Late response as I don't frequent this thread often anymore.

I've set local passwords on phantom accounts to prevent my son from logging into them and have never had a problem with the game.

You guys losing your phantoms:

Check the new power settings. You might have been still logged into the accounts on power save mode or something.

 
It appears sony can see if a (phantom) account in your ps4 got reset, and if so, and you are unlucky enough they are checking your ps4, you will lose it. Because all my phantoms that were not yet reset by the hosts, still work.

Why they check your ps4 could be random, trigged by too many accounts in your ps4, could even be a BUG... nobody knows, i guess.

One of my accounts was from months ago. The two from this week, I was definitely logged out of as I powered down after installing and started up again to make sure I was logged out.

My phantoms are okay. I also think that they some how got power cycled through the users when the ps4 was updated. Maybe some people that update in stand by had that happen?

in regards to the losing phantoms

If a phantom was give him access to the account to restore license would that work?

I assume they would NOT activate as primary.

Or will that just fuck up everything and screw over the phantom as logging into PSN deactivates the original activation?

May someone with more experience can chime in.

What is going on with the web store right now? :( I can't log in at all to buy a game for an account. If I can get in I will have the following:

Citizens of Earth - PS4
Phantom $4

Also, this play-as-you-download gimmick is garbage. I have tried it with 2 games so far - Wolfenstein and now Hardline - and both of them have let me play about 10 minutes before saying you have to finish the download now. I had Hardline 70% done and they can't optimize it to have at least one chapter downloaded and ready by that time?

These downloads are so large that timeshares almost need to be 8 days to cover the download day, LOL.

The only way to get rid of a locked game "lock" is to reactivate the ps4 as the primary system for the account or play online under the locked account. Once you log onto a phantom again, the system instantly recognizes your system is not the primary ps4 and that the account has a ps4 primary elsewhere. Restoring the licence of a locked game without activating the primary ps4 again leaves the locked game still locked because you download a locked licence.

Does PSN have a limit of not being able to add 2 $20 codes within 20 minutes or so?

It keeps asking if i want to add $20 but then says failed on web and ps4.

So really the only option would be for the resell owner to let the phantom owner reactivate six months later but risk losing out an a sold phantom slot, which many wouldn't want.

I haven't got round to playing my ps4 in a month, so this gives me nerves for updating it and potentially lose my phantoms.

 
Well my bloodborne and BL THC phantoms just showed up as locked for me..

I updated to 2.50 several days ago.. what the fuck happened???

Just basically lost $50 down the drain..

Edit: as I mentioned below, I've been recently keeping my PS4 on standy due to the suspend/resume feature.. maybe this has something to do with it?

Also, I update to 2.50 the day it was available, and my phantoms were fine for several days.. up until now... 

I know how the system works, so I was logged out and all that snazz ( passwords on shares were changed, etc )

Just kind of fucked up

This is crazy all these phantoms locking. Something is going on. Are there any reports from other sites that this is widespread?

Really pissed... I did host both of the groups for Bloodborne and Borderlands THC, so I might try contacting the resells and see if they're ok with me doing the naughty naughty and get my phantoms back...

Just really sucks because it's $50 down a drain. I don't have that much free cash to spend because of the upcoming wedding... and I can't afford to rebuy these games :/

I use my PS4 on standby when I'm downloading games at night. Never had a phantom lock out though. I have had Driveclub & GTA V phantoms from day 1. Did you sign out the phantom user account from PSN before deactivation? Not log off.

Weird. I'm sorry to hear that man.  I also lost phantoms of Bloodborne, Battlefield: H, GTA, Driveclub & Helldivers. That was during the HDD backup/restore.

Can you please PM me the naughty naughty process?
 
I'm wondering if using rest mode/suspend has anything to do with it. The only time I actually shut the system off is when I log out while I'm being phantomed. Every other time I use rest mode. I've have yet to use suspend/resume though.

I use rest a good deal during the day now that I am home for a while. Use it to keep ds4 charged. Shut down at night. I have two phantoms and all is well so far. But they are not popular. Risk and tlou.

Seems to be games played a lot now. I wonder if it is something with both phantom and resell playing at same time? Perhaps on a locked slot?

Not saying anyone has anything to do with the locked slot. Just exploring options.

There has to be a common theme to all this as to why it is happening to some and not others.
 
My DBZ Xenoverse isn't locked, I've used both rest mode/suspend and completely shut down my PS4. I haven't logged onto the Phantom account since I downloaded the game a couple days ago.
