I have $460 in GS trade credits and I want to trade them in for Amazon GCs but what if they exclusively get the Red MGSV PS4... and no tax using trade credits in full... that's like $30 right there. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Don't you have a CC on Amazon? If it indeed comes Stateside and is an Amazon exclusive, you could always place the order without the worry of being charged right away. Then just convert the GS credit to Amazon and apply the GC on the preorder since Amazon allows for amendments on preorder.

EDIT:
AFAIK, you'd only pay tax on the cash-paid portion.
That's how it works here in IL.

He was talking about the possibility of that console being GS-exclusive.

I actually have like $700 Amazon credit on my account. That's my main place to buy things but GS are known for getting exclusives. (Blue PS3, Persona/SNES 3DS, MH4N3DSXL, etc.)

There's little to no worry that MGSV LE console won't make it here because MGS is huge in the US. I just fear they'll just give us a plain black console with the game.

We missed this already but bundle was with a handheld port so it was expected.

OK, Fist I am a PUR Pro member.  I called two stores and both told me slim only in trade.  However I decided to take a chance anyway, downgraded my PS3-Phat-80GB (MGS4 edition/backward compatible) from 640GB to 160GB drive, formatted it, grabbed a controller, power, AV, and USB cable.

District Main store, closest to my house had told me "slim only" over the phone, and would not offer the $175 trade..

Drove 5 miles away to the 3rd closest store and the guy says "no problem"  He proceeds to tell me that this PS3 originally came with a 40/60/80 due to the flip cover with 4 USB, but i play dumb "damn there are a lot of different versions huh?"  We get into a conversation about hardware failures on early model PS3 and 360s...

He says as long as it checks out for 160GB it's fine.  So he proceeds to boot it up, checks the storage, loads GOW3 to test the BluRay and says, OK.  Then he says, "oh you have the free year PS+ coupon" (printed from my PUR account) and he grabs one off the shelf, but then realizes it will print on the receipt as he's trying to ring it, which it did.

Deduct an additional $80 store credit from my PUR account and I'm out the door for $176.xx including:

-New PS4

-1 Year PS+

-Last of Us Remastered code

-$10 PSN store credit code in box

Cannot complain about this deal at all and will be giving positive review to Steven per receipt.

Nowhere else I can get $175 for an 8 year old PS3.  I kind of miss the old beast though LOL

the 80 gb metal gear actually can still go for $200+ online if you have the original box. I sold mine for $270 last year but that's only because it was in great shape and had everything. same goes for the 40 gb gunmetal gray.

I thought the MGS PS4 LE was already announced and its asia only?
MGSV is a huge franchise in the US so it is likely. I believe every single special edition MGS bundle(PSP, PS3) made it over here but Sony of America tends to wait closer to release for the announcement because they don't like to tank current sales. Considering a big suite from Konami is also begging Sony, nothing is set in stone just yet but it is expected. The reason why this may not make it over is if MS pay Konami for marketing rights.

OT question, Can I pick up my friends Borderlands pre-order for him at gamestop if he gives me the receipt? It has his name on it so Im not entirely sure.

common sense says no, but anything could happen depending on the employee
yeah, I think I'll give it a try and maybe have them call the number on the receipt to confirm that he wants me to pick it up. If not then he'll have to wait until the weekend to play.

Far as I know the preorder is tied to his PUR card so as long as you have that *or his phone number so they can look it up* you'll be able to pick it up. Unless of course they know your friend personally. But it probably won't be an issue.

Funny story , I call my home store and ask if they're doing a midnight release on Bloodborne . Kid answers with the normal spiel about pre ordering Bloodborne . I ask if they're doing the midnight release and he says " umm , I'm not sure my manager will be here in the morning you can call back and ask him ". Face palm !

"Did you have a Bloodborne midnight opening last night, I might go if you do"

Trials Fusion (ps4) trades in for $16.50 (with PU), could get 2 copies of this titles for $20 at target. Bit of profit and  also you get yourself a season pass x2.

It shocked me a gamestop employee was unaware of whether not a midnight release was happening and even more so they didn't know the release date of a major console exclusive. The guys at my store are all pretty sharp , they're all cool with me too . I know they got a new asm and I didn't recognize the kid's voice , it makes me worried it was him .

They don't get paid to be smart, they get paid to sell you used copies of Imagine Horsez for $4.99.

It's not that he didn't have an answer to your question, it's that he was a complete idiot.

"Hey, are you guys doing a midnight release tonight for Bloodbourne?"

"Would you like to pre-order Bloodbourne?"

"No, I already did. I'm asking if you're doing a midnight release tonight."

"I dunno. Let me ask my manager tomorrow."

What the actual fuck?!

Does gs still take the generic 360 slim adapters from amazon? I found one at hpb for $10.
Some will say official only so YMMV really depends on the employee but most from my experience take third party ones.

I think I got screwed, I did a trade in, return and a purchase. Is there anyway to fix the situation? For the trade in the person put me trading two copies of each game I traded in so I traded in 20 apparently, Secondly on my game return they did the amount without the PUR discount included so I got more back then I paid for it and lastly on my purchase he selected me buying two of the same game. I made out ahead overall but I think the new POS system is making things crazy difficult for people.

If you came out ahead, fuck it.

You're gonna spend more time and gas fixing it than it is worth.

You'd think that SHOULD be the way it works since you'd be taxed on a non-cash transaction but if your state does that, good on ya! Our state taxes the whole thing even if credit is used in its entirety. I've mentioned it to the DM before to have him look into it, but he just came back with "don't know what to tell ya, its how the system works".

Not sure if people know but I read on gamefaqs you can now convert pur points into xbox live and psn currency.
What?!? Really!??!! I've got well over 100k points that I haven't used yet, is the exchange rate good? (its GS we're talking about here, so I think I already know the answer to that question).

That's what's supposed to happen in most states, mine included. The OP lists states where trade credit isn't taxed.

Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia

Does Not Charge Sales Tax on Credit Purchases: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
May or May Not Charge, Depending Upon County: Florida,
I think Winter mentioned he lives in New Jersey so he's good. Also he mentioned that if he paid with credit in full that there would be no tax. If that was the case, a partial credit would mean partial tax. It's also worth it to note that in California (probably all states) if you have a $X off coupon you will only be charged tax on the remaining price. I think of California as having the most aggressive sales tax laws (maybe most aggressive state tax laws) so if they don't do it, probably no one does.

It's not terrible , for 10$ psn/xbox currency it costs 11'500 points . For 3$ in psn/xbox credit it's 3,900 points ...which is actually pretty terrible . I'm not even sure why they decided to offer it in 3$ increments.

If I trade in my Xbox 360 Slim, does the controller HAVE to be wireless? I only have a wired one for it. (3rd party at that)

[/QUOTE]I usually get the preowned $XX off ones. $25 off preowned for 20,000 points is pretty good

Does anyone know the specifics on power supply trade ins?

I just bought an off-brand Xbox One power supply because mine was giving me troubles, then I realized that it was the outlet messing up and not the supply. I'd rather keep my OEM power supply but definitely do not need two, so I was debating of trading it at GameStop for the advertised $33 (with PUR).

Does it matter if it's an off brand, or are they supposed to check for such a thing?

Slims require a Microsoft-branded wireless controller of any color. Any system requires a standard controller made by the 1st party (PS3/PS4 requires official Dual Shock or Sixaxis controllers, for example). Too many people returned systems before because they didn't like the controller.
