I still have DF: TLJ from retail - which I just looked, is on 5 bloody CD's!

I forgot it was on a handful of CD's!

Would be nice if DF: TLJ GOG-version or Steam-version would up in a bundle of some sort.

EDIT:

I have the original TLJ from both retail + Steam.
I've got a PC Box copy of that one stashed in my dungeon garage. Later on, picked it up on Steam. ....still haven't played much of it. :headache:

Yo, last reminder before the actual stream, but I'm doing a 24h charity gaming marathon for Extra Life this year which starts about 10-12 hours from now. A lot of you awesome people have already donated, but if you haven't and would like to help some sick kids you can do so here.

You can follow my stream here if you want to watch all the madness tomorrow. I'll be giving out tons of games you already own, crapping myself over whatever horror games I play, having sex with pigeons, and possibly breaking out my guitar with horrible accompanying vocals. Hope to see you there to help keep me awake (and halfway sane)!
Crap, I'm gonna be at a local con selling stuff when this happens, but I wish you good luck with those pigeons!

I heard there's a Steam beta or something for the new GTA San Andreas HD edition, does anyone know if there's like a steamdb entry for that or have any other info?

I did some looking around, apparently its a beta version of the existing San Andreas game on Steam, and has had some songs removed and xinput support added.

so tried for the first time to make a badge
Protip: craft badges during major sales events (Summer/Holiday). At least then you have a chance of getting extras in return. Also, make sure you get all your cards needed for crafting prior to the event and sell off your extras during the event.

And if you can't do this, just hope you are on the same team as bunches of people who do this!

Alright, here we are. Time for 24h of charity gaming madness! I'm too lazy to type anymore up and you know the deal by now anyway, so here's the stream, come hang out and keep me awake:

Looking to try the fallout series, confused on what to purchase from gamersgate so many editions.tho the 1 and 2 don't look enjoyable to me at all.

Alright thanks, have the games been cheaper? i think i might wait since i have so much to play already.
Both generally bottom out at $5, though, they hit that price far less frequently then they used to. If you have a 20% discount for GG, I believe it works on your entire cart, so that helps mitigate the slightly higher price of FO:NV Ultimate.

mysterD changed my mind thanks to you both

Depends on what you're into.

IMHO - Fallout is one of the best RPG series out there period.

Fallout 1 + 2 are great, if you're into very old-school CRPG's with turn-based combat. They're both classics, IMHO. With lots of decision-making; off-the-wall humor; plenty of blood + guts; foul language; and a different post-apoc' setting for a RPG - definitely ground-breaking, when they both came out.

Fallout 3 + Fallout: New Vegas all have meaty DLC's. So, those are games you should go Complete on.

So, for Fallout 3 - you're best going w/ GOTY Edition - which comes w/ all 5 DLC's. Point Lookout + The Pitt really stand-out, if you ask me.

For Fallout: New Vegas, you want the Ultimate Edition. Old World Blues is one of the best DLC's that I've ever played - period.

Also, to run Lead Designer Josh E. Sawyer's HardCore Mode, you actually do need base game + every single DLC - so, if you want to use that, you do need Ultimate Edition.

As for Fallout 3 GOTY + New Vegas, they're always going to be a debate of what's better. Both are a great, in their own ways.

First up, Fallout 3. IMHO - not many can top Bethesda when making huge game-worlds to explore and get lost in than Bethesda - and a destroyed East Coast back when it came out looked incredible. Fallout 3 was certain fresh as can be, back when it came out. Fallout 3 set the standard of how a modern-day Fallout game could be made for the modern-era - with its allowed 1st person/3rd person view-switching on the fly; real-time combat; and the VATS system (you build-up action points and then can jump into a turn-based style mode like Fallout 1+2 and watch the violence play-out in a cinematic manner. Fallout 3 is often a lot more serious than what New Vegas has going on; and the writing here is certainly not in Obsidian's league; but it's still one of Bethesda's best, actually.

New Vegas is from Obsidian - many of the former FO2 designers such as Chris Avellone + Josh E. Sawyer were involved in that. Obsidian are experts w/ character, storytelling, narrative, prose, and especially tons of decision-making - especially w/ having Avellone on board; dude's a RPG legend (i.e. Fallout 2; Planescape: Torment). So, while Fallout 3 might've been fresher b/c how it completely modernized the FO formula - New Vegas brings back the often twisted and tongue-in-cheek humor; and the personality that was often found in the earlier Fallout games (Fallout 1 + 2). Also, there's a lot more decision-making and emphasis on your stats can cause more and different options available; especially when compared to FO3.

But, still - all of the FO games are great, IMHO. You can't go wrong w/ any of those, IMHO.
Because of you long explanation i ended up ordering (-_-) thanks lol

Yeah, six bucks and change seems to be the usual discounted price for FO:NV ultimate lately.  I actually just played through it and would say the extra buck and change is worth it over waiting on a $4.99 price.

I wasn't super impressed with Old World Blues.  It started out funny, then it dragged, then t dragged some more, then it picked up a little towards the end.  Endless scorpions and running the same tests three or four times in a row isn't my definition of great game making.  Didn't help either that I had never put a single point into energy weapons but that wouldn't have made it "better" just faster to get through.

For actual story pacing, I liked Honest Hearts better.  I never played the other two (Lonesome Road, Dead Money) but plan to do them with my new character.

FO3: GOTY and FO: New Vegas Ultimate been $5 each before.

FO3: GOTY:

New Vegas Ultimate:

Regardless of price, you should get around 50-100 hours out of each per playthrough

I've done 2 playthroughs of FO3 - each one was around 40-50 hours each for the base-game; did some of the DLC's which added on another 19 hours or so.

FO: NV Ultimate - Steam got me clocked around 113 hours (base game + all DLC's combined).

Lonesome Road is linear + narrative/story/character driven.

It's worth playing just to close-out your Courier's story.

EDIT:

Also, I really liked both Lonesome Road + Dead Money.
