Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Nice.  I've been wanting to pick up Trouble in Paradise, but wasn't too keen on paying $20+ for a physical copy.

RF Guerilla is another good classic.  Far better than the last one that came out.  It's almost like Saints Row meets Just Cause 2 Mercenaries 2, on Mars.

The games seem fine to me. I don't even have time to play the GWG items anyway, but I'm not sure what the big deal is since November is going to be packed with a ton of AAA games to play.

Does 5400 vs 7200 make much difference for a usb 3.0 harddrive? This is the drive I have leftover from when i sold my ps3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136459 I'm thinking I might just use the docking station for backing up my music and stuff rather then storing games on.
7200 will almost always shave a few seconds off of loading times so unless the price difference is great enough to warrant 5400 or you are power conscious then go with a 7200.

Oh and are seagate drives reliable? 1tb for $50

Not power conscience just have a spare harddrive sitting in my drawer. BTW are seagate drives considered reliable? This one for $50 seems like a good deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL103014&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL103014-_-EMC-103014-Index-_-InternalHardDrives-_-22148840-L0C i might just wait until i actually need it though. I don't regret buying the caddy though seeing how i take apart computers sometimes and end up with drawers full of harddrives and the dock will come in handy.

Soo I am having a hard time loving Sunset Overdrive. I really really enjoy everything about it except for all of the go to point B, pick up object, go back to point A. I've played a few hours and it seems like that is what every single mission is. Do the missions ever change or is the entire single player confined to that formula?

Our reviewer beat the game and that was his main issue.... It must not change very much.

Should do the job OK, though I'd prefer WD over Seagate.

yeah i see amazon has a western digital one for about $5 more than that seagate. I bookmarked it for when I feel the need to upgrade. Right now I think I'll just use my spare hard drive as backup or something for my desktop.

If I was going to roll my own for a XB1, I'd probably get a WD Black and a good case with active cooling. If I didn't roll my own, it would probably be a WD Elements.

I'm streaming Halo 3 and 4 campaign levels from the Master Chief Collection on Twitch tonight, and giving out prizes as well. Starts at 8pm central and runs for 1 hour, 45 minutes. See this story for the details and the link to yesterday's Halo CE and Halo 2 stream archives.

Guessing you cant show anything about the skulls or the LASO playlist?

ok, the reason I ask about the laso playlist is what skulls are on during the missions. If scarab skull is available it would make H2A laso extremely easy.

Each game has its own list of skulls right? I'm guessing you can't use scarab skull in Halo 4?

Scarab is not one of the 13 Skulls I see available in Halo 3 or 4. I do see it listed on Halo 2, which has more skulls to choose from.

I'm using the Seagate external Major Nelson recommended when they announced hard drive support. So far no problems here. It is tough to base a decision on brand since all brand have their high end models and low (though some brands are all low). It is also 5400, not as fast as if I had 7200 or an SSD, but still faster than the internal drive.

Faster enough to clutter my desk even further? You can replace the internal right? But then youvget an extara 500gb basically free if you go external.

Oh and why did the stereo chat adapter have to be a standalone accessory? They couldnt have just made the stock headset a 3.5mm plug and swap in your own headphones? It appears to be exact same part

You cannot replace the internal hard drive. From what I understand a comparable drive over USB 3.0 (same platter speed) would be faster externally than it would be internal. You're talking about a few seconds usually so I guess whether that is worth it is up to you.

Jesus Christ, welcome to 2013. The biggest thing was they upgraded the audio therefore using better hardware aka audio adapter.

Well pardon me. When two things look nearly identical I had to question whether they just released the stereo adapter as a separate device for the sole purpose of milking extra money out of people.

Ugh Horizon 2 is $38 from Best Buy with GCU. Wasn't too fond of the demo yet I'm still tempted at that price.

Ended up buying Drive Club instead and obviously that didn't satisfy my itch for a racer.

Wow. thanks for the heads up, need to get my price adjustment.
They probably won't price adjust if you used the gcu for $30 deal when initially buying the game will they? On a side note I really need to sink some more time into sunset overddrive this weekend. Is there a secret to getting better at the traversal? It seems if you try to play it like other games it's not as fun.

Patience and timing pretty much. I'm getting a little better the more I play.

One tip is if you're approaching the ground, tap X then A to roll/handspring to keep the combo coming.

I stared really focusing on bouncing and wall running. If you look ahead you can usually plan out your bounces/wall runs in advanced. That has helped me out A LOT. I also recently unlocked an amp that lets me do this air boost thing. When I am in the air I can push A + RB and my character will do a little glide thing. That helps a lot too.

I'm not sure if anyone here bought the Sunset Overdrive Bundle (Well except el swordo), but people on Reddit are reporting receiving messages from Xbox thanking them for the purchase and indicating they'll receive Ryse for free.

Horizons 2 is freaking great.  I just wish they would stop trying to get me to do online stuff I have no interest in. It feels like a good mixture of paradise and motorstorm.   No guns n roses or alice in chains yet though which is kinda disappointing.  I do really like some of the classical music they have in the game.  I need to look up what some of it is.  I really wish the announcer guy would shut the heck up sometimes though.  What exactly is the secret to taking perfect hairpin corners?  I keep finding myself doing them over and over again trying to get them perfect but still can't do it. Played more Sunset Overdrive tonight and I have really mixed feelings about the game.  On the one hand some stuff is really fun like having that dog obliterate your enemies for you.  But, on the other hand i just find the combat boring.   Grind and blindly fire and the lock on will take care of it for you.   Every time I play it I'm like I can just switch to second son.  I definitely need to keep going though but, so far I've always just ended back on forza.  Oh and kazeno no free ryse yet but, i'll definitely keep a lookout now thanks

You know I'm really surprised with two Forza titles available on the Xbox One and The Crew in beta that there hasn't been an official Xbox One steering wheel announced for this holiday yet.

You can get the just-released Hori Racing Wheel for $90 or spend crazy money on either the Madcatz wheel or Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel. Here's my unboxing of the latter!

Anybody have experience with the Xbox One stereo headset? My headset just pretty much died and I need a cheap replacement until I can get a better one.
I use and enjoy it. Probably the best one you can get at that price range, especially since it includes the Stereo Headset Adapter.

Paragraph breaks! Horizon 2's online features are great; you should try them. The Ryse code is sent as an Xbox Live message, not an email. I got one, whoo! Now I have all three Microsoft-published launch exclusives at last.

Yeah I understand that it's sent as an xbox live message. Still nothing. I hope they're stil sending them but, I won't hold my breath. Would be really nice if it was everyone that bought the console though

Ryse should have been the GwG this month, but this is still pretty cool.

Am I the only one who feels completely MEH about SSO?

I feel like its a mix of Jet Grind Radio/Dead Rising, and they just do both ok. I might as well trade it in during the PS4/COD promo, and get COD.

it took me a couple of hours for eveything to click. How long have you played for?

I thought you were going to say 1 hour or something lol You might as well trade it while the value is still high.
No. I don't make up mind on a game in an hour. The tutorial is usually still going on at that point.

I'm thinking of trading it during the WM double up value.

yup me too. I played it for around 3 hrs and it feels boring so far and it tries to be funny when its not. I like the art style but somethings missing.

for me sunset is near   top of my list for game of year about 6 hours in and love it so far. it starts out slow but picks up big time later on. The only issue i have with the game is that the story is not that great and alot of time's they don't explain anything. i hope to finish soon to trade it in so i can get unity next week.
