This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

I'm pretty sure one of the regulars should get some sort of payment for these shirts being sold.

I need one

So Groupees BAGB 5 haunts me yet again:

1.  Scroll though list of Steam weekly deals

2.  Click through to the Spice Road store page

3.  Notice that 35 of my friends already own this game

4.  Wonder which bundle it was in

5.  Click on jshackles ES feature #73: Number of times this game has been in a bundle

6.  Silently scream and faux-poke out an eye

OMG was this some endless bundle that magically contained all greenlight games past, present and future?  Will this bundle continue to kick my arse out of spite for holding back my money?

Make it stop!  I'm running out of eyes!

If no one's PM'd you Spice Road yet, I'll give you my extra.

Apparently I missed that one too. On the plus side, I checked Groupees to see whether I was one of the 35 that had Spice Road and found three unused Steam keys.

75% off Civilization titles (Also available Mac flavored.)
Current Voucher: 20% off JBTBG5-7GVTE8-W2YXRV (Expires 3/20 1600 UTC)
There's a 22% off coupon too ... 22SLIC-KDEALS-EXCLUS

No idea when it expires though but it just worked when I bought the last two Civ V DLCs I fancy, Americas and Mediterranean.

Speaking of Civ. Civ 3 just had its MP reinstated.

Not that any of us play games.
Did not know they put that on Steam. I bought a small boxed copy awhile back from one of those bargain book places that also gets random software in for $1 to look nice on my shelf. Seriously it's still in it's plastic wrap.

I highly recommend this Shantae game on sale for $2.50. Music alone makes it worth it.

You can get MP working with boxed copies if you contact them. http://steamcommunity.com/games/3910/announcements/

Don't know if that involves giving you files manually or just giving you a complimentary Steam copy.

It only took them several years to fix the game. A Linux version is coming soon, too.

He's too busy with:

Except the media didn't get the whole story: he's distracting the homeless with food while he spoders their Steam keys.

Because I know you guys care about my Cities escapade:

I have resolved the education issue.  I created an area in gray for education.  My workers then populated the industries.  After they were hired, I then built an elementary.

I eventually unlocked university and put it as far from that section of the city as possible.

So I got a dam.   I thought, that it would be fun.  So I picked a river about 8 of my city blocks away from any city.  I played with the placement of the dam.  In most spots it was only 4-8Mw.  But one spot I was able to get 140-180Mw.  Awesome right?  Well it provided it at first, for about 7 days.  Then for some reason, the dam randomly stopped allowing water to flow through it.  It THEN proceeded to flood all of my high-income/high population housing.  So I delete the dam, close up the houses.  It took almost a full year (in game) for the water to dry up.

Google'd it and apparently dam's are worthless.  They don't flow right and it's been known since beta.

Just one more thing that pisses me off about this game.  So here I am building my 5th coal powerplant....

Is now the time I say Thank God I don't live in PA because those people are screwing up real life worse than my own video game? Last year Harrisburg's graduation rate was 42.5% (source: PDE, School Performance Profile - Harrisburg School District 2014, November 6, 2014 ). So by those standards I am a freakin City Einstein.

guess i should've put my post in ycs

Stories about people playing games are often more fun than actually playing said games.

I had a lot of fun impregnating my wife in Crusader Kings II, only to have her bumped off when I'd sired enough offspring to pop an achievement. That act in itself generated another achievement.

I probably shouldn't read into it too much.

I just started Endless Space myself, and have no idea what I'm doing. Anyone have any tips? I went with Empire for my first game.
Just expand and take whatever you can along the way. Keep your ships up-to-date (there's an auto-upgrade option to make sure the blueprints are kept modern). Stay clear of pirates as they'll kill you and report you to Playfire.

Took me five attempts to actually do well in Endless Space. While its a great universe, I found the gameplay lacking.

Dungeon of the Endless is where it's at.

Question to the Dead Rising crowd.

I have a high level character who I got "stuck" with. I want to start a new game with him (he's like level 20 or something).

Is there a way I can do that WITHOUT popping all of the Steam achievements he's (probably) earned?

In some ways I'd rather keep no achievements and start afresh. Achievements keep me going in a game like DR2.

Here's how I play Endless Space:

  1. Scout the systems nearby for cool planets to exploit
  2. Exploit planets
  3. Bump into Space Pirates
  4. Realize I forgot to develop any sort of offensive or defensive capabilities
  5. Try space combat anyway
  6. Realize I should run away from Space Pirates instead of fighting them
  7. Discover neighboring system populated by race with insanely advanced warships
  8. Start new game
  9. GOTO 1

That's probably not very helpful, but I really like the exploration and exploitation parts of Endless Space.

The only way to tell if this story was better will be for me to actually impregnate your wife and compare the experiences.

You have to affirmatively migrate your old character by installing GFWL. So, yeah, you can just only install the Steam version and start over.
