I missed out on the Claptrap CE but I think there will be quite a few cancellations on Amazon by March. A lot of people order things on Amazon because they don't charge upfront. Resellers also do this as to see if their pre order can be sold on Ebay and if not, they cancel their order. A lot of collectors aren't willing to pay the $400 for this, and definitely not more which the resellers are hoping for. If there was 5000 made, I see at least a couple hundred being freed up by March.

lol i have to guard some of my CE stuff from her. She almost made off with my Kirby 20th anniversary plushie and a bunch of other stuff. I actually may get 2 copies of this so i get one too though. Anyone know if Best Buy is offereing the plushie with their preorder of story of seasons? I dont see it listed on their site

 
anyone know if all first print copies of Etrian Mystery Dungeon have the soundtrack with them? I notice Amazon and GS mention it, but was wondring if Best Buy would have it too since i get GCU. Their site mentions nothing of a soundtrack or anything

 
 After 7 glorious years on CAG, I must now admit that this place has gone to hell and is no better than SlickDeals. Cheapy and the moderators don't care anymore as they allow wars to break out more frequently as it is anarchy on the boards and it is more about hits and revenue for the website now as Cheapy has found some fame within the videogame industry and gets perks accordingly. The whole premise of CAG was just that... Cheap Ass Gamer and it was about finding discounted game deals on otherwise MSRP items and the community got along even though there would be occasional ribs at the expense of newer members as a rite of passage. However everyone was helped out by members as long as you were respectful.

Now there is this new generation of millenials that coincide with the assholification of America and the world for that matter. This generation feels entitled without paying their dues and we have seen these flippers now become hoarders and has brought this site down. There was a time that MSRP type "deals" would never be on this page and now it dominates the topics. People now use CAG as a way to get these new items and very few people help others out. A $400 collector's item no matter how rare would be reluctant to make headway on this site as people would still wait and the inventory would be out there. Now people see what others are doing and impulse buying and buying multiple copies and justifying their purchase by bragging and demeaning others. They love to boast about their conquests on this board now and rub salt in the wounds of others by insulting them and it is simply ridiculous.

So this item has a toy claptrap and recycled games and other trinkets and they limit it to 5000. This $400 purchase is not worth a PS4 or XB1 and in the old days, nobody on CAG would have shelled out that kind of money as they were devoted to deals. Since there is no pre-authorization, people can buy as many as they like with workarounds without any adverse effects.The fact is, very few people will actually keep this as it will be a resell investment to sell now or down the road but very few will keep this and even less will open up this $400 collector's edition. For all of the great things that CAG has done for people, I find it laughable that people continue to mock SlickDeals. This site is every bit as bad and if not, worse since SlickDeals and its members KNOW who they are and are not pretentious about it. People here are disingenuous and deceptive and try to pretend they are better than SD members, but the truth is, this new group of members and especially guests are resellers, trolls and hypocrites. They will not help out others and are using the board and its members to make a profit while pretending to be of moral character. It's a damn shame what CAG has become.

Honestly, I don't see much of a change. The only thing I notice is that over the last year the collector's editions have started selling out very quick.

People were all about reselling with the Wii and the 360 when they came out and people very rarely ever sent things out at cost to others. It is just now that you notice how people are more because of things like Skylanders and these collector's editions. People always talked about flipping, fought with eachother about how something costs too much, they print too many collector's editons (not not enough), and cleaning out clearance shelves before others get there.

I'm guessing the mods are volunteers and can only be on here so much.

I think it is that you are just looking at the past with some rose-tinted glasses.

Yes, there are a few that brag about hoarding and flipping, but I think the biggest issue is lurkers. You'll never hear from them. They just scan the boards, clog up the pre-orders, then run off to eBay.

That's why I think CAG should go back to what it used to be with membership required to be able to view thread posts. At least make the lurkers put a little effort in instead of staying as anonymous guests.

I like the idea but don't expect it to ever happen. CAG makes money from link referrals and ad views. Forcing registration would diminish revenue.
 
Anyone else talk about the fact that the bloodborne collector's edition is all stuff demon's/dark souls/dark souls 2 usually had at the same price of their $60 first print/pre-order copies?  I know that sounds a little entitled and they had no obligation of them to include that stuff at retail price in the first place, but even still it's kind of disappointing.

One game is more niche then the other.

While Demon's Souls was an epic game... IIRC Sony forced it to "Greatest Hits" status w/o actually reaching the sales standards. Good marketing by Atlus though to get people to be early adopters and buy the game at launch.

i guess ill just buy separately on ebay. hopefully i can snag one for $150ish...

after having played destiny so much, i just lost interest in borderlands...

 
I know there have always been flippers and people trying to make a buck at CAG's expense. However, items were more plentiful and would be restocked often as I never recalled items selling out so fast and not getting any restock like in recent times. You may have a few people buying a large number of items, but there always seemed to be enough for people to eventually get the item(s) they wanted even with the markup. We always had shitty people that did boast about their conquests, but it seems that almost all new members are not bringing much to the table and just rubbing it in and mocking others rather maliciously to the point of harassing. Recently with the newer CEs, Amiibos, 3DS Zelda, etc... we have more people just wanting to go out of their way to insult other people instead of helping out the members.

I agree that the lurkers are ruining this board more that we give them credit for. However, as long as there is no checks and balances, this will continue to be the case. We should make people take the time to sign up and that way we know who is on the boards. If you don't want to support this site and sign up, then you should not be able to view the boards as it is a privilege. However, the site flourishes with views and traffic so if we see half of the viewers are guests, Cheapy may not want to alter the policy. I think the site is losing the respect it once had as being "better" and a much nicer alternative to SDs when we have so many lurkers and even some members that are real asses and the ones that have integrity are being outnumbered.

Did any of those have a steelbook, though? I only recall DS2 having a steelcase for first-print/preorder copies.

Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition came with a slipcase that held a mini guide and also came with a pre-order artbook

DS1 Prepare to Die Edition came with a tin that held an artbook and mini guide

Dammit, saw this and was about to check over there for the Claptrap edition on my lunch break. I guess my Amazon notification if it ever pops back in stock is my only hope of getting this thing.

Even then I guess I'd have to hover over my email to make sure I'd get an order in for a second listing. Oh well, I guess.

 
Question: I ordered a batman LE and a kirby amiibo for pickup. The local pickup cancelled my kirby because it was not in stock. My paypal doesnt reflect any refunded $ though. This is the first ive shopped at walmart.com, am I suppose to see something there? How do I get my money back for that?

 
going to enjoy this fun phone call since I used a $10 reward cert, used $66 in gift cards and paid $8 out of pocket lol.  I am wondering how they will refund this.

 
Back to being sad. Not even an hour and a half after putting in my order, Gamestop calls. "Yeah, that sku apparently wasn't for pre ordering. Our bad. Come back and we'll refund you."

So glad I went out into a blizzard for that . . . Sigh.
 
I just called Best Buy and got Arkham (PS4) price matched.  They couldn't adjust my existing pre-order, so they placed a new one for me and I'll just cancel my old one.

 
Sweet was able to get them to PM even though it now shows out of stock on walmarts site.  Did not get my $10 cert back but they refunded me $18 flat on a new gift card they are sending me.

That's terrible a friend did a web in store earlier today I gave him a warning about what happened to you so far he hasn't been called.

but price doesnt matter anymore. its sold out! bleh..

i shouldve just preordered on amazon. then when i get it, sell everything but the claptrap
