Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

Crux attained. Croata is so much less of a pain...so unfair if you never had to do it before. Thanx Matt and NJ for slacking to make room for me.

My research is showing that PSN is mostly down for primarily PS3 users, apparently PS4-bros are still able to log in no problem.

The one day I've got the majority of it available to play Destiny this week, and this shit happens...

On the bright side, i just broke 3300 dust in Hearthstone and have about ~300g already piled up in preparation for the new expansion!

Whhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm just glad that someone got something they needed/wanted. I've been actively on the hunt for a Fatebringer and Crux for months (doing each raid 3 times a week) and cannot get either to drop for me.

I always feel bad when I get another Vex, Vision of Confluence or *cough* Gjallyhorn *cough* when someone else would be happy to get it (I have seen Gjallyhorn dropping more often lately. At least 5 in the past few days after not seeing it drop for weeks).

I got it the first run too...

Ignatia got bumped and got no loot so we did a 4th Croata so he could get loot.

No. Land. Beyond. It was the funniest shit ever.

You're welcome. ;-) I had stuff come up in the afternoon and wasn't able to get on at all last night. Ended up being up til almost midnight, too.

All I want for my birthday is 3 Nightfalls. Yeah, I'm totally using that as a way to try to convince people to play those with me!

I don't know when it happened, but I have the Necro and 2 extra cruxes of Crota which are just using space

Well It really doesn't make sense to have more than 1 Necro. See if you get materials or something for discarding them. I assume you will get nothing (or maybe a little glimmer).

It was like my 25th Hard Crota completion...Thats a lot of crota especially since all but a few were before the newest dlc when it was actually a huge pain in the ass to finish him. He wanted to give me something special for our silver anniversary.

After the raiding I got back online and I got my (nick)elodian al-eye out of storage to find it had not been leveled at all. Shit pulls like a mofo and takes hours to kill something no wonder I hadnt bothered with it lol. I thought I was going to bed last night but instead did bounties to make room for IB bounties and then did Iron Banner till midnight with my clan...shit is addictive for some reason even though I dont even bother with regular crucible...

I noticed you cant ascend your eiodian ally...I was planning on keeping a husk, an eiodian ally, and a nechro but it seems like unless I want more nechro's there is not any reason to do that...i wish we could give people stuff I hate to delete two husks out of my vault when people are waiting for one...

Did some more Laggy Banner last night, but quit out after a while... it just got too annoying.

Switched over to kill Skolas and got zippo again.

Well, hopped back into IB near the end, in order to clean up the last couple of bounties, and things had improved.  Not great but tolerable.

Quoting system seems to be broken for me... so here's this po'boy version.

I don't know... a few of us were able to get in without issue.

There was even a frion sighting... but he must've seen his shadow because he was afk in orbit ;)

Yup, in reality it doesn't even make sense to keep the Necro :bs:
The weapon update address the Necro so it's not a compete POS. I want it for the Grimiore and to add to my collection of exotics. I have plenty to exotics I leveled but never use. With Bungie's need to nerf weapons, I figure the crappy weapons will be good eventually.

Noice... Bungie's finally doing something about the cheaters in PvP.

Bans for network manipulation are being issued in the Crucible. More details tomorrow in the Weekly Update.

Probably the best 3A sculpt I've ever seen, most of their stuff is simplistic 'minimalist" robots or basic-figure bodies w/ cloth clothing with a bunch of dry brushing and grime painted on.

Also ridiculously overpriced....I wonder why NECA or even McFarlane didn't try to license Destiny. Oh well....

My internet has been going off/on all day, I'm betting because of the huge influx of traffic for the summer.

I'm sure these "bans" are going to be just like they did when Trials started. Ban people for a couple days from Crucible and then let them back on. They'll hit people hard for a day and then forget about it for months.

Maybe, but this will also get the casual cheaters to reconsider.

As long as I get a fair shake at Trials, I'll be happy... find out in 24hrs

Ignatia and Gujimmy were getting bumped off line over and over last night with caterpillar errors...but they both had the same ISP...Time Warner maybe???

I was fine on cox, but at one point all of us had to restart to reconnect to destiny to do the 4th run...

Those guys were terrible. Hey lets split up and take him on one by one. lol Could have won easily if they just rushed all together.

Still impressive though.

I started a new character this morning to get the grimoire card for the awoken. After the first mission I hopped into some crucible. I wonder how weird it is to see a level 3 running around with the cloak from trials.

I always forget how much I enjoy the beginning of the game. The level bar at the bottom is awesome, I wish they would bring it back and make levels focused on earning XP.

Yeah, I've been reading that it's gonna be something like level 30 for the character and then Light level would take you up to 40.

Guess that's info which will be confirmed during Gamescom next week.

Anyway, in spite of the lag I keep going back to IB.  Hit 3 on my titan last night then switched to my Warlock and quickly hit 2 1/4, because of the catch-up buff.

Think I'll only worry about taking the 'lock up to 4 (maybe 5) since that helmet is the only one worth getting.

And is this right... Trials is Burning Shine, again???

The number of posts on Reddit and Bungie.net where people are saying they got banned for no reason is hilarious. Especially when a ton of people use a name on those sites that match their PSN ID, and you can go on destinytracker to see they've won 100s of Trials matches with 0 kills.

I love when people think they're super smart and just have it thrown back in their face.

I wish Bungie would implement a separate playlist for crucible newbies. Pretty much the playlist could only be used by those with 1500 Grimoire or lower. I think Cod World at War had this since there is a leveling system.

Scoreboard for my team earlier today.

Langdon who are you playing with man??? What is the modifiers on him this week? I might be able to help try this weekend...but tonight I need to start grinding IB XP...

edit: its brawler and juggler...should be pretty easy to deal with since you dont have to deal with lightswitch and shit like that...What classes were you running and was everyone 34?

The wife and kids were out of the house this afternoon so I tried it with 2 lfg guys. All 34's. I was running Hunter (spec'ed to max Armor) we had 1 Titan and 1 Warlock. Got to the 2nd round of mines on our first run but never got past the first round of mines after that. Strategy seemed solid except for the mines. They wanted to split up or have my Hunter run mines with my Super, but I couldn't get all 3 and deal with the Chalice grab/exchange. Just a lot of little stupid things kept holding us back, and it seems like you have to run damn near perfect on Skolas.

You monster.

So I ended up doing the Weekly and a Rumble match after you guys logged....no problems. If this even out as the night goes on, I'm going to chalk my issues up to the heat messing with the modem.

Whenever we do it we always stick together. If a man goes down we stop and wait till he is back up. Usually we take cover over by the right side after coming out of the door. No one can really get close to you and there are cover areas to just camp there. If things get bad we do a lap clockwise around the map to get ads away from that area or to kill some. I think the thing is to keep hitting skolas till ads come out then stop. kill all the ads and then go back to skolas. Once he is down to like 25-30% then kill all ads and move to the left side and unload on skolas until he is dead. This fight take a while but if you take it slow i think its pretty easy. Just take care of ads as soon as they come out and stop hitting skolas until they are all gone. I think that is important. Also having revive, bubble, or invisible supers are best. Last time we did it we beat him on the first try.

save your supers for when the mines come. Then you can revive if you die, use a bubble, or go invisible. I think when we did it we would defuse the mines together so its fast as possible. The second mines didnt come until skolas was dead so it was easy to defuse those.

So here's another question: Does the Variks armor with the various Fallen perks make a difference? I only have 2 pieces for my Hunter and Warlock, and none for my Titan. Should I focus on using either the Hunter or Warlock then?

For the Skolas fight, you gotta be aware of the main triggerpoints: breaking the bonds, 1st mine round, 2nd mine round.

The 1st mine round is the tougher of the two since there will definitely be ads out there to mess with you. They spawn in as soon as you trigger the mine round.

The 2nd mine wave should go easy if you kill skolas since that'll eliminate the ads.

Other than that, don't stay too long in one area (unless you have a rotation of 2 bubbles going) and coordinate your rocket attacks. Make sure everyone is fully loaded on rockets and has their super before you unleash your attack which will trigger the mine wave.

And you GOTTA stick together (save maybe during the mine dismantling). If one person's gonna be going alone to the other side of the map for mines, then coordinate it so that the person going is also the same one who just went immune.

Yup they can help but I focus first on having the best stats (int & disc) and exotic armor equipped then see if I can squeeze in the kellbreaker armor to make things better.

For example, my titans best PoE armor are the helmet (gives increased recovery and super recharge against fallen) and the chest (increased armor and melee recharge against fallen). But I don't use the helmet because I'd rather have helm saint-14 equipped for my bubble. I'm pretty much never going to use the arms perk (generate orbs from melee attacks) but still wear them because they're pure intellect and they work with my setup.

For the Hunter, I'll always go bladedancer class for all the invisiblity options. And I've got helmet, arms and chest pieces with fallen perks and good int/dis rolls, so I'll usually equip all three. I don't have boots with fallen perks so I'll just use whatever gives me extra heavy.

My 9 year old just got a Hopscotch Pilgrim from a Dragon Strike. Came equipped with Rodeo and Headseeker. I told him to hold on to that gun for dear life.

Good for him! I just love when weapons come with great perks from stock... I still have to suffer those strikes to get my hands on one of those, for now I can just see Jimmy's HP and cry on my inside.

The hardest part of Skolas is the first set of mines.  Don't trigger them until your team is ready.  The second set of mines is easy.  When Variks says, "DISABLE MINES YES OR DIE!" burn Skolas.  He will be at roughly 25-35% health at that time.  Unload homing rockets/black hammer/snipers until he dies.  After he dies, all the enemies will despawn and you can peacefully disable mines.

I like the fight in that you actually have to do the fight.  Most of the game is so cheesable.  People complain about the length of crota raid, then cheese every single part of it.  I mean, if you run it legit and never wipe it still goes fairly quickly, but most of the time somebody will mess up.

The VoG is only so much longer because there is a lot more walking/travel time.  The actual encounters are fairly short, especially if you fast method through them.

Anyway, I think I'm going to do some Iron Banner and VoG from Oracles later.

I think the first time I tried it we failed because a guy rage quit. I did it in 3 tries the first time we were successful and 2 the second...it gets easier...the problem with randoms is communication and unknown ability...people can sometimes missrepresent themselves. The warlocks pretended to have done it but needed instruction through the whole fight so they were fibbing so I would help... Fallen perks, arc shield breaking weapons, snipers and tracking rockets help. I swear doing it with two warlocks was so annoying but at least one of them usually could rez when they died out of the two. They also kept forgetting who was next in the rotation and would kill me by not taking the thing while I'm yelling their name and counting down 10..9..8...Sucks that you have had such bad luck with it.

Got my titan to the Lighthouse with a team of 2 guys who knew each other I found on Reddit. I can officially say I made it with each character at least once now.
