y u no unlock them before???

They changed it so you have to idle each game for 2 hours before you can unlock cards, since games with under 2 hours of play can be refunded. Sounds like you have a lot of idling to do!
That's smart and dumb.
I got Metal Slug 1 from humble (actually trading), so I cant refund it anyways.

And I'm bored of it at 90 minutes, got 0 cards.

Nobody in the history of the internet has trolled me harder, or will EVER troll me harder than you just did right now.

Every time in the history of mankind that anyone has ever said faggot, combined, rolled into one, directed at you, is not even close to enough to describe my fury at you.

Ok hold on let me explain man.

Metal Slug 3 and X are way better in both quality and in terms of the steam port

but it's also i already got a high score im happy with and no one to compete with.

I in no way meant to imply metal slug sucks.

I am mollified. The difference in taste is something I could argue but the comparative magnitude of the fury is so immense I am appropriately appeased.

I will say Metal Slug 1 is at least feasible for a 1cc for a player of my middling skill level. The later games? Not so much. If you've already got the 1cc then lol just run it and go eat dinner I guess.

I dont think I have the motivation. The third level is ruining my 1cc runs. but ya, metal slug 1 is definitely easier than the sequel. much more tame

Is it time for the seasonals, yet?

They're my favorite part of ChristSteamas.
i hope valve does something fun like clicker games again

Clicker game was hardly worth playing, you guys. Actual time spent on it was basically worthless after bots were released and everyone crowded into bot rooms to get the highest level. It was more about having connections and being there at the right time than playing a game or being part of the event. There are some decent clicker games to play solo, and most of them are free...

MysterD-like clicker game reviews:

Out of all the free clicker games on Steam, I'd have to say Tap Tap Infinity is the best. It's got a cute, Square-Enix look to it, and there's just enough story there to keep you interested. The EXP-based skills are nice, and there's an ability that advances you to bosses automatically. There's no pay-wall to worry about since you'll have more than enough of everything, except stars, to boost your recruits. Some achievements are virtually impossible to get, though.

Clicker Heroes is decent, but it's missing quite a bit of power-ups and replayability. Those rubies are few and far between, so I'd say there's a pay-wall there in terms of gilding your heroes. Clans are a little foolish, and the relics suck. They don't even auto-level.

Time Clickers isn't bad, but there's no story or point to it. Takes forever to unlock some things. Like, seriously forever. Some of the last power-ups require 11,000,000 cubes, and even at maximum cube gaining you'd be lucky to get 700,000 by level 4925 which is the infinite health/end level where you have to restart. That's way too much grinding for nothing.

AdVenture Capitalist is pretty funny and I enjoyed playing it; it's just missing things to do after you unlock The Moon, where it becomes incredibly grindy. Even if you speed up the game 100x, it still takes forever to get Angels. Definite pay-wall. It also eats up a lot of computer resources, too.

Sakura Clicker is great for the weeaboos, but doesn't have achievements and requires paying to unlock trading cards. Blah. These monster girls obviously have psoriasis with all those red splotches on their breasts.

Crusaders of the Lost Idols is the newest one that I've been trying out. It's rich in story, as opposed to most clicker games with no story, and it has some nice features like team orientation bonuses and various missions to unlock rewards. The biggest problem with the game is no auto-forward option, so you'd have to script a mouse to click on loot chests then click on the advance arrow button.

And yes, I use speed hacks at 100x speed so I don't have to waste too much time on each one. I've found that Crusaders of the Lost Idols is a real bitch when you speed hack it, though; it connects to the server to auto-save your progress after a certain number of minutes, so 100x speed yields constant time-out errors. 15x speed is optimal.

The seasonal a will be here soon so I'd like it if we could introduce some kind of silly in-joke about something that doesn't actually exist just so we can confuse them a little more. Like "Putinland" only sillier.

Nobody talks about India, although it's feasible as a region to exploit stuff from.

Hmm.

"Make sure you jalfrezi on GTA V. The balti is region-locked"

If anybody needs help with vocabulary I'll post a menu from my local takeaway.

Not that I'd steer anyone towards one of those games -- stay away! -- but they've clearly made some changes since you've played CH. They've added Mercenaries, which you can send out on missions, with a chance of gaining souls, rubies, skill activation, gold, more mercenaries... or death. Relics can now be powered up with Forge Cores.

The short of it all is this: there's less need to constantly restart, and little need to buy rubies. The Clan part is actually helpful in that gained Souls allow you to make deeper runs. You don't re-gild heroes with rubies (you use souls).

Clicker Heroes is probably one of the better clicker games I've seen and the new additions make it even deeper. Having said that, I will reiterate -- STAY AWAY! It's not healthy.

I hit a symbolic milestone with Clicker Heroes (I think it was level 1000?) and then decided to call it a day. After a while it felt shallow and uninteresting. All I had to do was power level my gilded hero and wait until I'd reached an optimum level and then restart. I'm happy to have left it, I'm less happy that it's atop my "most played" list.

On topic, I've been playing Tap Heroes on and off for a few months. I don't even know why. There's not even a reset function yet I somehow keep coming back every now and then to spend some gold and try and reach a new level. That boss at level 200 kept me at bay for over a month.

but steamos is free...

Since when do cards take forever to unlock?

Last time I manually idled cards (over a year ago), they'd all unlock in like 2 hours.
Now they're taking like 6-10 hours to unlock 3-4 cards. :/
Is "manually idling" code for actually playing a game?!

I would recommend the updated version of Idlemaster. It has an option to idle multiple games up to the two hour limit simultaneously, then runs them individually after that to maximize card drop speed. You can also set it to prioritize games with the highest card values first, and blacklist games you actually bought on steam in case you actually want to play them first and decide if you want a refund before the two hour limit.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier, but the "minimum two hours of playtime before cards start dropping" appears to only apply if you've been flagged by Valve. In particular, if you've ever used the refund function.

If you've never refunded, you should be able to idle all cards for a game at regular pace.

Man, I hate the recommendation system sometimes.  "Hey, we're going to add all these lego games because you looked at --lego game x-".  Hey Steam, you idiot, you just showed me that game in my queue.  I had nothin' to do with it.

"hey, you should buy this game, it's perfect for ya"  I know, that's why it's already in my wishlist! Quit wasting screen space.

Happy Hunting today folks. :)

What about Scouse, or Scouse/Indian mash-up? No-one knows that shit,

dammit, this is where my fakeybroing does me in. i'm very interested in the dlc, but not $30 interested. and no season pass? wtf EA?
Um, the GotY basically is the season pass. It includes all of the available DLC + the base game. Maybe you're confusing it with the Deluxe edition, which just includes the soundtrack and some in-game weapons/armor. This is a pretty good deal for this, although it's a bit better via Origen Mexico.

. . . unless you're saying you already have the base game? If that's the case, then you're basically screwed like me. There will be no DLC pack and the individual DLCs won't go on sale too cheap. They're currently about $7 USD south of the border and that's as cheap as they'll get for quite some time, I expect. OTOH, if you want to wait a few years, the GotY will probably drop to about $10-15 on sale.

I didn't idle before because I used to manually idle stuff (download the game, let it run in the background). I got tired of doing that crap.

Now I'm just using idle master, so no biggie. I'll just be idling for the next several months.

Also, interesting to note, the notification envelope icon apparently tops out at 100.

I did used to actually play games.

Meh, I have so many games to idle, doing them all concurrently for 2 hours would only shave a month off of idling time. XD

RE: Clicker Games...

I may or may not have over 3000 hours in Time Clickers and I'm never installing another clicker game after getting all the cheesemints for it ( I ONLY NEED 2 DAMNIT ).

RE: Flagged by valve...

I never did a refund, so apparently they flag accounts for other reasons.

Maybe running multiple games at the same time, since I do leave Time Clickers open when playing other shit (I leave it open because of autoclicker, which only clicks in the Time Clicker window, so I can do other stuff at the same time).

This is true. I used the old version forever because I was too lazy to change until it stopped working. New version is much improved on the idling front.

(A) Recommend games based on recently played titles

(B) Make system encouraging idling of shit games regardless of interest

(C ) Recommend shit games

Thanks, Valve!

Also from observation, past steam sales have almost always started at 10am pst/1pm est.
Also to note:
- the moaning starts a few hours before the sale hits
- the false hope hits around five minutes before launch
- said hope comes crashing back down to reality one minute after launch
- friendly CAG posts screenshot of today's featured deals (may not happen this year as dailies won't be a thing) two minutes after launch
- Steam crashes entirely five minutes after launch
- glitch sighted but unable to be checked out due to high traffic at around the eight minute mark
- seasonals arrive around the 12 minute mark
- bad memes start approx two minutes later
- thread disappears at rate of 100 posts an hour, three of which are actually relevant

It was nice knowing you all, chaps. See you after the sale!

:grouphug:

(Bold prediction - the thread might be tolerable this sale due to the lack of flash/daily deals.)

Thread barely moved for the Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Whatever sale since, five minutes after the deals are posted, there's nothing left to discuss.

Also, you forgot the part where people rage about 10% off discounts at fifteen seconds after the hour since the new discounts haven't propagated yet.

(sigh)  I can't seem to keep up with this thread during non-sales.. but having nothing but the sale price and only the sale price for the sale... yea............. this is gunna be... meh at best.

You know what I didn't see this year?  Last couple of sales were preceded by some joint selling Steam cards for 20% off or something.  $10 off a $50 card on eBay or whatnot.  Haven't seen anything like this this winter.

We can't all be Motoki, walking around with our pockets stuffed full of Microsoft Gabenbux and wiping our asses with 99¢ AC: Syndicate promo cards...

Truth be told... Compared to what it use to be the thread barely moves at all anymore no matter whats going on.... Maybe that's good cause I can keep up or at least don't have to chose between playing games or reading threads on CAG BUT I do miss the ole days on occasion.

So I owe my friend a game for Christmas since he bought me ARK a while ago...

I want to buy him Just Cause 3 but from CDkeys or another place (any ideas?).

Hope he doesnt get it pulled/banned o_O

Hey guys,

Remember when Flow was all like "Chaps, I have given up on clicker games. An English gentleman like myself has better things to do than to waste time on that rubbish." I guess all that losing at fantasy football and watching Hull City lose forced him to come back to something he could win easily.

. . . unless you're saying you already have the base game?
that's exactly what im saying. it would've been nice if it were separate codes, then i can sell the base game for $10 or something, but nope, one fucking code. i'm currently debating whether to get this or the Dying Light season pass for $20. neither of which are great choices considering i've already finished both games.

It's amazing what a defeat to Rotherham will do to you.

...

fucking Rotherham. It's like losing to the Browns.

Well it's not wiping your hiney hole with AC Syndicate 99 cent cards or Gatesbux but if you do Bing Rewards or otherwise get Amazon GC/credit some way you can use that to buy physical Steam cards now, then have it shipped slow (it still comes fairly fast for me anyway) and get another $2 in credit from Amazon to use for their digital PC games for each card you buy.

So what was the reason people were saying Dying Light may disappear from Steam?

It looks good and all, just hasn't been discounted enough for me.
