CAGiversary!

The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

The Re;Birth 2 LE sure is quiet. Hopefully we'll hear something soon, but I expect it to be a total mess since they're going to try and open their own store to sell it.

Puzzle & Dragons was surprisingly addictive on my smartphone. I mainly stopped as I was having a hard time getting anything rare or better and was mainly using uncommon creatures, plus the extreme amount of grinding and I got to a place where the boss would 2 shot my whole team. I will play the Mario one esp if it's not a pay 2 do better like the smartphone one got to be after a while.

What page watching addons (chrome preferred) do you guys use to see games come up on GCU or otherwise? I got lucky with Majora's Mask and got in a pre-order, but didn't expect it to go nearly as quickly as it did.

Steam is having an "anime sale" this weekend. Couple good titles, though most are still either priced too high or are not very good.

edit: And I guess Legend of Korra counts as anime... I have no problem with that (actually love the show).

edit2: Couple standouts are KoF XIII SE, Carpe Fulgar Collection, Analog + Hate Plus, and Ys games (these have been cheaper).

I platted Korra. Good game aside from one of the levels on hard and that there's a semi-random item drop related to a trophy. Really fun beating people up especially on the 2nd run.

Also Agarest War is $3.74. Cheapest it's been, I think?

Cheapest it's been. Zero is also on sale...but not cheapest...so eh...will wait. It plays decently well by the way. Also card prices are OK though have been better in the past.

I liked P&D for iOS. My major complaints though, constantly bringing up the bottom slide screen when playing and the GRIND. I'd assume I won't have problems with the prior on the 3ds and I sincerely hope that there won't be a huge grind, assuming it's the usual 3ds MSRP retail game. I so hope it comes over here.

There's a new batch of DLC songs ($0.99 each) for Theatrhythm FF: Curtain Call out today:

  • “Soaring” (Xenogears)
  • “Last Battle –T260G-” (SaGa Frontier)

The game releases in about 3 weeks, so im guessing they're still working out the online system. This LE doesn't have hard to obtain items, so quantity shouldn't be a major issue. Also I hope that HyperDevotion & Action U get LE's too.

I like Page Monitor. Pretty straightforward, but I know the Amazon Warehouse Deals thread have a good tutorial buried somewhere in one of the old threads if you want to dig for it.

Use IFTTT.com . Better than watching a browser for hours. Here's a recipe I made to check for the price of MH4U. You can also make a recipe to SMS/text you instead.

Because she's too sexy to die.

You'd think this would be one of the original songs on the first theatrhythm. I'm surprised they took this long to release it.

Given how many Japanese titles are making way to PC I might have to upgrade finally to be able to play these unless they can run on a five year old laptop.
Depending on your specs, you actually might be able to run some of them. Most of the titles aren't exactly graphic intensive. If you're talking about stuff like Valkyria Chronicles and Neptunia though, that'd be trouble.

If you can run your average run of the mill Doujin game, there's no immediate need to upgrade your pc. Not that many "anime" type games have the graphics requirement of something like say Crysis or Battlefield.

Makes me start to think though. What if there was a Battlefield game, but all anime tropes. Damn that would be awesome. Something like a true Gundam battlefield game. I know there was something like that on PS3 and was f2p, but I heard it was just balls awful.

I think you can get an anime girl idol mask or something like that in Payday 2. Might be the closest you can get, but still requires a lot imagination. :p

the one I remember them mentioning is check4change. I didn't care for it too much but someone else might like it.

I think we would all love something like that but how would developers handle the art direction of the game? I can't even imagine a large scale FPS that was all cartoony. I'm also really tired of things that look like WoW and Wildstar.

Anyone have any thoughts on the visual novels that are on sale?

There is an anime mod for left 4 dead 2 on pc that changes everything to moe characters including a hyperdimention netunia character mod also. I believe there probably are other mods on similar pc games too but that's the only one i know off the top of my head that I played/know about.

I'm a semi-conservative Christian and this really disappointed me. He shouldn't have pushed his agenda on that.

To other news I finally opened my eyes and want Danganronpa (the first one) and I'm disappointed it's so expensive and no deals to be found. I missed out on this one.

I always find it weird when people call something "so expensive" when it's merely at the $40 launch price (it is easily found from the NisA store with free shipping and no taxes in most states or on the PSN for digital copy). when I see that phrase I tend to think more like Lucienne’s Quest or the Danganronpa limited edition you know which are many times the original price.

It's "so expensive" when you have a budget of about $25 right now. Usually I'd agree with you and just pay the $40 but a little strapped right now.

Yeah, but if there was such a game, I'd call it "Borderlands."

Ahhh just playing, I know what you guys are really saying though, you wish that we were all playing this game.

Edit: By the way, Best Buy sent me an eMail giving me "10% off your next item," with a few brand restrictions in the fine print, it doesn't appear this is restricted to only big dollar appliances, valid until March 9th!

I still need to buy a vita. I still haven't opened my danganronpa limited edition... But apparently I can buy a vita if I sell both the first and second limited edition copies... But it would defeat the point I. Buying a vita if I don't have the games... lol if I find a copy of both new standard version I might just buy those and sell the LE... But I guess I'm going to save them for a rainy day. But the look great next to my steins;gate box and bravely default box too.

oh, I wasn't saying from a respective stand point that it wasn't expensive. I mean compared to something like Hate plus which is currently $2.50 it is indeed expensive. I had just seen that phrase thrown around a number of times in the last week for games that are at merely retail price, and finally commented on it when you said. As someone who has collections of japanese games it just always feels weird seeing that when I know my little red watch from virtue's last reward is way to freaken expensive at around $150.

anyways, it wouldn't be surprising if NisA put the digital version on sale in the next month or so, they are due to have some sort of random sale on their games as it has been a while.

You didn't play this?
That there made my day, thank you.

As for prices of games and what not. After you've bought a bunch of Steam games from Steam sales, $10 is a lot. You could buy like 10 copies of Bad Rat's on sale. Not that that's a wise decision, but yeah...

I am very much interested in an unopened Danganronpa LE--especially if your version doesn't have the infamous box fold or loose items in the sealed packaging.

I'm not sure the rules on soliciting and it doesn't sound like you're ready or in any hurry to move it, but when you do... I could even throw in an opened single-home once-inserted-and-once-removed regular edition of Danganronpa 1 for Vita.

Again no rush but when or if you do sell it, please at least direct me to a link or hopefully we can work something out and follow the site rules and proper channels in doing so!
