Humble Bundle Thread

Did ANYBODY happen to buy an extra Humongous Complete Pack as a gift and would be willing to sell it to me? Please let me know, I'll gladly buy it from you!

Did Square Enix remaster those Final Fantasy games in the Humble Store? Not sure if its worth it but looks really nice. Not too sure about the difference between the original and the ones in the store for vii and viii. Hated having to draw magic all the fing time.

7 and 8 are just the PC ports that came out years ago. 3 is a port of the mobile version, which is a port of the DS version, which I believe was remade for the platform.

I know nothing of III in terms of the PC version, but it's neato that it came to it, since it never had before. I enjoyed the game on the DS, but's I felt like it's pretty rudimentary, but that's a fault of the NES source material.

7 had some issues with the music track being MIDI, but they patched that. VIII still has this MIDI music, with fans claiming that it sounds worse than the PS1 soundtrack. It's probably tolerable, but stupid on Square's part. Since VII's got fixed months in, I expect VIII will eventually be fixed.

I hear there's minor graphical updates, and of course, since it's on PC, you can mod.

One time activation through Square's server, then I think it acts like normal Steam DRM, but it is an extra first online-only step. You can even pay for some cheats, which is stupid for the player, but great for them.

I think that's enough. I miss anything ya'll?

EDIT: Oh, achievements, which is kinda' cool.

Back in the day if you had a really good midi card those old FF7 and 8 PC games sounded great. I had a Soundblaster AWE32 with 28MB of RAM (there's Jpegs bigger than that now but in the 90s that was a lot) and a Yamaha DB50XG daughterboard. It sounded awesome.

These days we all have some crap software midi Microsoft halfassed into Windows years ago and then forgot about so no wonder it sounds terrible. It was stupid for them to release a modern game with midi anyway, even if it was a re-release. It's not hard to record all those midi tracks off of some machine running actual decent midi hardware and then just make them all into mp3s or whatever.

Frig, I have the full FFVIII soundtrack in lossless AAC. Just ask, SE, I'll send you the files. Every looping track repeats in full twice, so you have plenty to work with to get a workable looping copy.

Yeah it's pretty easy to find good quality renditions of those tracks and there's been orchestral concerts playing them and everything. It's more like WFT Square y u giv midi?

Its a pain but supposedly you can replace the default MS gssynth renderer with another one, then choose a soundfont that doesnt suck balls and midi will be rendered awesome again

The issue is with vista and above ms removed the ability to change the default midi mapping and send midi output wherever you wanted, so now you have to do these workarounds with 'virtual' midi cables and what not.  Havent tried it but you can try this one:

http://openmidiproject.sourceforge.jp/MIDISelector_en.html

supposedly just lets you change the midi mapping again

not sure why MS decided that midi was basically a legacy format since every single piece of audio production software still uses it as the basis for anything non-audio related

Undoubtedly true but the vast majority of the customer base will never use audio production software, and a significant fraction of the ones that do are using it for a) putting loops together in a sequencer and/or b) using it with a virtual or real turntable for DJ work, neither of which, if I understand it correctly, actually need MIDI.

First one to PM me with a correct guess for each of the games below gets a humble gift link to it:

The last one's gotta have something to do with a nonhuman sperm being too powerful for that ovum ...so Hatoful Boyfriend?

Well, I figured there was some legal shenanigan behind it, but what the hell was Spider-Man doing with the Transformers anyway? Did Stan Lee have a really good doobie that day and decide, why not get your chocolate in my peanut butter?!

This doesn't explain the missing # 9 unless this was the blowout spectacular annual issue where Wolverine, X-Force, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Guardians of the Galaxy team up with the Autobots to take down Megatron once and for all.

F*&# it, I'll just skip this one and wait for the Buffy and The Shadow comics bundles!

Isn't that what the entire Saints Row series is already?
Sorry, just catching up on posts. #9 has a character Marvel created named "Circuit Breaker".

I would like to buy the bundle with google Wallet and it will not let me, maybe cause the email is different from my humble account, I dont know, any one willing to  buy it for me and pay the max 15.01 right and I will send them the money via GW, I will show proof that I have over 100$ in my account?

$1 tier is pretty good, but who doesn't have at least 2/3 of those by now?

QUBE is non-directors cut. DLC won't be for sale ever and you have to buy directors cut version to get it. Seems perfect.
Nah, it should come with both the old version and director's cut AFAIK. Unless someone confirmed otherwise.

I thought Director's Cut just came with QUBE now?  It did when I bought it a couple weeks ago (when Steam switched the catalog to only sell DC and I bought the non-DC from Amazon).

I'd lament having bought QUBE from Amazon but they gave me $5 app credit back on a $6 purchase and I want Cosmic DJ about as much as I want lice so I guess it all worked out.

Didn't they get a bunch of crap when they were going to charge previous owners for the DC version? Seems dumb to go back to pissing people off again.
I think it was only because they promised it free. These new users haven't been promised and they get what they paid for. Althought it isn't very clear. Sneaky tactics.

And everyone who previously owned it got the Director's cut.

This is after the fact, and they have no obligation to upgrade new owners for free.

There's a commercial about "self lubricating catheters" on television while I'm browsing the steam daily deals, and for some reason this made me feel like buying Orcs Must Die

Not that I have a horse in this race but they have up until this point been giving the DC to everyone who bought Qube after they added the DC, including bundles, so I could see where someone might think they were getting it if that point weren't clarified in the buy page.

So you have cosmic DJ in your pubes?

Just when I thought those devs couldn't get any sketchier, they pull this crap off. Amazing. I'm tempted to ask them why they did this, when they have a sticky post that says all QUBE owners get the DC for free. But I'll let someone else do that.

I'll throw a buck at this bundle just to get the OST that Groupees still hasn't freakin' reuploaded in FLAC format.

Thinking about going for the whole $15 hog, almost entirely for Last Federation. The only other game out of the bundle I own is Qube so it'd be a +6 at least, but man. $15 for largely just Federation feels pretty bad. Especially because Arcen games always make me go "Huh, that's neat" for the first couple hours I play it and then I never ever touch the game ever again because they all play like ass and don't get fixed because they move on to banging out their next game in a week.

This is what happens when you remove me from your friends list, Cow, you ponder horrible game buying decisions.  This bundle is crap.  Just like the last few Humble Weeklies -- only three $1 tier games and the rest overpriced.

Playing devil's advocate here, that post does say "free for existing users". Which would mean at the time of that post. Not free for everybody.

It sounds like you just talked yourself out of it.

FWIW Arcen tends to be a repeat offender for bundles so I doubt this will be the only bundle it ever gets put in but it's almost guaranteed to be the most expensive.

And is that why they no longer sell the original game on Steam, then? The only places that have the game are third party resellers like GreenManGaming. How convenient that this version of the game also doesn't include the DLC stuff that's already bundled with the DC.

They should have plainly said "later releases of the original game via bundles will not include the DC" but since they pulled it from sale on Steam, well.

Has anybody actually bought the bundle and can confirm/deny that you get the DC?  Sounds like we're working on supposition and assumption here.

I don't have a horse in the race at all, just curious.  And the bundle isn't tempting enough for me to try it myself.

Any recommendations on Last Federation in the SciFi Bundle? As in, for someone who likes strategy games but not something mega-mega-complicated. Debating the 6 buck tier or 15 buck tier.

Problem is it's actually a game I want. I've gotten better about not buying games I don't give a shit about and have gotten worse about buying games I actually want for higher prices. And even though Arcen games tend to burn me I still in my heart of hearts want to make a space federation with barn owls and terror-bugs.

Similarly torn by $7.50 Pixel Pirates. Sounds cool, gameplay video I looked at during the summer sale looked cool, but it also looked seriously half-baked. They claim it's version 1.0 glorious release now, and further went on to talk about how it was the fastest in and out of Greenlight and was taken from concept to completion in under a year. That tells me either it's a competent indie developer that loves what he's doing and kicks out constant work, or it's a money grubbing indie developer that is riding a wave of WORLD BUILDING! and PIXEL GRAPHICS! and I GOT HELP FROM RELOGIC AND THEY'RE WHAT MADE TERRARIA DO YOU LIKE TERRARIA WE'RE LIKE TERRARIA! hype and squeezed as much money as could be had from early access and is pushing version 1.0 out the door just to get full release dollars and then goes on permanent "vacation".

One of the two options is more likely than the other.

So Strike Vector and The Fall for $6 are still too much from what everyone has been pointing. Dangs Strike Vector looks like fun  :whistle2:k

I feel the same about Strike Vector. The thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger are reports from the Strike Vector Steam forums stating the online population is low, and a lot of players that ARE online are veterans, so expect to get your butt kicked.

That said, I tend to do pretty well in these types of games, so I'm still on the fence. Wish the game had bots.

Oh man no bots? Well there is the deal breaker then. It looks like fun, but no bots kill it for me.
