This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

First of all, props to you guys that are able to stalk the Steam discussion boards like that. It seems like someone is always right on top of it as soon as a developer starts slinging the bullshit about not handing out keys.  :applause:

It looks like I'm in limbo, having bought the game via Indie Gala Monday Bundle 21. I'm glad you all were able to nudge them towards distributing keys to the site, but I'm really saddened that -- yet again -- they choose to go down that road. Further proof that developers mostly make shitty PR people and have no business interacting with the general public. Look at the language he used:

"The following bundles or stores are not awarded with Steam keys"

Well, excuse me, but he's posting in a public forum to people that paid money for those bundles, and speaking to an entity that is not even present (Indie Gala). I am not a bundle or a store, but a customer. If he has a dispute with the store with which he entered into contract, then he should be talking to them directly. Not in a passive-aggressive way on a public forum in which he is holding his own customers hostage. We are not negotiating tools, and I resent being used as one.

I will wait patiently for my keys as the card market tanks. I will idle your stupid game for my cards. Then I will turn them into gems so that (hopefully) he gets zero percent from the non-sale of said cards.

And then I will banish your game into backlog hell.

Man, what I said early but more eloquent. *slow claps*

Haha, oh I see the confusion. I was asking about that Tales of Maj'whatever game.

Thanks funny. Didn't notice the pixeljunk games below it.
ToME is one of the few classic roguelikes that's still being worked on appreciably. I've never played it myself, but you can get the non-+1 version free from the dev's site if you want to try it.

Gauntlet is $4.99 on Bundle Stars.

Apparently the best price ever. Whatever, I may buy it.
I've had a great time with Gauntlet. I got frustrated with it initially, playing solo, but dropping it down to easy allowed me to build up skill levels and equipment. Now normal mode is completely playable alone.

Having said that, it's a great deal of fun (and a lot easier) with four players. Each class has a lot of optional attacks. The wizard is especially complex (think Magicka-lite). You can play it like a mindless button-masher, but you'll do better if you learn how to fully control your character. I also found it easier to play with a controller (twin sticks ftw).

The Necromancer DLC is just a new character class. I use her quite a bit, but I'd consider buying it only when it's on sale and only once you tire of the other 4 classes.

y wud u play it solo??? Necromancer seems like it'd be an important DLC to own to me, all of the other classes except for Wizard tend to be boring IMO.

Having said that.. I'm waiting for Necromancer to be 75% off.

It's actually a fairly well renowned rogue like. Whether you like the old school style rogue likes (I get the impression most people don't) will determine if you like it or not. It's pretty high quality for what it is though

I'd play it solo because Gauntlet MP is not unlike Borderlands in that you ultimately go farther when you play cooperatively, but the loot is not instanced... and I'm a greedy mofo. Also, sometimes I just can't be bothered to scrounge up other players and I don't enjoy joining other games with random people as a general rule.

As far as other classes being boring, well... YMMV. I found there was a good deal of depth for a top-down shooter. Most characters have 3-4 attacks and a defensive move. The Necromancer is a somewhat difficult class to play because her primary attack requires you to be at a precise distance, facing a particular way, in order to score a hit. Her powers, though, are terrific. She's highly-mobile and has solid crowd-control abilities. I personally enjoyed playing the Elf and Valkyrie (the Wizard is a little OP, imo) -- Thor, not as much -- so I got lots and lots of mileage out of the 4 main characters before I ever felt the urge to get the Necro DLC.

Damn, thought these were Corona Motorsport keys and didn't bother. You gotta tell us when you drop the good stuff, Coral!

I feel my library has been tainted by pro-Western propaganda.  I feel a strong need for Pro-Russian Separatist Ninja.

I actually really enjoyed this one when I played it a few years back as it has quite a few customization options - i.e. different classes with varying different machanics/playstyle along with enough talents to choose among within a class. The dungeons themselves are also quite fair as far as roguelikes goes so when you die you know it's your own fault.

Definitely try it out for free if interested. As far as I remember, the non-free version only adds a cheat "exploration" mode with unlimited lives that you dont really want to use anyway if you like roguelikes.

There's more than that:

http://te4.org/donate

If the game is enjoyable enough, I do recommend supporting the dev(s) to help continue development. It's cheap as shit currently to get donator status right now anyways.

Doom & Destiny on Steam now, and apparently on IGS now if you paid enough for it.

But now I can't even find out where purchased games are on the site. Seriously, where's the link I click? Help.

EDIT: Found an old email. Go to "Game Wallet." Still no idea where that is on the site...oh well.

It's in the upper righthand corner when you log in:

Uh, that's a weird one:

Their business model apparently:

Throw game in bundle

More bundles

even more bundles

offer it so cheap it's nigh worthless

Complain about not having any money and ask for donations.

If I got your game for a buck-fifty or less and already have the +1, you don't really have much leverage on me do ya? I could give them money OR I could use that money to get who knows how many more +1s from other bundles.

After all, it's not like it's about actually playing these games right?

They got posted really early yesterday. There might be a group for these sorts of announcements. :p

Also then the dev pulled drama about Indie Gala today and then (sort of) backpeddled.

Guess it's "actually finish games" week for me. Just wrapped up RE:R2, after finishing Unity last night.

I wouldn't really recommend it, unless you're a die hard RE fan, but I'm sure spoder is going to pop in later and disagree.

So what you're telling me is that you only finish shitty games you hate.

It's Starlaxis. Was a WGN greenlight game.

Was also in a bundle but the dev insisted it was a different enough game from the Desura version so they didn't give Steam keys, afaik.
