This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

I almost never do.  But given how shitty their sales have been the last few years and since I already had U-Play installed... why not.  Maybe they'll surprise me and it'll be $5 during Steam sale but I highly doubt it.

I'm probably the only one here that uses a lot of different clients - EA Origin, UPLAY, GOG Galaxy, Steam, whatever.
It's not like GOG Galaxy does anything. I had to apply Witcher 3 patches manually every patch so far. Always tells me there's an update when there's not.

Most people are used to Steam.

yea, I know, I was just teasing him haha

I have no issues at all using another client as I have plenty on uPlay and Origin, Ive not ventured outside of those 3 though.

Did you know for most games uplay downloads dvd-files and installs from that?

Also you may need to update old style, by downloading patches from websites.

most people won't even consider games outside of steam.

just read some of the pc games review on amazon.com.
But then again, amazon reviews.. you also have the "Do not buy, this game does not work, all I got was this CD key with no installation!" reviews there...

GOG Galaxy still feels like it's in Beta.

Like yourself, I've DL'ed all of the W3 files + patches manually, as well.

but with every new release of pc games, I have seen on different sites asking does it come with steam key? no steam key no buy. because all my friends/ or games are on steam

That's what you get for using Uplay without Steam
For $6 in a sale kind of quickly for a retail store, that deal from BB for Watch Dogs PC is a hard one to resist. It's worth it, if you ask me.

Especially if you've used UPLAY or have it already installed.

UPLAY isn't anything good, mind you - but it's now at least somewhat functional.

Plus, Steam-version deals on UbiSoft's games ain't been happening as good, as much and as often, of late. They've been giving much better discounts on UPLAY-versions, hoping to probably lure some people over to their side of the fence.

I'm confused why we're talking about things other than Steam.  The PC (politically correct... not PC Master Race) police is the reason this went from the Steam thread to a generic everything PC thread.  UPlay still sucks... it probably always will.  And how's Desura working out?  Steam is tried and true.

Not entirely true.

While yes, it did this for things like Splinter Cell Blacklist, literally every single release I've gotten as a uPlay only version since the time frame Blacklist debuted has downloaded/installed concurrently like on Steam, same with updates. They may have even updated Blacklist since, but Im not sure.

Download just gave me a drop down menu that had one option that had to do with enabling updates and not actually installing.
Double-click on the icon for the game you want.

Look at the left pane.

Download should be there as an option, if you ain't DL'ed it

Click that "Download" word - and watch it download/let it download.

In upper-right hand corner, you can always click "Download" and see how your DL is going.

If you have DL'ed the game already, Download option on left pane is gone. it should say PLAY instead.

B/c this is the Steam+ thread - emphasis on +.

It's going to be Steam PLUS anything else on the PC.

We're going to have more than Steam talk in here, since this is Neuro's excellent creation - so we don't have 666,666,666 different threads on PC gaming deals.

I mean - do you really think a UPLAY Thread or ORIGIN Thread would even take off on its own?

I certainly don't.

I'd be the only one probably posting in those threads.

Download seemed to magically work now. But now it's installing again apparently not recognizing the physical install.
Did the retail copy come w/ a key-code in the box on a sheet, in the manual, or something?

If you have a decent Internet connection - I would've just activated the key on UPLAY. Screw the retail box install!

It only is taking up 14GB of space here - wouldn't be a long-winded DL here.

In the upper right hand corner of UPLAY, there's a GEAR icon.

Click that, then "Activate product".

Throw in the key.

That's how I activate UPLAY game-keys I have bought not directly from UPLAY - i.e. from Amazon DVG, NewEgg, or wherever.

Yeah, I activated it on U-Play but clicking on download various ways did nothing at first.  So I used the CDs, installed, and hoped U-Play would recognize it on the HD.  It didn't.  Mashed the download button some more and finally got the option to download it... so now I have two installs!  Twice the goodness.

Id be in there when it was time to talk about Ass Creed.
Only thing is - well, UPLAY doesn't have a lot of great deals, IMHO.

CAG Mods might not like that.

We might have more A-Creed talk than anything else, if we had a "UPLAY Gaming Deals Thread" - especially since Ubi can't stop popping-out AC games like crazy.

Did you go to Windows' Control Panel and remove where the disc-version originally installed Watch Dogs?

If you DL'ed Watch Dogs from UPlay already, I'd stick w/ that version.

Why have the damn thing installed twice + wasting precious HDD space?

You can always click the GEAR; check Settings; check Downloads sections; and set where you want UPLAY to actually download Temp installer caches files + actually set where the installed games always will go.

I'll get to removing stuff eventually.  I have quite a bit of space left on my HD.  I only keep games I'm currently playing installed.

That humble bundle is fantastic for anybody who has a time machine and decides to go back in time and not purchase any of the bundles those games were in!

I could imagine you still installing from disc because you're MysterD. Don't dash my dreams.

I didn't have any issues downloading from Uplay w/o using the disc. I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that using Uplay is like second nature to me now.

Oh and lately with newer games they don't download the original release install and then patch it just downloads the latest version like Steam.

Once I got faster Internet, I prefer to do the activate by code + then DL thing directly from the client. Much easier.

Especially since I don't have a GB limit cap currently, thankfully.

For different reason, can't you feel both proud and embarrassed?

Proud for figuring out how to use UPLAY and embarrassed that you're actually using UPLAY (instead of Steam, in this instance).

Hey, for $6 - that was a great deal for you and that's good enough for now, right?

I noticed that Neuro and Foxhack have both achieved level 100 for Steam meaning well over 400 badges crafted.
Actually Steam doesn't count each level of a badge as a different badge. So a level 5 badge is still counted as 1 badge (foil badges are counted as a separate badge though). Steam lists me as having 250 badges crafted, but I'm only LV 124 (apparently I've crafted well over 100 LV 5 badges).

No idea since Loom is actually a good game.
Damn right it is. Playing Loom is one of my earliest PC gaming memories.

Ok, so I thought when I bought the season pass for Darksiders 2 many, many moons ago, I was getting ALL the dlc, but, so, wait... that wasn't the case? Nearly none of the dlc that is now on sale says "In Library" beside it. Can someone confirm which is the best DLC I should get, even though I'll surely never play it?

I think Arguls Tomb & Death Rides have content and others are some (useless) starter items.

Steam Inventory Helper.

Something like: select everything -> sell -> adjust price -0.01 (1 cent below highest sell order) -> submit -> wait.
i tried this (thanks man.. save me some times to list cards) and then got a message saying that I can't list more than 200

So for those who have tons of card to sell, how many cards do u list at one time and how often to do u list (once every other day? once a week?)

thanks
