Fanatical Thread

Hm. Not that I know of. My fuzzy recollection is that these are the same game but the former name was used in the U.S. and the latter in Europe (or vice-versa)? And then maybe it was switched sometime after release?
We're both correct. The name was changed, but they apparently made a separate app id. I managed to figure out how to click my mouse in the appropriate places in the steamdb and found:

Battle vs Chess: 211050
Check vs Mate: 211070

Yeah, it's a little weird that they're selling the same game under different names in different regions but it's not like it's the first time that's happened. I think every 1C game has two different names (note: I may be exaggerating slightly).

EDIT: I went back and read that wiki article you linked; this sort of douchebaggery doesn't really make a company look good at all. No one's going to confuse a chess game released in 2012 with Interplay's decades-old games that you can only find on places like GOG now. Who cares whether the name is similar or if it's basically the same game? It's not like Interplay was doing that to protect some IP that they're actively working on--hell, I didn't even know they still existed as an entity. Topware and Zuxxez are at least making and releasing games, even if the quality of those releases is highly variable. This reminds me of that stupid King lawsuit over The Banner Saga.

FX Football is $1.  Lowest price.  Thought it might have been in the soccer football bundle, but wasn't.

I do not want this game at all, but...

Edit: It was in the 8 Ball Bundle.  Knew I saw it somewhere.  Wonder why ES/ITAD missed that?

Free Crash Time 2 Giveaway Key with BundleStars affiliations. Like Bundlestars on facebook and put in your email and claim your key. It's pretty easy though I will likely go to facebook later and get rid of coupons or whatever the heck app it was using. Worthless stuff.

Looks pretty decent. I only have a few of these Cossacks games and none on Steam, IIRC.

Not a huge strategy fan so this is a pass for me, but otherwise not an awful deal.  Weren't the Cossack games in another BS bundle at some point?

I'm missing 5/8 of those games, but that works out to be more than .50 each, and the prospect of missing an opportunity to round out my Cossacks collection isn't going to keep me awake at night.

Stealth Edit!

New bundle for the next 8+ days.

The Sopranos Omerta Complete (SINGLE Steam Key) Bundle ($4.49US):

 • Omerta - City of Gangsters
 • The Japanese Incentive DLC
 • The Arms Industry DLC
 • Damsel in Distress DLC
 • The Con Artist DLC
 • The Bulgarian Colossus DLC
If you were a true CAG, you would have picked up a free GOG copy of "Omerta - GOG Gold Version" which includes everything but "The Japanese Incentive DLC", but then you wouldn't have your precious Steam Key now would you?

So, buy it CAG, buy like the wind!

Real Men are at work making money to support their family.  And checking CAG so they can provide cheap entertainment for them and their family.

My 11 yr old boy LOVES CAG.  True story - He wanted Madden 15 BADLY, so I told him he could buy it for $35 or so.  He said, I will wait.  You will find it cheaper...  And sure enough, CAG saved him a ton of money.

CAG is teaching 11 yr old boys the value of SAVING!! WHOOOHOOO!!

Thanks for the heads up on the GOG thing. I would not have thought to look at my account there and sure enough I got the freebie.

I really enjoyed Omerta, but that's probably because I hadn't played a turn-based, AP style game in a while. The mechanics aren't all that deep, the story's fairly cliched, and the time-period aesthetic isn't overwhelmingly awesome a la Bioshock. Co-op's fun, but it's mostly a different set of maps from the campaign and combat only, no city-building. The character DLC is unnecessary because there's plenty of variety within the base game, but The Japanese Incentive is worth it with new weapons, characters and a worthwhile campaign. Also, if you want the 100% you need it.

FRONTLINE TACTICS (A FREE TO PLAY GAME) COMPLETE BUNDLE:

I just read through the reviews. Lots of complaints about the need to buy in-game credits with real world money if you want to avoid grinding. Or maybe to get anywhere at all.
sound like most online game nowadays... pay or grind

Looking at the Steam page, looks like the Frontline Tactics bundle comes with 300,000 credits, three soldiers, and a bunch of skins for $2. This looks like a great deal for people who play the game (especially since a single soldier/credits pack costs $6 on Steam), but the high price of the soldier/credit DLC packs likely means it's a grindfest, and I have TF2 for that. Still, it's only $2 dollars....
