I'm afraid that Sleeping Dogs MMO will be only the tip of the iceberg: didn't Squenix say that they want to turn all Eidos' games into "persistent online experiences" earlier this year? Say hello to World of Deus Ex, Hitman Wars and Dark Age of Tomb Raider...

Skip Port Royale 3, get Port Royale 2 if you can find it. Don't be swayed by the Pirate theme, these are trading/econ games similar to the Patrician series. Kalypso tried to make a more accessible trade Sim by improving the graphics, which didn't accomplish much more than making already awkward naval combat even more clunky.

Just like Patrician, where 3 was significantly better than its sequel, Port Royale 3 was a huge letdown for fans, and really isn't a good enough game to create new ones.

On the other hand, Dead Man's Draw is a fun and surprisingly unique card game that gets better as the difficulty progresses. Starts out laughably simple, but once your opponents catch up with the volume of "abilities," it can be quite tricky.

Tip for Steam newbies:

This. This right here is the best money saving deal advice on CAG. Never ignore a CAG's game recommendation.

Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars PC exclusive online MMO ? :(
If they're going the MMO route then I'm really, REALLY hoping Triad Wars is just an offshoot of Sleeping Dogs, and that there really is a single player Sleeping Dogs 2 still in development. Otherwise...

Bought on your recommendation. Thanks!

That guy sounds like a douchebag, searching for answers to questions no one is asking. I don't want a persistent Tomb Raider world. Part of of what I like about the game is that I get a story and a somewhat unique locale to enjoy for a while and then... boom. I'm done. I don't want to stay on the "Island of Yucatai" or whatever it is forever.

Frankly, there are very few games that I finish where I say "gee, I wish I could play this for 20 more hours. About half the time I find myself wishing it would be done already.

Give me a quality six to eight hour experience and if it's extra-special I'm down for an expansion pack or something. Then move on.

When is the last time you went to see a movie, and when it was done you said, "Gee... I wish I could see 4 more hours of this movie every single day"? Right, never.

I may be wrong, but I just can't see Squeenix doing this right and I can't help but think they're in it for all the wrong reasons. Not every game needs to be stuffed into the same mold and with titles like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex, you're sort of taking away what is special about them when you string them out and make them open-ended. My greatest fear being, of course, that these "MMO-ized" games replace proper sequels to good games.

Question about the Lego games.

My favourite game of the series, by some distance, was Lego Marvel. Why? Because it had a big open city with lots of side-missions, and challenges, and sub-quests, all of which gave you something to go back to once you felt like it. Beating the storyline was only half the achievement and I really liked that about it.

Are Lego LOTR, Lego Hobbit, Lego HP5-7 orLego Batman 2 like that in any way? (I've already got Lego HP1-4 and Lego Batman 1).

LEGO Lotr and Batman 2, yes. HP not really.

I liked LEGO LoTR a lot ... second only to Marvel, I think. The Hobbit is not supposed to be very good. I didn't like HP 5-7 very much.

"Persistent Online Experiences" is a really broad "corporate-speech" kind of term. It could mean as little as an iPhone app.

Don't take what CEOs tell their shareholders at face value. It's by necessity a lot of bullshit.

Dead Man's Draw it is!

Thanks for the advice.

Also worth noting that Batman 2 and forward are the only lego games with speech.

I really enjoyed the quips in LEGO Marvel, and I think it would be hard to go back to everything being pantomimed.

highly recommend him. He is flexible, prompt, reasonable and very polite. My favorite seller
He also takes lengthy breaks from selling a lot.

Cherish him when he's around, but you'll have to do a good portion of your buying from other regional sources during much of the year.

But does Port Royale 2 have a weed emoticon you can sell for $10 steambux?

"Persistent Online Experience" sounds to me more like a euphemism for "Always-Online DRM-laced experience." ;)

I hope that a SD2 SP-offline experience is in the works, as well.

With AAA games mixing components into one online experience like Destiny (consoles) and D3 + RoS (PC) and selling VERY well; and more of these always-online games coming (The Crew, The Division) - this could unfortunately be the next big thing, for both better and for worse.

:dunce: Did I mention that u dont need to listen to the video, u just need to see it!
Did anyone forget that if an artist is actually gonna rap, that they actually have to spit some worthwhile bars?

The opening double-entendre she threw was slick, but...that was where it pretty much ended unfortunately, pretty much.

An "artist" rap? LOL, I know it's MysterD but hot damn, that's a good one.

Iggy ain't spitting bars that are in the leagues w/ many other MC's.

Think of MC's such as Eminem; Jay-Z; anybody from the Wu; Sean Price; Common; Black Thought; Lil Kim; Pusha T. Hell, and that list - that's just for starters...

Hell, she ain't even spitting in the leagues of Drake, Nicki Minaj + Lil Wayne - you know, when those last artists actually even try to spit something worthwhile...

I have no fucking clue what you just said. At all.......

Iggy still needs to improve her bars - especially when the beat is that sick.
A: No one is paying any attention to her rapping.
B: She's as fake as can be, and not just her ass. See point A.

I don't bother to critique a vast majority of mainstream rap anyway, it's become vapid. Tech N9ne though? I'll put in a call to get on the guest list (and I hate asking for things), heh. But seriously, if anyone actually cares about rap, and want it to be more than something playing in the background, they're going to look past most of what the mainstream does.

I applaud you for knowing what bars are, but that list is just sad... besides I don't want to hear about Wu Tang or their affiliates right now.

Oooh - most definitely add Tech to my list.

Kendrick belongs on the list, as well.

He actually crafted an actual whole album - which, seems to be hard to find, these days + age.

EDIT:

The technical content of Iggy's bars lacks. She ain't spitting many metaphors, similes, multiple-entendres, other figures of speech, or anything of that sort.

All she got is a decent flow + usually very good production from the beat-maker on the boards, backing her voice.

This I can agree on. Getting a cohesive album put together is like pulling teeth.
Yes - most albums these days just seem like glorified mixtapes.

You'll find maybe a handful of songs you actually like and love - and that's just about it.

Kendrick's album (Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City) was an actual album w/ an actual concept + theme to it.

Thread SOS, ALARM, ALARM! I thought the indie games crap was bad but this borderline panic inducing.

Don't worry - I'll probably start talking about DRM in about 4...3...2...1.... ;)
I don't think you have much to talk about. Starforce DRM was the worst crap we've ever had and it is no longer an issue. If you played console (IF haha), then you should know that a while ago, EA start charging people for playing multiplayer i.e. FIFA, Madden etc. After the big backslash, they stop doing it.. for now

So I don't normally get excited about indie crap, but I thought it was cool that Outland is being released on Steam on Sept 29th. It was previously console exclusive and published by Ubisoft. Looks like the steam version will be self-published by the dev

Even Tebow's posts are better raps.
