was cool.
