Humble Bundle Thread

Uh, just FYI, Sunstone is lesbian BDSM romance/smut.

Just... so you all know...
(It's also completely free online. Not even pastry-rodentia free. Just... free.)

by the way, the fact that you watched a Witchblade show, from the early 2000s, when you were a kid, makes me feel super old)
If it makes you feel any better, by "kid" I meant "early adolescent," and not, for instance, "toddler."

Edit: ARGH, SIFU'ED.

Thoughts on the games?
Kill Team is alright. Its a different kind of Warhammer game. No comment on the others. I'll prob buck in since I dont have Chainsaw Warrior or Talisman. I think the 2nd tier is a bit high price wise, but I can't comment on the quality of games, thats just initial reaction. Space Hulk Ultimate's historical low is $3.99 though and its got decent reviews. Guess thats dependent on your feeling of the genre.

Has anyone played Chainsaw Warrior?  What is it?  I think that's the only one that might interest me. I Gilby'd the $1 tier of whatever the last weekly was, but since I don't even remember what it was I assume it's no big deal.

I haven't played it, but it was in the Indie Royale Venetian bundle from late March. If I remember correctly, it's a pretty straight adaptation of some sort of board game.

The DLC or whatever that Lords thing is wasn't in that bundle, so this still might be worth dollaring in for me.

Most of the stuff in the $1 tier has been bundled before in various permutations. The Chainsaw Warrior games were a PWYW IGS deal. Talisman has been bundled a few times, but the Frostmarch Expansion was a higher tier item and the other expansions on offer haven't been, IIRC. Kill Team is a Warhammer 40K-themed twin-stick shooter, so if you like those, you may like it. I played a demo of it on the PS3 and discovered I'm not a big fan of twin-stick shooters. I don't know how well it plays with a KB+M setup.

Warhammer Quest and Space Hulk, like Talisman, are conversions of old tabletop board games, one set in the regular Warhammer universe (i.e., the Vermintide setting) and the other in the 40K (i.e., the Dawn of War setting). This is pretty cheap for Space Hulk, but it got mixed to negative reviews on release and the dev pulled a Planetary Annihilation a little while later and said, "Here's a new game that we think fixed all of the problems with the old one" and came out with Space Hulk:Ascension. You can still buy regular Space Hulk for $5 cheaper than the new and improved version.

The Last Stand is a pretty popular MP mode for Dawn of War II: Retribution that Relic released as a standalone title once they figured out just how popular it was. Basically you pick a commander unit from one of several factions, load him up with wargear and fight a series of swarms of enemies in a kind of horde mode with two other players. You gain experience based on how long you survive (there are 10 waves) and as you level you gain access to more and fancier wargear (much as in the full game).

If you like these kinds of games, it seems like a pretty good deal.

Okay, Talisman is Monopoly only instead of buying property you collect magic crap and sometimes get turned into a frog much to the delight of everyone else at the table.

This is a truly terrible game that should only be played with a group of bros who are capable of making even a root canal entertaining because it is not clever or fun otherwise. The digital port is phenomenal in quality though I have not tested online. Still, the port misses the whole point. There is no damn way to enjoy this shitheap of a game without gasping, guffawing, cheering, booing, hooting, and hollering at the highs and lows with a bunch of bros. Nobody gets excited when you land on someone else's hotel and have to pay them kajillion bux except that it makes Monopoly end faster. But at least in Talisman there exists some thrill of beating down the bard and taking his crap and then killing everyone with the crown of command.

Chainsaw Warrior is Talisman for people who don't have bros. Instead of rolling dice to see if you can get magic crap or get turned into a frog, you just roll dice to see if you beat the monster on the card, then you draw another monster and do it all again. It is the most basic, simplest solitaire game I have ever seen and has absolutely nothing approaching a meaningful decision for you to make except on the easiest difficulty where gear is not randomized. It is somehow worse than Talisman.

I've played it multiplayer, and it's pretty stable and is pretty enjoyable because of the shittalking and and general screwing one another over. It also saves your game pretty well, so playing an hour or two over a couple nights works well when you can assemble some players. Especially fun when all the human players squabble and then the one AI player mops up all the items left by dead players on the map and walks to the crown.

That sounds like the kind of "screw you" fun my friends could get behind. Is the extra content in the $6 tier worth it/necessary to give the game more variety?

Unless your friends really get in to it and play it constantly, absolutely not. The base game and Frostmarch should be enough for a fair number of games. And even if you did get tired of it only one of you would have to bite the bullet, because Talisman shares the host's content with all the players. So everyone playing needs a copy of the game, but if the host has the season pass for example then everyone can play all the expansions if that's how the host sets the game up.

so i take it TALISMAN is very boring in single player and more tolerable in multiplayer with friends?

I remember that me and my friends used to "rent" crap game for the Xbox 360 during the slow period of release and played through them.  Even with the crappy Terminator game back then, it was fun to mess around with friends.

I think douchypie hijacked Rolling Skull's account. brb paging the mods.

How do you give away keys? Do you just copy/paste the key in the text box and give it to somebody, or do you actually have to click on the little "gift box" icon?

Re 2 ep 1 hook a bro up
I'll copy/paste the key from the "Click the button to redeem on Steam" text box. Should hopefully work, instead of clicking on the "gift box" icon. Let me know if you're able to redeem it after I PM you the key (wanna make sure the method I described works before sending keys to other people).

Edit:

Thanks motoki.

I finally donkeybro'd the Capcom bundle and gave all the money to Capcom because they support Capitalism and Commerce which are the tenets of any good economy so I know my money will tinkle down their pants legs and onto the floor.

What was the verdickt on the weekly?  Yah or Nae Nae for the $1 tier?

Oh boy don't get crazy there Humble.
At this rate they're not even going to reach their first milestone.

I suspect tomorrow or the Weekly will be a Spooky Humble. They already hinted they're adding Evil Dead books to the books bundle on Wednesday.

Groovy.

I'm not sure if you meant "add as second-week bonuses" or not, but Army of Darkness is Dynamite not Top Cow, so it would have to be a completely separate bundle. And they would do this on the week I'll be out of town for two days (and before I get paid!!). Grr!

Being broke never stopped someone from getting bundle stuff. Just ask Bobby.
