i know right, gaming is a hobby to me. and i am not a millionaire. no way i am spending $400 on that thing. when i can get a ps4 or xbox one at that price.

I wouldn't even expect Best Buy to get any of them. With as rare as it is, I'm surprised that they're not exclusive to the 2K online shop.
 
Why are people complaning about the price? Buy 3 or more of them with GCU if you can and you will make 2x your money back on ebay! This is LIMTED GUYZ. Right?

I was thinking the same thing this time around, as the steelbook is nice, though a copy with the standard edition of the game looks like a reasonable compromise. Statue looks nice as well, though not getting a $30 discount with GCU on it makes it less palatable.

I don't think the people at BB ever thought GCU would be saving someone $80 on a single item purchase, though I think $50 on the $250 CE's out there is nutty enough.

This won't be going anywhere for sale save the 2K online store and maybe GS. I doubt GS will get it, though they would be the only one at B&M that might carry it. Hell, it may be GS online only like they've done with a couple of CE's in the past.

Even with the GCU discount and $30 certificate I redeemed, ~$90+tax (factoring in the $10 in points for preordering) still seems a bit high compared to ~$37+tax when all that's really different is the statue. I don't have a place to put the thing anyway.

More like $48 - $10 cert from purchase - $30 cert you had, so that looks like $8 + tax with a steelbook sounds like a damned good deal to me.

I'd be pretty surprised if we don't see a revision to GCU policies in the near future that either 1) exempts LE/CEs from GCU, or 2) only discounts LE/CEs by 20% of the standard version price.

While I really want this to come out at BB for GCU, I think I'd prefer it on Amazon as I can apply credit easier to the PO on Amazon and that way I know I wouldn't get killed when it was released for the $400+ charge...

True, but didn't they sell out of the swag-filled Diamond Plate Loot Chests pretty quick? Those came out well after Borderlands 2 and didn't even include the game.

 
I wish this would list somewhere so I can go about my day.  I even tried to do the Canada one but they won't ship to the US.  The few extra dollars is worth not being tied to my computer all day.   I guess I can look around the room and see which shelf he would go best on.

Pretty sure those never really sold out. In fact, they are still available for sale on Amazon for MSRP sold and shipped by Amazon.

These will sell out. Borderlands has a large following... they made significantly more then 5,000 of the Loot Chest Editions across all platforms and people paid $300+ for those on the secondary market.

I'm surprised Amazon is carrying them (although no word if .com will get it). I'd expect this to be exclusive to the 2K/Gearbox store since the lithographs are duplicates of what are already being sold there (not to mention the steelbook is an exact copy of a Sam Spratt lithograph)

 
The loot crate chest for borderlands 2 did sell out.  thinkgeek I believe reproduced some of the chests with some stuff in it like codes.  Those did not sell out.  Stuff associated with an upcoming release sells out usually and goes for higher prices.  Outside that release window the demand is almost nonexistent because you are not being bombarded with hype for the game or various advertisements.

That's the second edition. The sold through the first edition of 1,000 or so very quickly. Not sure what Amazon is doing selling the second edition since it's a ThinkGeek product; but a lot of their stuff is now on the Amazon marketplace since ThinkGeek is running the TreeHouse Brand Stores.

Yeah Knight I did see the Canada links.  Even though it was a few dollars more I tried.  No US addresses though.  Amazon Canada sold out of the ps4.  Didn't check the others to see if they sold out yet.  

 
ive decided to stop buying CE's with exception of Majora Mask LE, i dont have enough room for all this crap

at the end of the day the game is whats most important, everything else is going to wind up in the trash or in storage one day

Yeah, as someone else noted earlier in this thread, I miss the days of CEs that were just an art book/deluxe case/soundtrack. Frankly, I don't display statues in my home and I don't really understand the logic of combining an expensive electronic toy with a game, but there is obviously a market for it as people keep running up the credit card bills to scoop this stuff up. I'm sure the Borderlands one will sell out quickly, but I really have no interest in it and it may just represent a tipping point where hardcore CE buyers have to evaluate if spending $400+ for a mass produced item they will use once and then stick on a shelf to gather dust is really worth it.

 
Has anyone ever actually had success receiving an e-mail through Amazon's "Alert Me" button?  I can't recall ever once getting an e-mail on an item I used it for lol.

Nope. I have selected that option maybe a dozen times in the past few years and never once received an e-mail. I wonder if you have to opt in somewhere on your account?

I think it's worth more than that. That two-wheeled T-Rex toy that was in the Target holiday commercials and is on shelves in every toy store sells for close to $100, and I think that is much smaller than this. Still, not enough to convince me to pull the trigger just yet. :) I'm hoping the collection lasts a while like the Panzerhund CE did for Wolfenstein, but I doubt it will (because it actually contains the game).

I have, but only once. I signed up for the Day One Edition of the Xbox One back before it was released. They sent an email a couple days before they re-opened preorders. They let everyone know they would be available again at a certain time on a certain day. Besides that, I have never received an email, and if I did, it was usually way too late.

In fairness though, the value or cost isn't necessarily or strictly determined by the size of an item like this. The features and technology as well as the build quality have to factor in. It's probably a blue tooth device since it can be controlled with a phone. Similar really nice R/C cars with lots of features that can be controlled by Bluetooth go for around $100-$150. Having said that, I'm not sure if this robot is more or less advanced than those items.
